What are the best Sassanid units in Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion?

Ойындар

In this video I present my opinion of Sassanid roster in Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion in campaign setting. What are the best units and what are trash? The units are not measured only based on their fighting capabilities but also on how easy it is to recruit them, how well you can rely on them, and so on. The unit images are from the original Barbarian Invasion, because, frankly, they look better :)
What do you think? Should a unit be higher or lower in the tier list and why. Share your opinion in the comments!

My tactic for a Sassanid campaign was basically fill my army with nothing but peasants and cataphracts. The peasants would be the anvil and surprisingly lasted long enough for my cataphracts to destroy the enemy cab and surround the rest of the enemy kept busy by the peasants . The cataphracts charge was more than enough to break the enemy units morale and a chained rout quickly followed. This was a quick and cost effective way to overwhelm the Eastern Romans.

Nice tactic, and sounds cost efficient. Thanks for the comment :)

Another very valuable and accurate assessment of a major faction in BI. I think Sassanids are so powerful in BI that you can basically win the campaign with just Immortals alone.

Thank you! :) I agree about Immortals. Once Sassanids get a couple of valuable Eastern Roman provinces it will be a pain to stop them.

@@qualityoldgames7721 On this note, it may be imperative for Eastern Romans to finish Sassanids off as soon as possible before they can build up a sizeable force of heavy cavalry. I was shocked to learn that you only need tier 1-2 barracks for some of Persians' top units, including nomad horse archers.

@@alberthsiao4447 Indeed. Additionally, in terms of the map eliminating Sassanids secures quite a lot of Eastern Roman borders. Thanks for the comment. :)

I feel like your audio levels need to be louder or some other way to make it clearer. its very easy to drift off during your videos. Do you use audacity to clean up the files before upload? I'm trying to give as fair and constructive criticism as I can, as I am a subscriber and do like your content, and would like to see it continue to expand.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. It is much appreciated :) I use OBS studios mixer but it seems to have its limitations. I will pay more attention to the placement of the mic in the future or start using an additional app to boost voice. Is the problem only with this video or overall?

maybe put an infobox with some of the unit stats and their names on the right side, displaying while you talk about a unit. I feel that would help your viewers.

I plan to play the Sassanid campaign again in the future, I love the heavily armored cavalry. The public order in Alexandria is a real nuisance. I moved my capital to Antioch, a great geographic location. I had a very skilled spy with my cavalry army, so he was a great gate opener. Last time I checked he was 88 years old before he died, I used him so well... lol Strong mercenary infantry and missile troops are important for defending cities. Camel riders are good against light cavalry in deserts and for pursuing routing enemies, I also never recruit them, only use them as mercenaries. Cataphracts and Clibinarii are great, but they aren't cheap and they take 2 turns to build, I prefer the Clibinarii...

Thanks you for the comment. I agree with you in all the points. I also used mercenaries for capturing cities, if I had cav only army otherwise. I also tend to make Clibinarii because of the missile attack and lower stable requirements :)
