One thing I found out about the carriage ballistae is that they gain xp really quickly if you let them go to town against an enemy. In the course of 3-4 battles some of mine have gained 6 xp.

@@qualityoldgames7721 I have never used them in a city center, although I think that would work too. Typically, I use them to either assassinate enemy generals or to target their best quality units, sneaking to their flanks or rear. It does require a fair amount of micromanagement to prevent them from getting killed by archers and missile cavalry, and its best to play cautiously with them, but their long range helps with this. If you put them in a safe place they can also rack up a lot of kills on lower quality units. In my experience, they can fire over the heads of infantry so they can be used behind a front line. In my current WRE campaign, all 3 of mine have level 8 XP ( They star with two, I opted to go pagan), where as none of my other units except for one sarmatian auxilia (7 XP) are even close.

i never play campaign, but in multiplayer Equites Clibanarii is one of the best units. In fact, Equites Clibanarii can beat any calvary unit.

I would like to see a video with the repeating ballistas in action. I have never used them before but have always been interested in trying them out, but they slow armies down too much in campaign to be worthwhile.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tested them against elephants and they did absolutely nothing. Perhaps a bridge battle could be a place for them to shine. I will put the idea to To-Do list :)

Of all units only the peasants have lower, not higher, upkeep compare to their RTW counterpart. I wonder what is the reason for this. But I will not complain since both PO and money are hard to come by in BI.

I tend to agree. The only downside is good quality heavy cav (like Sarmatian auxilia) in early game. :) Thanks for the comment.

@@triskeliosthelastcelt1303 Thanks for the comment. I think Legio Lanciarii work well there, and in my experience most of the horde cav tends to missile cav. But I agree that auxilia palatina of WRE is better than any spears ERE has. :)

Is this with the remastered stats or original stats? Because in the remaster, of the 3 heavy cavalry units, the one you say is bad actually has significantly higher morale and attack, and only slightly lower defence

Cannot believe you put carraige balista in B tier. They wreck everything. If you remove the enemy missile capable. Then their literally unstoppable. Legend of total war once used them to take out 4 general units and they still had ammo after that. I once did a custom bridge battle with carraige ballista. They wiped out several armies scoring 4k kills just from shooting. Their so good that they have a complete ban in multi-player.

What army faction is better, WRE or ERE?

Armywise I would say ERE, because their cav has heavier hitters, and they have better archers. However, in campaign Roster the WRE has the Sarmasian Auxilia quite readily available, but their position is so much more difficult, that I need to give this as well to ERE :) Thanks for the question.

@@freddyjosecarrillocamacho5842 Thanks for the question. I think, in the short term Paganism is better, since you get e.g. more experienced troops. The overall improvement to public order is better with Christianity but it takes time and money to build all the upgrades. Hopefully this helps :)
