    My son is at Fort Leonard Wood right now. He called me on Father’s Day to tell me he was really enjoying basic training, but reception was HELL. He said the pt sessions are pretty boring, and smoke sessions are the only physical challenge for him because he is so fit, and he said he really respects his drill sergeants. I’m so proud of my boy! He graduates August 10, and I can’t wait to see him. Thank you Matt, my son watched all of your videos prior to BCT, and he was quite prepared.

    I have been watching you and teamswartz’ videos to gain a better understanding what my husband is going through as this is day 2 reception for him Army NG at benning. We’ve heard a lot of good and bads but nothing straight, you and Swartz definitely seem to know much better than many. Thankyou for your videos and full honest in depth reviews, hoping I can gain some more insight and knowledge to better help my husband through it however I can since we can’t talk for a while. He did watch many many videos from you and Swartz and others in the months prior to his ship date and I think it prepared him a little better and definitely opened up his mind to everything good or bad and the possibilities of what’s to come. Thanks again!

Southern Georgia is A SPECIAL KIND OF HOTTTTTT, and chow formation - which will be at least 45 minutes - is held outside. Well, it's a giant "breezeway"....but, forget about any breezes in a Georgia July. They will be constantly telling you to drink water: LISTEN TO THEM!!

    Your experience at 30th AG is a bit different from mine. They had a unit called FTU or Fitness Training Unit. If you couldn't to 25 pushups, 19 situps, and run one mile in under 9 minutes, you got assigned to FTU and weren't allowed to go down range and begin training until you could do the required PT. We referred to FTU as Fat Tired and Useless. And as far as getting smoked, they didn't smoke us as punishments, but we did PT every day in reception and they definitely smoked our bags that way.

    My Son is at Fort Benning reception currently (June 2019). One of the things you see on the family support website is a lot of kids, get homesick and break down. You see comments were the kids are calling home crying. Especially if they have never really been away from their family. I think being prepared for the process makes a big difference. Matt thank you for the video's they should be mandatory for everyone who goes into it.

    Infantry Specialist here 👋🏻. Goddamn the memories and he's right y'all, it fucking sucked. Felt like purgatory, but basic is a little bit more lenient except for the first phase of weeks. Stay strong guys. It'll all pay off with that blue cord

    It's amazing how they havent changed that place yet. So many people quit, go awol, or suicidal there. They need to just treat it casual like MEPS and then start the training when actual training starts

    Had a guy from my high school go awol at 30th AG, somehow got out of Benning (Benning is a big base), and got a ride home. 3 months later got discovered by police due to speeding, sent back to Benning for 2 weeks for discharge paperwork. They don’t jail trainees for awol anymore, all they want from you is to sign paperwork lol

    If you are trying to join during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be a lot harder. The process is essentially different for everyone right now and some people have been stuck at reception for months. I just got put in Camp Kelly last week because I tested positive for Covid. I will hopefully get to go back with my platoon after my quarantine is over, but only God knows at this point. I do not discourage you from joining though. I would maybe wait a few months for the pandemic to die down, but don’t let reception stop you.

    My son just left for Fort Benning Monday (April 29th). He was having an issue with an ingrown toenail. Man I hope he doesn't get stuck in that place for longer because of it. He also did not take his shot records because his recruiter said they weren't necessary. Oh man, I hope that doesn't mean he's going to get a whole new round of everything. Wow, this video was great and really informative. I had no idea they would be so long at reception. Every site I have read from makes it sound like it's 72 hours to up to maybe 5 days. Thanks for all the info.

    Does the amount of days at reception depend on how many came on the bus or is it based on individual processing

  • @PENS68

    @PENS68

    5 жыл бұрын

    It depends on a few factors: - If your get injured while at reception, you could be a holdover until you heal to ship to basic - If something is found at reception while you are going through processing, that was missed by MEPS you could be a holdover - Also it depends what time of the year you are at reception. I know for 30th AG at Fort Benning they see a spike in the summer cause of the all kids who graduate high school, so you could be at reception longer. - Typically you'll be there about 7-14 days. It's just because like he says in the video you have a lot of soldiers going through processing and it just takes time when you have 300-500 people doing the same thing.
