Something about this game is reminding me of Viva Piñata - not only in terms of… being about meeting and cataloguing food-themed animals on an island inhabited by both them and a bunch of quirky villagers, but how the tone is very tongue-in-cheek and casually drops dark implications but honestly also is very charming, “committed to the bit”, and inviting the player to just… come on and get to know and play with all the aforementioned silly food animals at the same time.

legit the reason I played bugsnax was cause i REALLY wanted to play viva piniata again but i no longer have my xbox T_T I'm so glad I stumbled upon it tho, you're 100% right it's the same vibe.
