I rented rooms in my home to college students. One year, I rented to two young men from Africa. I wasn't aware they were from the same country until they were moving in. When the mother of one saw the other young man, the look of hate in her eyes shocked me. She said to him with venom in her voice, "You are xyz (referring to his tribe)." He replied, "Yes, and you are abc (tribe)." Although they were from the same country, and the same color, they absolutely did not regard each other as "brothers/sisters" as implied by the man in the video. I thought I would have tribal war in my home and so have a talk with the young men. They both were open to learning from each other and about their different tribes. They became friends, to the chagrin of their families.

I think he's saying that despite being American, they are fellow Africans "separated by circumstance". He sees them as the same, as they are also African. Perhaps you're not aware but there are other countries in Africa where many of their citizens don't feel that black Americans are their equals. I know many Africans and have heard them say awful prejudice things about black Americans. It's very ugly and right on pace with racist type of hate but obviously the race is the same. That's why he was specifically speaking of Zambia and their culture. He's trying to drive the point home that unlike other African cultures, Zambians don't look down on black Americans. I don't think it was about race but rather Africa and the Zambian culture. But you're correct as all humans are brothers and sisters of each other.

But we all go back to Adam and Eve and most recently to Noah and his wife, so we are all one race: the human race. There is no "white man", there is no "black man", just humans with different amounts of skin pigment. A dark person and the light person can be brothers as it is genetically possible. Repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ! "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD." (Romans 3:23) "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of GOD is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "But GOD demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) "For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For GOD did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned. But he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of GOD. This is the verdict, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that it may be revealed that his deeds have been done in GOD.” (John 3:16‭-‬21) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD. He was in the beginning with GOD. All things were created through Him, and without Him nothing was created that was created. In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. The light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it. The true Light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was created through Him, yet the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, He gave the power to become sons of GOD, to those who believed in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of GOD. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1‭-‬5‭, ‬9‭-‬14) "For the wrath of GOD is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of GOD is manifest in them, for GOD has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew GOD, they did not glorify Him as GOD, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible GOD into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore GOD also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of GOD for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason GOD gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain GOD in their knowledge, GOD gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of GOD, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of GOD, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them." (Romans 1:18‭-‬32) "For they willingly ignore that, by the word of GOD the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed standing out of the water and in the water, by which the world that then existed was flooded with water and perished. But by the same word, the heavens and the earth that now exist are being reserved for fire, kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly. The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat. The earth also and the works that are in it will be burned up. Seeing then that all these things are to be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, while you are waiting for and desiring the coming of the day of GOD, in which the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will be consumed by intense heat?" (2 Peter 3:5-7, 9‭-‬12) "But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.” This is the word of faith that we preach: that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.” (Romans 10:8‭-‬11) "After John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:14‭-‬15) “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28‭-‬30) "Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." (Matthew 16:24)

@@zalitosway8419 You do realize how Africans ACTUALLY see us right? I do I spend years living and working in Africa. They all see us as broken slaves of white masters. Too cowardly and weak to stand on our own. They hate us because of the weakness and slave mindset. To explain slave mindset - playing the victim. Allowing white people to dictate how we live, who we vote for, what qualifies us as black or calling others of our race who excel a sell out an oreo. That is slave mentality, being owned completely by the democrat party and bowing to their every whim and demand. Then attacking any other of our race who thinks for themselves and strives to excel. Allowing ourselves to live in ghettos and depending on handouts from the whites. African Immigrants to the US are in the top 5 of all first generation success stories. Nigerians actually out do Chinese in academic, financial and societal success. They are Black just like us, so why do they excel when the vast majority of us are stuck in poverty? Because we allow the white man to dictate to us and bow and scape for handouts. Want the secret on how to change all that? First stop voting for democrats until they actually do something for our community. Second demand good schools in our neighborhoods. End the thug culture and non stop disrespect to each other in language and behavior. She is not a thot or a ho, she is a sister. He is not a N****r he is a brother. Have men marry the woman he has a child with. Have women learn to stay with one man like our great grandparents did. Start acting like a community and supporting each other instead of constantly tearing each other down and praying on each other.

It really depends on whether the person identifies with being American more or has some more feelings of ties/closeness with Africa (more rare). It makes sense why most Black Americans prefer that term considering majority don't really know much about the African continent or their origins/culture which was stolen from them in the first place I'd get why there is a feeling of disconnect with even being labelled African along with their admixture makes the idea feel alien/foriegn to them of being called as such. I myself I am African. Despite being born on the continent in my country. I was only raised there for the first 4 years of my life and haven't returned since. I learned english and essentially there is a quite wide gap between me to a traditional Eritrean person. I can't even speak my own country's language but I can understand it , however I am priviledged enough to have been surrounded by my countries culture and the ability to know where I am from at the very least. I think Black Americans deserve that type of comfort of knowing their origin with history accumulated over tens of thousands of years from their ancestors. Anyways regardless we are both considered black by the world, still linked regardless from the same continent historically. Whether you refer to yourself Black American or African American I'm acceptful of both.

I have met a few black people from Rwanda and Ghana, and most of them view black Americans as stupid and wasting the opportunity they now have in this country. They told me about real struggle in Africa. They do like some of the hip-hop style, black athletes, and other "African" American entertainment, but they believe that the violence and toxic culture in America's inner cities/ghettos hurts their image when they come to American. Lots of times they will clarify that they are from Africa.

a lot of African blacks do not like Black Americans since they have had so much opportunity but only like what 300 of their population manage to even be 'rich' meanwhile you have Asians and latinos coming in less than 5 decades ago already making more money

Like some Africans I cannot understand how Black Americans are unable to improve their situation by education and seizing opportunity. I am a black British guy and as a student I worked a menial part-time job to support and finance my studies in London with a Ugandan guy 30 years ago. He didn’t initially respect me and made fun of my Afro Caribbean heritage until I told him of my academic and career ambitions. He wanted to know how an LED worked and I gave him a lecture with a white board and markers in the sorting office of the courier firm where we worked. When I explained to him the Einstein relations in Semiconductor PN junction physics. Being a post-graduate student himself he stfu and from then on always addressed me respectfully. I told him I come from a dirt poor family lived and tolerated serious adversity with the racist British society of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s when my parents arrived in the U.K. with the Windrush generation. Today I’m a successful consultant engineer with university higher degrees and and international reputation in the microchip industry. Doesn’t matter what colour your skin, racism is still everywhere, to larger or lesser extent. You’ve just got man up, stand up, and stay upright for your people. The future generations need shoulders of giants to stand on, we need to work hard to be those shoulders, period.

We black Americans are brilliant, resilient, successful, and beautiful people. I dislike when other black foreigners try to say the same lies about us. We’re not lazy. We built this country. We have the most copied culture in the entire world. So stop with the negative stereotype. In America 🇺🇸 yt people are doing the same as blacks but no one seems to acknowledge that. Most black Americans are successful. Most of the criminal class blacks are foreigners like yourself. This is why we black Americans have to delineate.

The problem is you, stop putting every black American in this one catch all. Like black people where you from, everybody is not the same. We are all different based on different experiences.. Do we share some common culture experiences, yes but they share some differences too. People like you will put so much weight on the negative shared culture of black Americans, but won't highlight their differences. People like you think every black person immerse themselves into hip-hop culture, but dont highlight the fact that black Americans are in rock&roll r&b, pop, country music.... you think there are no black American doctors, lawyers scientist? Please stop with this notion

You are a liar. Africans were never exposed to AA culture and history until the last twenty years. It was the movies that exposed AA culture and due to the fact that Aa lived in Wealthy country we thought AA. were Wealthy and living a good good life We were not aware of the racist struggle until AA started making movies showing us their history of struggle and even slavery was not taught in African schools until recently. They made sure the separation was complete by ensuring that we lacked awareness of both our struggle with Muzungu colonisers.

Get used to it, I spent years in Africa they hate us, call us slaves, and see us as weak subservient slaves of white masters. You can spot an African American in a heart beat in any African nation, they are the ones walking around looking like broke down slaves compared to the Africans. When I came back to the US I stood out because I had lost all the BS garbage I went their with. The worst part is, I was so pissed at how they view us until I came home. I saw in minutes exactly what they saw. Broke down subservient slaves of white masters all bowing to the demands of democrats and too afraid to stand on our own.
