I love that this is realistic yet healthy simultaneously. A lot of these videos show dancers preaching about having to eat a lot to fuel their bodies as well as intutive eating yet still in their videos showing very unrealistic and kind of restrictive diets that don't include nearly enough food when they have had rehearsals and classes for 6-12h that day and the average proffesional usually needs 3000-5000calories per day.

Often when ballet dancers rehearse that much it can blunt hunger cues and make it difficult for them to realize how much more food they need in some cases

Your estimated caloric needs are way off. A professional ballerina needs 3000 calories a day at most, and often not even that.

@@maryeverett2266 Hi. I understand why you may be under that impression and yes a proffesional FEMALE ballerina usually needs around 3000 cals per day. But my statement is not an estimation, but taken from a medical paper called "Maximizing performance and the prevention of injuries in athletes" written by Warren A scott in 2014 aswell as another paper named "nutrition in sports" written by G. Neumann states as such: "Female dancers too, especially in ballet, must ensure they have low body mass for many … sport, then total energy consumption of 3,000-5,000 kcal/day must be covered by eating." The 5000 kcal per day statement I made was for MALE dancers. But all in all, dancers burn a lot of calories per day and also need to fuel their muscle aswell as keep their body fat percentage in a healthy range to prevent hormonal or fertility-related problems. These articles are often cited by actual registered dance dietitians.

If you ever want to try a new foodie dish, mash some avocado and mix it into pasta. It tastes better than it sounds! I usually mash avocados with a little vegetable oil and a bit of salt and I usually mix it into macaroni pasta. I’m Obsessed with it and it cures that vegan carbohydrate craving. As I say to my yoga students, life is good food, good company, and good sleep. 🙏🏼

( NO JUDGEMENT JUST TIPS AND RESOUCES ) This looks great - some really important things though that I noticed, is that you don't seem to take b12? All vegans need b12 because it is not digestibly found in plants and deficiency can lead to poor immune system function, mouth ulcers, iron deficiency, weak bones, anemia and brain fog. It is strongly recommended you take b12 at least a few times a week by most health organisations (cyancobalamin being the preferable form, but if you have a very weak liver then methylcobalamin.), I'll leave a link below for simple and helpful resources from people who don't push for any restrictive eating or crazy food (and are doctors and dietitians). Also, there is only one decent source of protein in the day (the lentils), unlesss the pasta was wholewheat, or made of pulses or legumes, or with added protein. Vegans need more protein bc it doesn't absorb as easily as animal protein (the same goes for heme-iron, the iron from animals). People who exercise also need to eat more protein, and since you are someone who does something as intense as ballet and are vegan, you may be at risk of deficiencies and muscle wasting if you don't get enough servings of protein-rich foods in the day. This is not at all a criticism, but foods high in B vitamins, Iron, Zinc and Protein and Calcium are generally missing, and though it is an isolated day of eating, here are some nutrient-dense foods that will help: -beans/legumes/pulses are sources of protein, iron, bvitamins and zinc (I use canned bc they're cooked and just as good as dry, just put sauce on and they're done) -fortified milks, kidney beans, soybeans, edamame, tofu and tempeh are sources of calcium, protein, bvitamins and iron (firmer tofu has more of all) -wholegrains (oats, quinoa, brown rice etc) are sources of iron and protein -dark leafy greens like kale, cavolonero, bok choy, and choy sum are sources of iron and calcium -most nuts and seeds are a source of protein, iron, and omega 6, but chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax, walnuts are sources of omega 3 too and higher in iron, canola oil also has omega3 -broccoli, bell peppers, any juicy fruit and berries are sources of Vitamin C, which increases iron absorption when paired with the above foods -aliums, like garlic, onion, spring onion, scallions, shallots, leeks and chives etc, also increase iron absorption -mushrooms and all cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts,) are sources of choline -betacarotene/vitamin A foods like tomato, lettuce, or really any fruit that is orange or yellow except bananas will increase iron absorption -mockmeats tend to have iron, b12 and protein. -nutritional yeast is usually full of bvitamins and protein (especially b12, but should not be the only source of b12) Also, iodised salt is really important compared to any other salt because there is no other source as dependable, and iodine deficiency can lead to thyroid issues! I looked on Google a few weeks ago when you did not like the lack of vegan “milk” choices, and there were some recipes. Of course you would miss going out to the shop. The music to your variation seemed so familiar, yet I could not think of the name. Could you write down the name of what you are working on, please?

Those lentils looked so good. Side note, if your interested, check out Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and the gaps book. Essential nutrients needed by all are vitamins A D AND k2 and all the B vitamins. Iron as well. Just make sure your getting those in adequate amounts since you do ballet which is very demanding on the body. This comment is only meant out of concern. No offense intended. Love your channel and content.
