What Am I Going To Do?- The Answer
#vanlife #coffeechat
When will I be in Quartzite? When will I leave the Northwest? Why don’t I charge my solar battery with my alternator? What’s my next van going to be? Those have been the big questions I get every day. Today’s Coffee Chat will try to answer these questions all in one video.

My name is Scott and in 2015, I bought a Ram ProMaster City to live in. Even though I didn’t know much about RV’s and campervans, I set about building the van out as a minivan camper. And in April of 2016, I moved into my minivan full time.
Over the years, I’ve learned you don’t need to have a big skill set to build your own campervan. And that living as a minimalist and utilizing solar power can be a less expensive way to live. I’ve also learned that a minivan can be a very comfortable home.
Please follow along as I document my journey.

That is one secret to happiness- avoid people who always want to tell you how you should live your life! 🙃
"...What I don't need to do is worry..." those are definitely words to live by!
Scott, I absolutely look at you with great admiration. Your simple lifestyle and your humbleness is so genuine. I absolutely love it and I work at emulating that in my life. Society needs many more just like you.
Thanks for being a calm and kind person amidst all the chaos of the world. Please enjoy something you like on me. Love your channel Scott!

@@StaticCamperVanyou are very welcome. Keep on keeping static!
Scott I love your vibe! Some people don’t understand what STATIC means. I’ve been watching you for quite some time. Started van life 6 months ago. I have no desire to go to the desert or be around too many people. Freedom is our ability to live our lives the way we choose. Keep doing you my friend, I truly enjoy the content!
I admire your way of life Scott. We are all different but it is absolutely important to live your life the way you want too.
You might be static but you radiate goodness.
I drink tea, I’m married ( for 30 years) so we live in a full size Promaster. Oh and we also charge our batteries with twin alternators… but I greatly enjoy your videos. Don’t change unless you want to and I won’t either! Thanks for the laughs. Cheers from Panama where there’s lots of sunshine this winter and we’re waiting for …parts!
You have chozen some of the most beautiful country in which to reside and journey in a static style. It's odd how people want to get in your business about what you should do. You are polite, thoughtful and quite capable of deciding what you will do and others would be wise to let you do as you will. You are a very nice and likeable fellow and I'm glad to be enjoying your journey. Blessings Scott ~
I hope this van lasts longer for you. It will give you time to save and research for your next van home.
It seems like many people believe social media should be used as an e-Begging platform, where you just ask the public for money because you can and told a little story about it.
Your business is just that, your business!!
I think most of us watch you all the way through Scott 😊 and enjoy all your ramblings! Toni
By the way in case you've ever wondered, I'm one that does watch your videos, usually in the evening, all the way to the end. I find them soothing and relaxing, especially on our 55-inch TV. They usually beat anything hands down, that's on TV in the evening.

I watch your videos all the way through Scott! 😉 I love your refreshing outlook on life and appreciate your different take on the world of campervanning! And of course your lovely relaxing demeanour and voice is an added bonus and all goes to making this a special place on the internet 🧡
Static but still flexible. I really enjoy your channel - and while it's not a lifestyle that would work for me (caregiver, full time) I enjoy traveling with you. The hikes along the ocean, the home made food, the stuff you learn as you go and of course the coffee. You make the decisions that work for you and it's not our place to direct you. By the way - you've got me on the hunt for lighter roast decaf for my hubby, so thank you.
Don't let the internet give you any STATIC!!!😂😂😂😂

Scott, do what makes you happy. Don’t worry about hose who want you to live the way they expect you to live but doesn’t give a ‘damn’about whether you like it or not. I’m in my 60s and retired but still keep myself busy, in fact more busy than I was working, and I’ve learnt an important life lesson i.e. to accept that you cannot satisfy or please everybody. That’ll take away a big unnecessary load from your shoulders and brain. For those who have different thoughts of the way you’re living, please, there’re many KZreadrs you all can follow. Always nice to listen to your favourite topics, COFFEE, though I must admit I wasn’t a coffee lover initially and is getting into it more & more now. Great videos always ! 👏👍
Hi Scott, don't let people try to tell you what to do with your van or your life. That person was way out of line. You're living your best life and I enjoy your videos and just doing the simple things in life ❤
Your video is very encouraging. I really like the idea of being static in an area that is safe and accessible to amenities. Very much a city dweller. I think it’s all about the timing of when to purchase a van so that your life is not terribly interrupted. And as always, the coffee, decaf or not, is pipping hot. ☕️Good stuff!
Never change. I’m in a van because I choose to be Extended family slanders me - like you stated. Ignore them. Do what makes you happy Your vids make me happy. Thank you Scott
I don't blame you Scott, I'm not real big on traveling long distance anymore, but I do on occasion. As long as you are in a safe area, that's most important, just stay safe!
Hi Scott, thanks for the coffee chat in your cozy home. I'm glad the decaf is working out for you. I think your approach to taking it more slowly as far as mileage and location makes so much sense when a vehicle is your home. I have wondered (not opinion just wonder, lol) about the reasoning behind very high adventure (off roading, high mileage, extreme conditions) in a vehicle designated as a permanent home and putting that permanent home at such risk. Not only because of wear and tear on the vehicle but also because of wear and tear on the appliances and necessities in the 'home' part of the vehicle. I am guessing that the high adventure/high travel folks do have a readily available back up plan for housing. It is probably why I thoroughly enjoy your content- for me it is balanced, peaceful and relaxing. On another note, a teacher told me a long time ago that if someone is pressing you for an immediate decision/answer- then the answer is no (of course not referring to occasions when you are hanging off a cliff by one hand, etc). Anyways you do you, it has been very enjoyable so far and most importantly , hopefully , you are enjoying being you.
Never change…you do you. I don’t like to be around a lot of people either. Where you are is beautiful. It is your life and you get to do what you want and enjoy the life God gave you 🙂
Keep doing you, Scott. You are admired and respected!
I too drink a lot of coffee. I enjoy the warmth and the smell of it. I have thought maybe switching to decaf myself. Doing so, might reduce the shakes that regular coffee gives me. I have great respect for your choice of Not Doing a Go Fund Me. It is my belief that, way to many people now days expect the government and/or, others to fund their way of life. If everyone would live more Within " their own means " we all would be better off. Thumbs up and Best Wishes from S. California.
I believe we should live and travel where we want and like. Let Scott live his life his way he enjoys.
I would never "get angry with you" you're a free spirit, love your commentaries.
Also thank you for not wanting to mooch off of people. Unbelievable that people use go fund me, just so they can live a lavish lifestyle, when that's not what it's supposed to be for. Everything will work out. 😊
Scott, you made me laugh from the start of this video until the very end! You do you, I've got your back. You rock that mini van! I love my mini van, and I am trying to be more "static." I also have a new appreciation for the ads, ha!
8 years living by myself and it’s been liberating, like a weight off the old shoulders. Less people telling me how, why and when I should do things that have nothing to do with them. A suggestion is fine, but leave it at that.
Lots of videos lately…thanks! 👍🏻 I also watched the whole video, as always.
Don’t listen to people who think they know what is good for you without listening to you. It is your life.
I enjoy your coffee recommendations! Looking forward to your reviews on various decaf versions. But I have to be honest, I fell asleep 4 times during the video and had to start it 5 times! Scott, your voice is a soothing goldmine! Double down on that! 🤩

I’m surprised that someone would have the guts to feel entitled to tell you what to do and demand that you do what they say. Wow! Crazy…
I watch them all the way thru Scott. :) Nobody has the right to tell you what to do ever
Dude, you do you. Don't listen to all those a-holes who think they know what's good for you. Just be you.
Static is exactly what I'm planning on being, Getting closer to my van being ready 😊 Hi Scott 👋
i do watch the whole video always do and Scott it's your life do what you want just do what makes you happy and enjoy a good coffee is always good times
Love your colorful lighting. It seems a better way to get to know a place by staying for a while. Stay happy doing whatever you like.😊

Hi Scott, I have been a van dweller for five years. I was born a desert rat. I lived in Portland OR for ten years. What people DON'T understand is it can be warmer in the winter than the desert. Yes more rain, but warmer. Best of luck to you and thanks for the great videos.
I really enjoy watching your van lifestyle videos with such great content 🎉❤😊thanks Scott for sharing your experiences with your followers 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Scott, I watched your channel since 200 followers. I am pretty aware of your needs. That being said I highly recommend the 2008 - 2010 Toyota sienna. It's absolutely amazing and you can find them readily available for 5-6 grand. With less than 150k miles. Best used vehicle I ever had and every person I talk to that owns the same one loves them. The 3.5L v6 is a great engine and they just put that same motor in the new twin turbo tundra. Hope this helps. Also the reliability is off the charts.

I respect your wanting to replace the van yourself. Keeping mind I can statically donate.
Yay another video
Too bad about those mechanical issues but you’re right, less driving equals no repairs for awhile. A minivan with blacked out windows seems perfect for your needs. A Ford Transit Connect may also work.
When I was moving into my van, that's all I heard, "You know what you *need* to do..." - most people meant well, but it does get tiring hearing about what I "need" to do over and over again, it was a running joke with my dad, "you know what you need to do..!" Made me want to scream sometimes LOL
When you do not have sun, you move to a location to get some sun to charge your battery. So static or not static you move. If you hook up you battery to the alternator but with a lever to engage/disengage then you can use the alternator on occasions when there is no sun where you are. And keep it disengaged all other time.
YOU NEED TO ... follow your heart 🤗

Yes. The answer is in your name!! ✌
I’m someone who watches all the way through and gives you a thumbs up every time. Take care.
Wow! My son just did this to me sat me down telling me what I need to do about what I want to do for retirement, travel.even yelling. I think when friends or relatives do this they are judging what we’re doing and don’t approve and the “go fund me” idea of your person I believe is because they don’t think you have the money or can get it. I’m a new sub! Great talk ! Keep doing you and stay away from those people! My plan if it ever happens again I’m going to jump up and say I’m so sorry but I’ve got to run! 😆
I recently discovered your channel and look forward to coming here each day. You radiate calm, peace and gratitude for your blessings and it's very refreshing! 🙏✝️

Perhaps the biggest and best part of VanLife is the custom mode. Taylor made lifestyles for everyone. A full size family van (conversion van) with the raised roof blends in nicely and is roomy. My Chevy is very reliable. The mini Van seems made for your needs though
Ethyl Acetate or methylene chloride is used to decaffeinate coffee.
❤ Good Day Scott 😊🌞 Gald your taking a Break, and staying out of the wind 🍃 Everyone needs to take some time out!👍All over the States there saying we're going to get rain, cold weather down near 19 degrees and some states below 0 So make sure your packed with Food,Water, propane, cell, lap top charged up! See if you can find a spot sort of away from wind ! Great watching your Static Adventures!😊Have a Great safe,Day! See you in the next Adventure 👍👌✌️🤞🙌🙏🇺🇲✝️💟💜🌟🌅🌻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌞
I think you should say..... " I'm not in a hurry to travel"
Good that you still make your own decisions and that you are able to postpone some of them till the point in time you think they need to be made. I am still (re)learning this. Thanks for you thoughts about this.
I find it funny that people STILL ask you when you are going to travel someplace else. I think I watched two of your videos and knew you liked to stay in one place for a while. Also, you are a smart man. I personally do not like gofundme. I think we have a generation of people who feel like they are owed whatever it is they want. Anyway, I enjoyed your coffee chat and if the decaf is good, I would drink it! Stay warm. Thought of you today when we had some gorgeous sun after all the rain yesterday.

@@StaticCamperVan Ha ha!!! Look what you got yourself into! 🤣
Don’t worry buddy, I don’t yell at you. Lol.
its gonna be -7 this weekend in Colorado. Jeep was good until they moved away from the 4L platform in the wrangler and cherokee in about 2006ish. Most "jeep people" don't consider them jeeps or reliable after that point.
My opinion, there's nothing better than a van, I have a 2006 ford van E350,,and I love it,, I bought it with 133.000 miles, now I have 280.000 miles,,never had a problem,,
love that donut shop you visited in san diego balboa park...............etc
Everyone seems to have opinions about other peoples lives! Lol. 95,000 miles is pretty low mileage on your current van. You have probably already considered it but maybe a possible option is to have the transmission rebuilt when that time comes. Sometimes certain vehicles just have a weak point.
Keep doing you.
I think a go coffee me would be a great idea haha

Regarding pushy people yelling at you. I got a taste of that today. A man riding his bicycle got mad at me for crossing the street slowly and asked me if I was working on my tan!!!! Yeah I walk a little slower than some people, but that's because I need both knees replaced and have ankle problems too. I'm 63 and not aging well. Anyway, he was not so nice.
I agree, worrying is awful for the health and a definite waste of time. Definitely not a way to be happy. I think you have the right idea . Do what you like always. This life is short. I’m sure those who yell at you do it out of “love”, some haven’t learned the ways to be like you or even I have learned. Live and let live and don’t forget… love. From afar hehe. More peaceful that way 😅❤
Awesome video
I watch another YT traveler and he always says "You do you and I'll do me"... I guess that's his way of dealing with people that criticize his decisions 😉 I like your thought process and lifestyle.
Glad you have found your happy lifestyle. When you change rigs moving from one to another is not fun and can be a real headache!
Scott be careful drinking too much coffee I did that too and started to have heart problems now I never drink more then two cups sometimes one just wanted to let you know what happen to me ,I enjoy watching you. You have a nice day Barb
You do what right for you you are own person you can do what you like no one can't tall you what to do 😊
Sorry Mr. Scott, I should have realized that you are constantly asked the same questions all the time. I'm not much of a questioner or commenter. Again thank you for the videos and the relaxing commentary. I will endeavor to give my thanks for your awesome content on future videos. Safe journey Sir...

You're static, got it😆
😊 You are so chill. I love it 🐢🐶🐕🐩🌈🌊🌲🌺🌻🐢
I gave into a friend of mine who opened a go fund me page..... I lived in an RV that's was a complete wreck, leaked bad and the engine broke in a year or so I got like $200 from friends. When the roof caved in😮 my bestest friend bought me this used minivan that I live in now. I'm still paying him back and I didn't ask for the go fund me nor did I ask my bestest friend to get the van, but I'm ever so grateful 😇
I can see you in a camper mini van. Seems like they would be more reliable. Not a thing shady about decaf.
Glad ur doing well in N Calif. This last year on the central coast here in CA i have been super static in my rig. Probably around 2000 miles or so, mostly because of gas prices. Also my rig is probably twice ur size, when i have to get a different rig it will be hard to have something smaller. See ya down the road. 😊
☕...👋🏼...🏜️ Absolutely agree, I found my favorite area in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley...
Don't let the bullies get you down. Keep being happy the way that you want to. The only one that can live your life is you! Those people think you're an easy target but you proved you're not.
Northern California is very beautiful area and that would be my choice as well to stay close to. ❤ Hope your van holds up for you and doesn't cause you too many problems..❤
