Watching the young ladys face during this vid was magic. Heres hoping she does all of Zepplins work. I've been a huge fan for sixty odd years. Young lady has years to enjoy their majesty! Enjoy and Rock and Roll

Zeppelin was notorious for improvisation during live performances. That’s what really made them special to see live. Their performance was never canned. Maybe not always clean and pristine but never, ever boring. Four of the most accomplished musicians in the history of Rock music. Really enjoyed your reaction, young lady.

But yeah... it is also often used in a negative sense to describe criminal notoriety or an underhanded sort of fame. PS - The word that people always seem to misuse in this context is "infamous" which is always a negative.

There's also a version from the Zeppelin DVD that's from a different night at MSG, it's a little tighter. I think it's the better version, though they are quite similar.

Robert and Jimmy often hit/play the same notes at the same time. It is just ONE of the reasons that nobody has ever come along that compares to Zeppelin. Pure greatness.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the music of my youth. 50 plus years and better now than ever. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You can say that again! Ever since my step dad showed me this when I was a kid back when we had VHS it did something inside me that I can't explain. My life was never the same and ever since that night long ago I have not stopped watching it from VHS, DVD to Blu-ray they even came out with an album of the show and now waiting for it to come out on 4k. Can't even remember how many times I've seen/listened to this. As a matter of fact I'm watching it on KZread, forgot what I was searching for but the whole movie/concert was free to watch with ads. How can I not click on it.

Led Zeppelin were famous for not playing songs the same way twice. They're just great musicians. It was fun to watch your appreciation of their blues chops on this one. Speaking as a guitar player, that high note near the end that you were curious about is most certainly Robert Plant's voice. I can't get enough of this particular version of the song. This is indeed Plant's voice. If anyone is in doubt, just look at Jimmy Page's left hand. If he played this high note, then his hand should have slid to the base of the guitar neck: this is where the strings are clamped on high notes. But he didn't. I did not immediately understand, and then I began to closely follow the guitarist, and not the singer. This is Plant's note.🙂

Another band to look at on that note (not playing the song the same way twice), listen to the Grateful Dead. Any song, it doesn’t matter, they were a jam band more than anything else. Their lives shows were an experience… even if you weren’t on anything (but I’d say only 1% of people at dead shows were not on one drug or another🤣… at least that’s what a friend told me😜🤣

I agree his voice breaks - I have heard other recordings where it doesn’t in this song. But it is definitely his voice and not the guitar.

The best thing is you kids are discovering what real music from the 50's, 60's and 70's was, and is all about, turning 70 tomorrow and still listen to it everyday.

Yep going to see him in Nov with his UK band of the moment Saving Grace , lovely folk blues psych fusion . He is not the Robert Plant of Zep but he is at 75 still a great vocalist , v musical and v playful with a few nods to his past and if youre lucky the odd Planty scream

Also Remember no voice lessons either Just all natural crazy that also goes for Bonham I believe he went to one drum lesson and the teacher told him to save his money and don't come back there was nothing he could teach him he was 14 then first year that he got a drum kit two years later his playing in the king snakes

Led Zeppelin's brilliance was the constant improvisation between the 4 musicians. The drummer played off the guitar licks just as much as the vocalist. They pushed themselves everynight, never playing it safe.

They were recognized and given a Kennedy Center award for the best rock group...they are musical geniuses.

The fact that you couldn't figure out where the guitar playing left off and the vocals began truly showcases why this band was one of the all time greats. The incredible talent of Jimmy Page's fingers and Robert Plant's voice is nothing short of amazing. They showed it time and time again on most of their signature songs, and I haven't even given props to the multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones and the powerhouse percussion of John Bonham. I was fortunate to see them on more than one occasion and they brought their A game to every show.

The studio version is absolutely biblical. Gives me chills the last 3 minutes of the song. Plants voice pre-1972 is the greatest male vocal I’ve ever heard and I’ve heard it all. The power he had in Zeps early days is 2nd to none including Mercurys.

As a kiwi woman...im so grateful ive had these musician's in my life as a constant backgroud sound to my life. Discovered them when i was 16. Loved them ever since...deeply soulful connection. Love them always.

Very few bands could get into a pocket like Led Zeppelin. Those four made magic together; their grooves feel almost telepathic.

Zeppelin was basically a blues band that added rock to their sound, but huge chunks of their discography is straight blues.

To answer your question: this is the music I want to listen to. All of Zeppelin. All of it.

Robert Plant was gifted with a voice that didn't require a lot of effort, he's legend.

Each member of Led Zeppelin is a master of their craft. My favourite band of all time since 1972 when I was 12 years old. As I got older I came to appreciate their back-catalogue (which I was too young to appreciate at first) as well, and my love affair with them has continued and grown ever since.

I saw them live in 1975 and true, he doesn't seem to use his diaphram at all. I like your reactions. i think that Zeppelin's partial success was the fact all four members stand out in each and every song on their own contributions, whether it is vocal, guitar ,bass ,or drums. They are all excellent. Peace and Love. (I am 74 and when I saw them live, tickets were only $10.50 for a non stop 3 1/2 hour gig. no frills, no auto tune, or dancers, just talent from four excellent musicians.).

Agreed. This and Comfortably Numb at the Pulse concert is the probably the Mt Everest of live performances - nothiwthstanding apparently LZ did many better performances than the TSRTS film.

Led Zeppelin is known most as a blues rock band. If you want to hear a great example of this listen to "When Levee Breaks" which is a cover of an ancient blues tune. In my opinion they are the greatest rock band that ever was.

At 70 I’ve been listening to to this music for over 50 years. Great reaction. Robert Plant still has the voice and stage presence as evidenced by his recent tour with Allison Krause.

I enjoy watching music lovers who never heard Zeppelin before react. It’s like an entire new life has been opened to them

Funny story about Led Zeppelin: growing up we ALWAYS had music playing in our house. Always. My dad had wired the entire house with speakers to our stereo (I’m talking early 80s) so we could put an album on and have it playing throughout the house. My mom played mostly Irish & country music. Us kids played everything from hard rock (Zeppelin, AC/DC) to disco to singer/songwriter (Cat Stevens, James Taylor). To her credit, my mom just loved music & never told us to take anything off. Anyway, my sister had Zeppelin playing & mom was enjoying the music. She turned to my sister and said “I like the music. Too bad the singer can’t sing.” !!!! My sister looked at her in absolute horror. “ That’s Robert Plant, mom!” We still laugh about it & say “Too bad he can’t sing” every time we hear Robert Plant. Also, I so enjoy your reactions to the music. You can tell you feel music in every bone in your body. It was a true pleasure seeing you discover Led Zeppelin. 🥰

This 1973 live performance at MSG is a timeless classic. I never get tired of listening to the whole show. Truly, one of rock and roll's greatest bands.

Bluesy is right. Conversational is right. Improvisational is right. Soulful is right. This song actually beats out Stairway to Heaven for me. It's like a religious experience each time I listen to it. A stillness overtakes me as I listen in awe to the raw emotion being portrayed so masterfully by all the musicians in the band with each of them complimenting one another. I enjoyed your cool insights to my favorite Led Zeppelin song! As an aside, I saw them live 4 times! The first two times were at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. Oh, were they HOT!

Saw them 3rd row right in the middle at Madison Square 1977 tour. Unreal!

Plant and Page had great instincts for blues and mastered call & response between Robert's voice and Jimmy's guitar. In "Dazed and Confused" there is an entire section that showcases such an interlude between the two. They were just a fantastic band, all 4 members locked in together so they could riff and improvise without ever losing their groove. Robert also plays harmonica but in the style of vocals; he's amazing on "When the Levee Breaks".

Led Zeppelin 1 is number 1. The variety, the raw emotion, power. Made in 38 hours. True stait from the soul. Number one album of any group

What always impressed me about Robert Plant live is his way of converting a song we know from a studio album and tastefully cheating, not hitting the high or intense notes on the album. He's masterful at it. He certainly goes for some of the high bits, as shown here, but is very smart in saving his voice.

Lez Zeppelin and Robert Plant have been my favorite since I was a young teenager. I'm now 60. Robert still puts me on another level of consiousness, not to mention I was in love with him just for HIM but his vocals just put me on another level. Still makes my heart beat fast and sweating. There will never be another Led Zeppelin.

He developed nodules on his vocal cords in late 1972, which got worse through 1973. He had to have a throat operation. He's still bloody great here though, with an amazing stage presence which every woman reacting to it seems to be in awe of. I've literally watched dozens of them.

@@Incomudro1963 I would agree he had damage here that limited his full range displayed between 68-72. His voice alone in the early videos is worth a reaction from people like Bethany. They were extremely loud, and with that ultra pro rhythm section pounding behind them, Plant and Page up front in your face literally overwhelmed audiences, especially seeing them for the 1st time.

Wonderful reaction! Robert is in a class all of his own - his range; phrasing; emotion and his lyric writing- so good. Led Zeppelin has a large catalog with so many different genres - but definitely blues based. FYI - Robert did have vocal issues around this time and for a few years after. I believe he eventually had cord surgery. He is still performing and has moved to traditional American music. Saw him with Alison Krauss last year - fabulous. Yes, Robert Plant had nodules removed from his throat. Fortunately it didn't affect his amazing voice.

Prior to Led Zep, Plant was a jazz singer. That whole band was just AMAZING! Their catalog of songs is awesome. I can't think of one song I don't like.

By far one of the best and most powerful blues songs to ever exist.

Just discovered your channel, great reaction! That is an iconic performance and I was fortunate to be at that show July 29, 1973… The original version of the song was released in 1970. Believe it or not three years later as powerful and high pitched Robert Plant sounds, from all the touring he lost a good amount of power and range since three years earlier. If you want your mind really blown, please listen to the original studio version!

Great reaction .... LZ did about 80% of their 700+ 2-4hr concerts/shows between 68-73. They did not release singles (very few and always forced by the label) and promoted the albums this way, as they also did not use TV or other media methods of the time (ie: interviews ect ...) to promote their music. Plant had vocal surgery not long after these tours. They took a full year off and worked on the double album release for 75, but Robert Plant was never the godlike phenom he was when he broke in and shocked the industry. Listen to studio or live from 1969-70, you will not be disappointed!

He still hadn't fully recovered when Zeppelin recorded Physical Graffiti, and you can hear a cool raspiness in his voice on the songs recorded for that album in 1974.

@@lyndoncmp5751 Several tracks that were added to PG were earlier recordings and studio work that did not make it onto previous albums. This accounts for the variances in his vocals from track to track on this (what turned into) double album (15 tracks). The albums and other musical ventures that came afterward were tremendous efforts and produced more timeless music. I don't want anyone to think I am saying Robert was not fabulous going forward! I (and apparently others here) are just stating facts about his sound having to evolve as the years went on.

@@johnwalsh9144 Indeed, and you can tell the difference in Plant's vocals. The raspiness on Custard Pie (recorded post operation in 1974) vs the high pitch on Houses of the Holy (recorded pre operation in 1972) to name just one example of the different voices he had.

A lot of people rag on his vocals later on in his career, and its mostly justified, he did lose a few steps, but in the early 70's I don't think there was anyone who could compare to his soulful stage presence. Legitimately the greatest frontman of his generation.

I saw Plant in the 90's a few times... He had that Elvis vocal change. And has lived with those changes since. So NO, not many can keep those screams up. Paul Rogers, Tom Jones, Robin Zander and Elvis got better as years ticked by.

I was introduced to Led Zeppelin’s debut album when it came out in ‘69, from an older brother when I was 16 years old. Now, at 70 years old I go back to it often. It’s classic music that will never grow old. Love watching this young woman’s expressions. Tells it all! Led Zeppelin music is the Mozart of the 1960’s & 1970’s. My grandkids are now listening to it with me in awe. I have the cd collection of all their music.

Rock and Metal are an evolution of Blues, so it's not unusual for early bands to have an obvious blues tone to some of the music. And Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are probably the two most influential founding members of those genres.

IMO, even acknowledging a very early bluesy influence, Sabbath were extraordinary because in retrospect the alleged connection with blues now seems tenuous. They sound almost completely unrelated to anything preceding.

One of the best vocalists ever. ❤

a "burst" of voice IS a singing skill and the tapering off is a part of that.

This is a modern day opera. Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, etc. watching live is a must. The eyes of that Indian lady in the audience that shine in sync with bursts of Robert's feminine masculinity tells everything - I only watch this particular rendition. A full spectacle. Zeppelin is THE best live band. Hundreds and hundreds of shows, they NEVER played the same song the same way twice. Ever. Constant improvisation, constant challenging, fearless up on the stage, communicating telepathically.

You have seen nothing yet! Tightest band ever! The studio is different and they never played the same song the same way. They were UNIQUE!! Absolutely improvised!

Great choice. The first time I saw Zep I wanted to see if his voice was for real. And it was. But I never understood how they could play every night or two and not be deaf. They were extremely loud. And mind blowing.

Absolutely! The first time I saw them was 1971 at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles. My ears rang for a week. They were, and still are, my #1.

Those of us who loved Led Zeppelin have always considered them a blues/rock ballad band. One of the best bands ever. I played for my wife on a road trip who really had never heard them and is now a huge fan.

Greatest band ever...especially live! They did every genre!! I prefer to hear any Zeppelin song!!

It’s not the stamina it’s the sheer excitement of that time… he gave it his all 69-71 . His vocals gave out in 72…

I’m with you here bud..I watched it probably every day (a few times) for about five years in the early 90s..had it on the old VHS cassette..every single day..over and over, the whole show, still pure magic ✊🍻

Plant seduced the audience with his presence, physically and vocally... that command of the stage at 13:28... how the band holds back and gives him that space to roam... take time.. build tension. This is a great video. Seen it many times and love it every time. *** edit - and what an intro... patient and not a note wasted

@@wedoithardandwemakeithurt four legends... hurt my heart to see plant tear up at the kennedy center honors when Jason Bonham took the kit, the choir came out from behind the screen, and Ann Wilson belted out Stairway with Jason looking up to the sky... and Jimmy was smiling the whole night, appreciating the honor, the musicians, and his work on display. *Jack Black did them justice with his intro

If you really want to hear the progression of this song over the years they’ve been playing it live (and all their songs) go to a sight called Black Beauty. Site has 99% of all their concerts since 1968. I am especially keen on the period between 69 and 73. They’ve played it perhaps 60-70 times and each time they play it it’s different. The improv from these 4 guys are breathtaking. They are loose in their artistic freedom but tight in that they always find and feed off each other. Not too many bands can achieve this each and every time they go on stage

You know what's amazing (and crazy) about Robert Plant's vocals, If you watch the movie "Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same" right before this song he is smoking cigarette backstage. He was a smoker and was still able to perform for two three hours at a time

I've had the privilege of seeing Zep live and seeing Plant live on many solo tours and can assure you that it was his voice

What's truly amazing is that Robert Plant sounded great even into a mature age.

Yes, the coordination between all members of the band but especially Robert (singer) and Jimmy (guitar) is spectacular. You can see in so many of their live performances how they use call and response back and forth with each other - much of it, I assume is improvised!! That's why they are the greatest rock and roll band to ever exist. Great reaction. Please keep going. Studio, live, it doesn't matter. They are masters wherever they go.

Bonham and plant knew each other before the band was formed. Jimmy page was a session musician in his teens and JPJ was the real musician in the band playing Bass sometimes foot bass whilst playing the keyboards Jimmy page invented many guitar production methods including pedals. Many of their albums were recorded at Headley Grange a few miles from where I live.

The way they match the guitarists and vocals into one has always intrigued me

Led Zeppelin is the soundtrack of my teenage years in the 70’s! Best band ever!

Greatest improvisational band of all time! Greatest live band of all time! They performed most songs differently each time they played.

At one point you asked "what kind of rock do you like" , with Led Zeppelin you get a rock variety , from this bluesy track to rock and roll and the song "Thank You" which is a brilliant love song , so please listen to some more , you won't be disappointed . Great post by the way , I enjoyed that

One of the greatest exponents of 'Sprechgesang' and structural improvisation in live performances (live performances were always subtly different) - and a lot of people never realised it. No auto tune in those days either. Take that on board, younger people!!!! LOL. Thanks for the input Bethany. Every day's a school day for us mere mortals. 😊 Fun fact: The 'hooded' lady in the audience at 19:00 was Robert's then wife, Maureen.

The interplay between Robert and Jimmy is simply amazing. Keep in mind much of this is just improvised on stage. And of course the backing can't be beat. Simply the best rock band ever.

The studio version made Robert Plant my favorite singer ever a long time ago. Great way to start, especially since Led Zep have such a wide variety of songs.

Another great reaction video! Listen to current Robert Plant and realize he hasn't "blown" his voice and can still sing that big head of hair off. He's still so vocally expressive and can still dig into that wild range of his.

He lost his ability to hit certain notes by the mid 70s. You can see the transition happen on Physical Graffiti. Since then his voice is still the same. He can do all of the later Zeppelin stuff just fine. The earlier stuff he does differently, but not really much differently than he did in 1979.

@@garrygrasinski I never saw LKZ live but I did see Page twice and Plant three times. The last time I saw Plant was around 2005. He played one Zep song to one new one throughout the concert. The Zep songs he rearranged with a North African feel. it worked.

Fascinating to watch a singing expert screw up her face when the camera switches from the vocalists abdomen to the 5-star lead guitarist. That is FOCUS! I love this so much in your reactions.

There is so much incredible music from Zeppelin, this of course is epic, but "Ten Years Gone" is my personal favorite Zeppelin song. The best of all 4 of them.

Led Zepplin’s early stuff was almost exclusively blues. Thanks for the reaction to the Mighty Zep.

This song is so much fun to play guitar along with, and it's because Robert is so totally feeding the guitar. It's a beautiful chord progression too, and how it descends at the end back down to the tonic chord. It's a fantastic conversation.

I was 10 years old back when this came on QUBE in Columbus, Ohio in 1978. I was laying in bed and I could hear my sister trying to convince our dad how great they were. He was 45 years old and was a classical music listener. My 15 year old sister was a a straight up rock music diehard and full of hormones. Dad kept saying how Plant's singing sounded like a screaming banshee. lol Our 18 year old sister liked Barry Manilow and other soft rock. They shared a room. It was so exact opposite decorated. I wish I had pictures. Needless to say, I gravitated to the rock my sister played. So much so I started playing guitar at age 12 and have never stopped.

Would love to hear your commentary on the Led Zeppelin song 'Thank You' it's my favorite by them. So glad I was born in 1954, we got to hear and see in concert what are arguably some of the best bands ever.

You NEED to listen to EVERY Led Zeppelin song TODAY.....Led Zeppelin covers many genres....funk...country...folk...rock...reggae...swing...eastern...etc etc

Now check out his newest live song with Allison Krause 'High and Lonesome'. Amazing song...50 years later and he still brings the heat!!

Saw this live a couple months ago...Most excellent for sure!

This is beyond rock. It's blues/jazz, these guys are real musicians flexing mastery way out on the edge of being. One tiny misstep and everything would fall apart.

I grew up with this music .That was one of the bbbesst era of music ever.

If you followed them on tour, you'd never see the same show twice. Every show, every set list, every solo, and every vocal choice you hear is improvised on the spot. These guys went out there night after night and just JAMMED.

16:39 in the album version, when Robert sang the part “oh my tears that fell like rain.. don’t you see them fall”, the drum actually followed with the beats that imitated the emotional impact of tears falling! Love it!

I attended that MSG concert in '73, and again in '74 at MSG. To this day, the '73 show is the best concert of my lifetime.

My best friends and I were raised by Zeppelin, Rush and Floyd. That pretty much creates a foundation for loving all styles of music. Thankyou 70's!!!

This has to be one of the best performances of all time, in my opinion. The talent, tightness of the band, and vocal range are all just astounding. I've watched it hundreds of times and am almost brought to tears, every time he hits that last apex, near the end: SO THRILLING! Has to be one of the most mesmerizing, erotic, AMAZING performances I've ever seen! Really showcases their cohesiveness as a band. The call and response is amazing, as it always is with Led Zepplin...and, you add JPJ's bass and Bonzo's amazing drumming (usually in a very different time signature than the rest of the song with their catalog): you just CANNOT get much BETTER THAN THIS! LOVED your reaction. It matched mine, the first time I heard this song, years ago!! JUST INCREDIBLE. Thanks for your channel - I've really enjoyed watching your reactions! HUGS! ❤

This song just nails it for me in terms of emotions, page's guitar work is the centerpiece of this masterpiece and how he just weaves in and out of his notes. Definitely one of the best work page has done.

Blues at its best. I first heard Led Zeppelin when I was in the army and very sick with pneumonia in a hospital. Someone had a tape recorder with a tape of Zeppelin in it. I borrowed it and played it non-stop for days, just mesmerized and dumbfounded (in a good way). I was 19 at the time.
