What Africans Believe in Before Christianity

Ойын-сауық

What did Africans believe in before Christianity and Islam? Did they know God and how did they view him. Our studies on what we found out will blow your mind, was voodoo always involved? Traditional African dances, ritual dances, what was their ritual life before all this? (did things like Zangbeto and Zaouli exist?) and who were the Orishas. What was African religion before colonization and what did they have in common? Did Africans believe in God before Christianity? What is the African view of God? What is Voodoo (Vodou)?

While I do contest your claim about when the Catholic Church was founded, it is absolutely true that the Ethiopian Church is as ancient. It also has the honor of having preserved ancient texts like the Book of Enoch, that while not necessarily Sacred Scripture is still of immense historical and cultural significance. To me, it's rather uncontroversial the fact that Christianity is the true religion of mankind, but there needs to be a sensible cultural approach to this where we need to acknowledge to some extent the different interpretations of the various orthodox and apostolic churches while at the same time resisting some of the syncretisms with folk shaman religions and their historical/theological claims. Case in point, the problem of voodoo is kind of difficult to tackle, because it seems to strike a nerve of African pride. Something isn't necessarily good or true just because it is indigenous. But at the same time, voodoo has tons of unexplainable supernatural phenomena like the zangbeto that you recently made a video about. I understand this is a touchy issue, and while I am Catholic and believe that the Church is the wholeness of the truth, this is an extremely nuanced topic that is stained by some historical abuses. The Catholic author Dr. E. Michael Jones says that the only difference between Europe and Africa is 400 years of Christianity, a very bold statement that should encourage some reflection. The problem with voodoo in Africa is the same problem the evangelisers faced in Europe and elsewhere when confronting Christianity against their own native religions (see the conversion of Iceland for example). Historically, there was a very bad and weird trend of trying to make Christianity be this Eurocentric religion, and I would encourage our African brothers to resist the same temptation of trying to make it an Afrocentric religion. Christianity is the patrimony of mankind and preaches truth, beauty and life. When considering the current world situation, it's incredibly hard to see how Africa can develop. But at the same time, Christianity is absolutely thriving in the continent, by far the fastest growing religion in Africa. And I predict that given enough time Africa is likely to become a leading continent in world affairs. But accepting Christianity and being guided by it is of paramount importance. God bless you, brother. Love your channel.

Like other races outside of the children of Judah (Jacob, Issac Abraham, Shem), they had their own gods to worship before the real Jews escaped Jerusalem and lived among some of them (hiding from the Roman soldiers) and building communities for them until they were sold to European nations.
