I am long Centene too- CNC- has been increasing market cap shockingly quickly, even by debt and dilution.

Lucky for me, I've been a believer in ELV and CNC for the past year since both were out of favor and had much lower valuations. They've outperformed their peers, CNC significantly so. I still think CNC has farther to run since they're well below their mean P/E, while ELV is at fair value. UNH has been expensive for a long time, but is finally looking interesting. HUM's massive miss and downward guidance was a red flag for me. Management made some serious mistakes, so they're in the doghouse until they prove they can improve. I wouldn't fault someone investing in HUM today, but the peers appear to be doing a better job navigating the current healthcare environment.

Yes, CI has been jumping because their earnings are great, they increased guidance and raised their dividend.

@FASTgraphs - Assume you had invested in this stock in 2020 when it was fairly valued. Would you use a strategy to prevent a huge drop as the one seen in 2024, e.g. a trailing stop-loss, or is that a total no-go in your opinion?

Continuous and constant research and due diligence. Some drops can be avoided and some cannot be. Diversification protects against that. Furthermore, if I determine that current forecasts are accurate I would take advantage of today's low valuation and by more lowering my cost basis for the future. But most importantly, I focus on fundamentals not stock price. humana's fundamentals and stock price have fallen in tandem and are expected to rise again in tandem. However, I would wait a few quarters to get more insight before I did. Regards, Chuck

I had the same problem. After clearing cookies I also changed settings to allow 3rd party cookies (maybe not needed). And then pressen ctrl+F5 then Fastgraphs started to work again.

The Humana stock is down because Management at Humans cares about the people and have good affordable plans. They were actually awarded because of good plans... But stock market hates it... More Profits!!

They don’t do their work as a charity. The idea is to make money. Unfortunately, their FP&A process must suck because they under-forecasted the expenses.

@@janosik150 well good or bad in terms for forecasting is based upon accuracy. If they were not accurate (they were way off), then they did a bad job of it and they need to fix the issue. See, they have to balance the revenues with the costs and they didn’t do that so the stock tanked. The question is really, how long with this continue for. Since I can’t answer that question, I won’t invest.
