Fantastic performance. She delivers the meaning of the song perfectly. Almost made me cry unexpectedly.

Everyone has a different perception, I personally had a struggle with “Aeterna” 😁 but I liked “in love we rust” right away, from start to finish. And when I found out that this song was also about her personal experiences, the video took on its meaning and I became even more emotionally invested in this song.

Such a amazing voice. I liked this,the vocals were obviously good but so was the music. It was subtle but worked really well. Good lyrics also.

I dunno man, I really like this one. The first track she released I enjoyed, but this made me preorder the album.

I absolutely love this one but I was wondering if you would like it. Don't feel bad that you didn't like it. We can't love them all. I read someplace that it was done in one shot because they wanted it to have a raw, unfinished feeling about it. You probably know that she worked with Arjen Lucassen on this album. That is his guitar work that you hear.

We cant Love all songs they do, would not be normal. First listen i was a bit confused like with Aeterna. After a few times it really grow on me. Think its because my brain expected Epica at first. Love both songs for different reasons, dont really think you can compare them because they are totally different in both music and lyrics. This is going to be a very interesting album to unpack.

I find it interesting that both, Floor Jansen and Simone released a single talking about the end of a relationship, though this one is more directed to a romantic one, so it immediately sparked rumours about Simone's marriage being on the rocks or fully over, just like it happened with Floor and Hannes, and she had to come forward to say that everything was fine and that he actually liked the song a lot. When it comes to this beautiful masterpiece, and pulls the heart strings, loved the fact that they made it black and white, quite simple, so the lyrics would stand out, instead of the colours of her hair, eyes, makeup, etc. PS: This is her first solo project so my expectations were... in the middle, I already knew she wouldn't do something as big as Epica and it's okay to try new things, as it is okay to like the artist, but not every single thing they release. I personally liked it, but is not one that I'd listen on repeat.

Yea I loved the first single, and this was just not for me. But I'm still gonna buy the album lol. I did like the lyrics alot, just how it was written. Appreciate you friend so much for being here.

I thought it was beautiful, but chilly. ••• Just when I was getting used-to symphonic metal about Darwin, Dawkins and genealogy, Simone comes along and reels me back into feeling. Thank you, Simone. ••• BALDER! Dash!!!

Mmm.. mixed. I didn't have a problem you had with it. Fot me, it was.. it didn't really "take off".. maybe that's by design. Just like when listening to a few of Floors individual songs, they are still good because floor is singing it, this one is Simone..its good, but it should be great. Idk maybe we just expect too much and should just enjoy it. ❤and✌️

Simone is a legend and Epica is an amazing band! I know this is solo Simone but this kind of gives me the same feeling I get with some Epica songs, real hit or miss. That's not to say that this song couldn't grow on me but I'm not feeling it at the moment. Am I the only one that was getting a real TRESemmé commercial vibe around the middle of the video? 🤣

Hmm, i like the song and the chorus but smth about the mix feels a little off, maybe a little too much compression idk. Aeterna was more of an instant "hell yes" for me, but this is still good.

I love Aeterna. I like this. So, lets fkn go! 🤘😎🤘 I get you though, on an afterthought. Listening again the chorus was very 80's. There is another song out too. Wish I could remember it, but the vid was great.

The chorus is indeed a bit weird. On the other hand I think it’s good when artists don’t go the obvious way. So maybe it’s one of those songs you have to listen a couple times to fully appreciate it.

The song didn't catch me the first time I heard it. This is my second listen of the song, and I found a little more that I liked, but it still sort of underwhelms at the moment, I think you're right about the chorus. I enjoy hearing Arjen's fingerprint on the music, and I enjoy Simone's voice, but there's just something missing. Maybe it's context within the album would make it hit differently.

Yeah, it wasn’t my vibe either! I love the beginning like you, but then it just doesn’t go anywhere for me. The echo they put on “rust” is something I dislike in songs generally-it just scratches my brain in an unpleasant way. Taylor Swift’s So Long London does the same thing in the beginning and as beautiful as I think the rest of the song is, I just CANT listen to that intro part. I love her voice and love her lyrics, and it’s obviously very personal, but I feel like I wanted something very different with the production. It’s hard to explain but I needed the instrumental to be Not That and not so LOUD-like you can barely hear her at points! They just didn’t mix it well, in my opinion-and I also feel like some variations in the melody and time signature would have been nice. She’s got these beautiful, heartwrenching lyrics and yet the music doesn’t move with them. All that said, I knew this album was gonna be very experimental, so I knew there would likely be songs I didn’t vibe with. Aeterna has grown on me a ton since it came out! I don’t know if this one will, but I’m still excited to see what else the album has in store. It’s great to see Simone really putting herself out there creatively! Also, I think it’s hilarious, but with this makeup and lighting she looks *so* much like Jessica Chastain to me

I also don't care for the chorus ( and for most of the song in fact. I liked the pink floyd-esque solo though). I think the mixing is a big problem. Bass guitar is too loud in the chorus and outro, it drowns her voice.

Not even close to Aeterna.... Aeterna is a pure masterpiece, one of those songs you make once in a lifetime!

Love her voice, but this one is kinda meh. Belongs on a movie soundtrack.

You know how much I love Simone but I haven't listened to this song more than 7 times. Her voice is fantastic but this is not my favorite from her.

Simone is SIMONE. I love her and I liked the song... but there are some problems with it, IMO. The dynamics are messed up, overall. And the mixing is taming her voice in some parts, I barely could listen to her voice in some parts. And the video? Her expressions don't match the emotions the song conveys.

Your opinion but, Boo! I knew this was coming with comment the video makes her look older. Read the why this was recorded this way. Artistic expression.

I'm not worried about how it was filmed. I just didn't care for the song overall. But I will always love Simone!
