Well, you can’t dance to Zeppelin. And in that respect he doesn’t swing. Unlike his hero Krupa. For that matter for rock including the Roll, it’s Charlie Watts, triplets be damned. BTW I saw the Stones up close in ‘66 and everyone was shaking their ass. I saw Zep up close 3 years later and everyone was banging their heads. Nothing wrong with that, in fact Z was phenomenal, but they didn’t swing.

Bill Ward of Black Sabbath spoke very highly of John. Bill called John a true musician and referred to himself as more of a 'reactionary drummer'. I think Bill felt that John was better than him but it never stopped Ward from achieving greatness. In much the same way that Bill was Black Sabbath, John was Led Zeppelin and their music must be taken in that context.🎼🥁🎹

There is & will always be, one Bonzo. There was no Zeppelin, after Johns passing. Other pretentious drummers can say what they want, it's just opinion. They're great, in their own right. But, when you start comparing styles & unique individuality , we are all different. The combination of funky solid groove beats & powerful, memorable fills, there is only one. John Henry Bonham will always be my favorite drummer. Just one mans opinion.

You do know that Ginger Baker’s roots are in Jazz and not rock, despite being a member of Cream. So comparing rock drummers to Jazz drummers is pointless. The techniques are different. Jack Bruce always stated that Cream was essentially a Jazz band, Most of these iconic drummers of the time will cite Buddy Rich as the best drummer.
