There are some great tools for those locking rings on the fuel tanks that make life much easier. I know I wish I'd have bought one many years earlier after getting one.

I've tried both ways, and, since I'm in relatively rust-free Texas, I vote for set the bed behind the truck for this job. If you have four guys, this is simple. I have also seen a guy use an engine hoist to help pull one off. The only thing of note, if you don't want junk in your fuel, make certain that you clean off the top of the pump before you hit the ring off.

Lifting the Pick-up Bed is the way to go. If you don't move the chassis, when you lower the Bed back down the bolt holes for the Bed will line up.

I have a 67 Mercury Cougar that was originally sold in California and had smog gear on it like an air injection pump.

I have a 2001 Chevy and my dad and I used his tractor with forks on the bucket to lift the bed and replaced the fuel pump.

Only in the rust free states is it easier or feasible to remove the bed as opposed to removing the bed. I've been converted to this method since I moved to Arizona from the northeast.

New Zealand is the same, gear shift knob, steering wheel even if you delete a seat. It has to have it noted in the registration and to do that you also have to have an engineers report in a lot of cases ($6,000 estimated to change a seat fixing) Then there is a build plate added to note the mode. I hope it's not that bad there yet, but it is probably not that far away. I am disabled, to modify a mini van. 😔To delete a seat and to and to add an arm that lifts the chair in and to stop it rolling around while driving, $15,000 for a 7 year old minivan ($6000 wholesale), a lift arm ( with 1 actuator) a new head to the radio and compliance (Engineers report and a plate). 😔

I let my 93 bed rest on the rear tires just enough to access the tank, i was able to pull it back of the cab about foot and a half.....i wish i had a lift!!

I live in rural Utah. We don't have emissions, and we recently got rid of safety inspections. I could cummins swap a bicycle, and nobody would care

Had an old Mazda B2000 (200K miles) back in the 90's that failed smog test, went around the corner and turned the idle way down idle (approx. 300 rpm) and passed. Wonderful BIG GOVERMENT. Florida had emission, canceled emissions. NOW we are free !!!!

If you tried that with my 2015 the bed rails wood fold in if someone put something on top of the rails it dents its made from o to thin.

In Northern Michigan, the hillbillies just cut a hole in the box to change fuel pumps. Throw the bedliner back in and go!!

SMOG is 75 up for domestic, 76 up for imports. Which coincides with the first cataclysmic converters on each. FWIW

Lucky, seek a physical therapist who knows how to adjust ear crystals to attempt to cure vertigo. My wife had severe symptoms after a wreck and we found a PT who knows how to reseat crystals. After a 7-minute maneuver process, she was completely cured!

Morning guys. New York State has emissions testing too but not as bad as California. They do check window tint as part of the inspection and now the police are enforcing loud music playing in your vehicle as well as ticketing bicycles, speed and red light cameras everywhere.

1:38 I never knew how much I hated the valley or California in general until I move to Louisiana if your lights work, your horn, your wipers, and you have no check engine light on you’re good to go

I don't know why you people stay in California.

Move to another state! Leave the people’s republic of California.
