The appeal of the V-Strom 650 is the engine. It's smooth and ultra reliable. You could ride that for the rest of your life. The naked SV-650 was awesome when it came out.

When to hot in Australia go to Philippines done some great rides and only need a small bike mine cost 1200 new only a 110cc but small enough to put on boats and go to the next island you want adventure haha try that just like postey bike rideing

After my last adventure ride I have a slightly different take on adventure riding, the UK and Europe was definitely an adventure and that was on bitumen on my DR 650, riding on the other side of the road, different languages, food, customs, border crossings, I was well out of my comfort zone. Riding in Australia is great, the scenery in places is great but there are places in the UK and Europe that are just wow, parts of England, Scottish highlands, the Alps in Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Romania in the Carpathian Mountains and the amazing Croatia. I love the Vic high country, ridden there lots of times but the Swiss Alps are spectacular, I am so looking forward to going back to continue my adventure ride in May and June 2024, Italy,Spain along the Mediterranean coast before heading back to the UK to get to the Isle of Man TT races, then over to Ireland. If I was younger I would have loved to have ridden across Russia to Magadan and ride the road of bones via Mongolia, that is my ultimate adventure.

Thank god you brought up about Penrite oils, for my Himalayan I use the Penrites15W50 semi synthetic, because that is the type of oil my bike takes, I was just worried about the Zinc additive that it has in it as I have heard it causes clutch slippage, BUT, every Aussie Royal Enfield forum, say's that it wont affect the clutch plates, who is right, "Joe Bloggs" the mechanic, or thousands of Himalayan owners here in OZ that service their own bikes and use this oil

Taking the emissions stuff off should save you fuel anyway coz when you tip the bike over it fills the charcoal canister with fuel that evaporates instead of going back in the engine 55:52

Question for Angus/PC: I'm just over 6ft and 115kg, 30 years old. I like my fitness and gym. When we talk about bike weight, it's usually a reference to picking them up - so my question is, do you think 'bigger' blokes should have less focus on bike weight? (I'm in the market for a new bike). Cheers fellas

Done Vietnam north to south, Around OZ once 1/2 way around twice, up the Stuart Hwy to Darwin and return from Victoria, lots of home to Adelaides, Home to Coffs Harbour, Red Deer in Canada to Hyder Alaska. Would love to do more of Canada again..Lots more week longrides in and out of Victoria as well

I think the speed races at Lake Gairdner are held in summer so riding anywhere else out there particularly Googs would be like going to hell with the soft sand, flies and heat. Best done in winter

my mate has 2 CBX's ........ 1 x Nitro and 1 x Turbo ...... he races them there and will be there this year , he holds a lot of classes for the bikes , he's 70 now

@@BikerBits, he also built a replica Gottlieb Damlier m/cycle the wooden framed one with training wheels ! built everything even the motor , he has about 50 m/cycles now but soon to start selling them off .... the Gottlieb Damlier was in a 8 page spread of Iron Horse about 12 years ago and he then left it in the Melbourne m/cycle Museum for a few years then onto York m/cycle museum for about the same time and then one other place , he has it back home now , very talented fella , Swiss fella Phil Mumenthaler lives up north in W.A

Awful news that on top of fuel prices. Similarly I’m medically off the bike for 7 months now, youtube has fuelled my imagination & planning check out c90adventures/ itchy boots/ Scotty’s walkabout and revzilla’s trips lots to peak your interest, good luck with recovery
