What day did Jesus die? You may be surprised!

If Jesus was in the tomb on Friday and resurrected on Sunday, then He wasn't in the womb for the full 3 days and 3 nights. Was it just figurative? When did Jesus really die? The answer may surprise you.
John Harris, director of Living Waters Europe presents this informative video which breaks down the Jewish holidays to work out which day Jesus would have really died.

Dude, this was awesome. And while many people say it doesn't matter, just that Jesus died for you and rose again, to me it is important. It's a matter of Jesus' own accuracy, as well as Biblical accuracy.

Sorry to correct you. Jesus resurrected on Sunday early morning. Jesus was crucified on Thursday and died on the cross and buried on the evening of Thursday which is the first hour of Friday. Jesus was in the tomb all Friday night and the jews sealed His tomb on Friday morning and left him in the tomb for friday morning this is a complete 1st day. Jesus remained in the tomb for Saturday night and nothing happened on Saturday morning and this is the 2nd complete day. Jesus had to be buried before Wednesday sunset, because after sunset was a Sabbath and three days and three nights later means Jesus resurrected just before sunset on Saturday which is the Sabbath. He is Lord of the Sabbath. Saturday after sunset is Sunday and that's when Mary went to the empty Tomb. Everything falls into place exactly as prophesied by Jesus. That's my understanding because I believe what Jesus said. Maranatha

Great teaching. Keep in mind that Jesus was put in the grave on Wednesday before sunset. Therefore he would have risen 3 days and 3 nights later which would mean that he rose on Saturday night just before sunset as he was buried Wednesday night before sunset. If he had rose Sunday he would have entered into a 4th day.

@@gerardmoloney433 No, what matters is what Jesus meant. The fact is that they did account a part of a day as a whole day. You can go to Peter’s meeting with Cornelius as an example. I won’t take the trouble to demonstrate it but I could. It’s late right now. They certainly DID USE IDIOMS in the original languages. So, it’s not impossible that Jesus was using the expression without rigid literalism. The Bible is filled with examples of non-literal expressions.

If you read the gospels the week that Jesus was crucified, You will only find ONE Sabbath, The weekly Saturday Sabbath. The Gospels tells us that Jesus was crucified the day before the Sabbath and rose the day after the Sabbath day. John tells us that Jesus was crucifies 5 days after Palm Sunday, Vs 1 & v12, with Matt 26: 2. Which means it was a Friday. Mark's gospel tells us what Jesus did from day to day, from Palm Sunday to resurrection Sunday, And Jesus was still alive on Friday until 3pm. Why don't you people read and believe the gospels?.

Read Luke 1:1-4, this is vitally important because if this isn't true then it makes the entire gospel of Luke wrong. Start at Sunday which is Luke 24:1 the Luke 23:56 is Saturday then Luke 23:53 is His crucifixion which is Friday. So in these 5 verses you get Friday through Sunday. Lukes gospel is very clear.

This is the Holy Spirit writing scripture. Now just read starting at Jesus resurrection which is on early Sunday morning according to Luke 24:1. Backup one scripture and you will see the Sabbath day which is Saturday. Then back up a couple of verses you will see that he was crucified on Friday. Remember Luke's gospel is written to an all Gentile audience.

The scriptures couldn't be more clear, The passion of Christ is part of the three days. (See Isaiah 53.) He was already "In the belly of the beast" Rome was that beast. And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, "The Son of man shall be betrayed *into the hands of men* And they shall kill him, and *the third day* he shall be raised again"... {Matthew 17:22-23} (Not after the third day) For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, "The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and *after* that *he is killed* he shall rise the third day.” {Mark 9:31} --[Friday] known as preperation (for the sabbath) day (from evening to evening) starts with the last supper, followed by being delivered into the hands of men to be chastised and afflicted, after that he is killed. And now when the even was come, because it was *the preparation* that is, the day before the sabbath. {Mark 15:42} And it was *the preparation* of the passover, and about the sixth hour: [noonday] and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! ... Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' *preparation day* for the sepulchre was nigh at hand. {John 19:14, 40-42} (Jesus rest in the tomb on the seventh day sabbath, which was the beginning of a new creation where man is once again reconciled to his Creator God.) And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and *rested the sabbath day [Saturday] according to the commandment* {Luke 24:55-56} Now upon *the first* day of the week, [Sunday] very *early in the morning* they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. {Luke 24:21} (Three days and three nights, for the day was reckoned from evening time.)

Great job. I discovered this about 2 years ago when I asked the Lord to show me the truth. Anyone at all interested can find the truth in scripture. A Bible app with search was a big help to find the passages that explain the Mosaic laws for the feast days. Something else I discovered was that the Feast of Unleavened Bread was a remembrance of the 7 day journey out of Goshen to Succoth to rest and regroup the 2-3million into tribes prepared to march, this is the first High Sabbath. They rested, but could prepare food. The 7th day is also a High Sabbath of rest allowing only preparation of food. This is in remembrance of crossing the Red Sea safely.

Thanks brother. I would like to add that Matthew 28:1 speaks to: as it began to dawn towards the first day. The word dawn originally meant going towards. As it begins to dawn means that the first day had not yet begun. The Bible teaches us that a new day begins at sunset therefore Jesus was not risen on Sunday because when the women arrived at the tomb He was already risen. They first came before the Seventh Day, Sabbath was ended. Afterwards there were other trips to the tomb. Please consider this. God bless you.

The bible doesn't tell us exactly when Jesus rose from the tomb only that by sunrise Sun morning He had already risen!

Thank you brother John Davis! This is something that I have thought about and/or wondered about for decades. One day a Jewish believer visiting from Jerusalem came to our church in Tennessee. After church I went up to him and brought up this topic. He pointed out to me that there was more than one sabbath that week that Jesus Died. I always knew that the word of God was true according to the original intent of those that wrote it; but sometimes the form that their words are in by the time it finally makes its way to us confuses us, and we miss some (or all) of what was originally intended. He didn’t have the opportunity to explained it as clearly and in such great detail as you have just done, but now I more clearly understand what he was talking about (I accepted what he said back then, but now I understand it better). Again, thank you very much. Love❤, dear brother

@@johnjoyce1073 each day starts when the sun goes down (not at midnight as in our culture). if the passover starts when the sun goes down, then eat it that evening. Then be arrested that same night, and then crucified during the day after the sun comes up on that same passover day which started the evening before at sunset, but doesn’t end until sundown on the day of crucifiction. That is why they had to hurry to burry him before sundown. Because at sundown the “high day” would begin. They count “days” differently than we do. We count the start of a date at midnight in the middle of the night before we arise, they count the start of a date at sundown the evering before which is even before eating the evening meal. Its just like every Sabbath which is the 7th day of the week (which is Saturday) actually starts at sundown on Friday. After the sun goes down, there is still lots of time on what we call Friday evening to eat and do other things. but unlike us, they call it the Sabbath which is now Saturday to them. And the sabath doesn’t end until sundown on Saturday. Now it is sunday to them, but we still call it Saturday in our culture.

The first and the third, as the second, consisted of what Jesus in so many words said they would, namely, of a night and a day, each. The first began where Jesus said His hour was come, and that of evil men and of the power of darkness - there, Jesus' first night of woe had begun. The second night would find Jesus on the cross, hanging there - dead! Jesus' second night of suffering for man the death of sinners had begun "when it was evening already" - Mt.27:57, Mk.15:42, Lk.23:50, Jn.19:31, 38. "The third day according to the Scriptures" "in the slow hours of Sabbath's-time, it being the essence of light, the First Day of the week afar off", saw come true Jesus' word, that "the third day I finish!"

@@kingshousetube The scriptures couldn't be more clear, The passion of Christ is part of the three days.

Great detailed explanation. I’ve been digging in to research this time-line and came to the same conclusion. But I would put a somewhat finer point on the time of day of His crucifixion and death. Matthew 27:35-50 Jesus was already on the cross by noon (the 6th hour) and gave up the ghost around 3:00 pm (the 9th hour.) Matthew 27:45 “Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.” In the time it took for Joseph of Arimathea to go to Pilate to beg for the body of Jesus and have it granted and to arrange for - and take down the body - and get Him into the tomb - it was near sunset - the start of the High Sabbath. Thank you for putting this video together - I'll be sharing it with family and friends who insist on Easter eggs and bunny rabbits.

Thanks for this. I've been aware of this argument for a number of years now, and believe it is the correct argument - as long as you stick to the Hebrew calendar. My problem with the Friday argument, or even Wednesday, is the synchronization of the calendars. Especially the weekly syncing. The Hebrew is a clear lunar calendar, whereas Gregorian is not. I'm unconvinced that the first day of the week on the Hebrew calendar was always on a Sunday - just for example. Other than this question, which may need a very deep dive into the history of the calendars, I do agree with what you are saying. Praise God we do not need to use mental gymnastics working three days into Friday to Sunday. It does sound forced and it does make Jesus sound like a liar.

Being crucified on Friday and being raised Sunday doesn’t equal 3 days and nights. Daniel even speaks of when Christ would be cruxified. “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭9:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬ We know that Jesus never misses a prophecy so we can conclude that he was in fact crucified during a feast sabbaths. After all, the Jews had many sabbaths that were season. However, the seventh Sabbath lasts year around. ❤️

Skip the blasphemy over YESHUA getting inspired by Buddhism an Hinduism or that He was twice married, but know for a fact. If YESHUA revealed himself in flesh and blood after His Crucifixion, He did not ascend to Heaven in a physical body which He had at the time, unless He took an Indian flying machine to reach His destination (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India 🇮🇳 the lands of the 10 lost tribes of Israel). There is NO ASCENSION. Therefore YESHUA fled Palestine and He did not just vanish in thin air. Not only that He was not born on 25 of December which is a pagan birthday of Tamuz, but He lived to be over 120 years old and ministered every day to the Lost tribes of Israel. It is revolutionary. Luke lied to us in the Gospel of Luke and in Acts when he spread the Ascension theory in order to Divinize YESHUA. Paul wanted to explain his vision by saying that YESHUA came to speak to him in Greek, and He couldn't do it unless YESHUA would be a spirit, while all the disciples of YESHUA knew that He lives. When YESHUA said that He cannot stay long in Palestine He meant He has to return to the lost Sheep of Israel in Asia, where He came from. It is a shocking thing but the time of truth came, and The Bride 👰🏻 of Christ needs to learn the truth. Please watch the Documentary and read the writings collected by Nicolas Notovitch in Tibet. They were written by buddist monks and the words of YESHUA are exactly like in the Gospels. The same message which is not Buddhism or Hinduism. May God bless you and help you comprehend this Truth. Also the Jews outside Asia need to know this. He is their Massiach. The Church will be shaken once the truth comes out, but the chosen ones will stay strong. Please watch BBC Documentary Jesus in India

Joh 19:31 "The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, *_(for that sabbath day was an high day,)_* besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away." - King James Bible. *_(for that sabbath day was an high day,)_* is not Saturday so this event crossed over 2 Sabbaths. I am not familiar with the Jewish High days, researching them gives the correct answer. You are correct, I wrote this at the beginning of this video. God bless.

The lambs were NOT killed ON the day of Unleavened bread, but EATEN. They were killed at 3:00pm on the preparation day the 14 th of Nisan. Jesus ate the Lord;s supper in the late Evening of Tuesday 13th, afterwards he went to pray in the garden, he knew his time had come. While he was in the garden Judas came with the mob and thet took him, It was during his trial NOW at early morning (wednesday the 14th - of Nisan Preparation day)) that the scribes etc didn;t want to enter the palace (during his trial) and be defiled before the 1st Feast Day, the High day Sabbath. So did Jesus eat the Passover on the 13th, when the Passover was on Wednesday the 14th of Nisan. The Lambs were to be killed at 3:00 pm the same time Jesus died on the cross. Jesus WAS our PASSOVER LAMB! During the lord:s Last Supper he told Judus to go do what he must quickly. He was to Betray him!! Then the lengthy trial, then crucification 9:00 am , death at 3:00 pm and buried before 6:00 pm at evening toward the 15th day of the Feast of unleavened bread. Jesus stated he DESIRED to eat the passover with them. He knew he was to die as our passover lamb!!

THANK YOU....I have been teaching this for years but is kinda hard for most people to Understand .......You put it about as simply as it can be put....Good Friday was a misunderstanding by The Catholic Church and is simply WRONG.......But most simple-minded people would simply, rather just stay in their Error rather than to Rock the Boat of Tradition! and risk offending someone.

The Passover lamb was killed on Passove the 14th at 3pm Of Nissan NOT on the day of the Feast of Unleavened bread - that was the High Sabbath meal to begin on late evening on the 14th which was the beginning on the HIGH DAY SABBATHA. Seven day of Unleavened was to follow for 7 days of unleavened bread, bitter herbs and the roasted Lamb.,
