What A Difference 1 Year Can Make In Bodybuilding (Ronnie Coleman 2002 vs 2003)

Спорт

What a difference indeed! From 2002 to 2003 Ronnie Coleman left the planet earth and went to parts unknown. He came back to earth just in time for the Olympia to display a body the world had never seen before and perhaps never will again. Considering how small he was in 2002 I think a comparison between these two versions would be very interesting. I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I did making it.

I don't care what anyone says. That 03 version of Coleman would have destroyed anyone who stood against him from any era. He was literally the only physique I ever saw when I was like wtf am I looking at here.

I am pretty sure that Chad was experimenting heavily on Big Ron during the early 2000's. No one had ever achieved that kind of mass and conditioning before, and it's not easy to maintain at all. Insulin resistance can become an enormous issue if left unchecked, and will always result in the same big, blown out gut and atrophied arms. Once Chad perfected the recipe his magnum opus was completed and put on display in 2003. Unfortunately Big Ron's injuries were becoming more debilitating with every passing year, and the decline became noticeable. Will we ever see something like this again? Yes, I believe so. With the ever-increasing amounts of knowledge we have it's certainly possible that another alien like Coleman will come along someday and blow us all away again. After all, the universe is a big place.

@Jason Stewart Not offended in the slightest brother. These are just reflections and you do with them what you will. I was simply expressing that yours is a contrary opinion to all evidence and 99.9% of the other human beings with an opinion. The man's training regime is called High Intensity and he is a proponent of partial and negative reps, using weight that you admittedly cannot handle, probably on a strict diet that you do not to adhere to and you say you are not impressed. You must absolutely tear the walls down at your gym and I would love to see any videos you have of you training. If you genuinely believe that it is dosage that separates, you are in for a very disappointing time in the sport. If you genuinely believe that you are currently outworking any professional bodybuilder, you are in for a very disappointing time in this sport. Genetics is a term disengenously used by some to comfort themselves. The elite are those who are among the genetically gifted, who are on the right drugs (which enable you to train more than those not) who WORK THE HARDEST. No Mr Olympia does not work hard.

I assume saying he was natural in 2002 was meant to be taken tongue and cheek but definitely ramped up dosages and added gear prior to the 2003 season. Not sure I would say he double his arm size but huge gains for sure. He has been quoted many times that he has no regrets but health wise one has to wonder if he would be leading a life now with much less pain much like Jay if he stayed closer to his 2002 physique and just worked on refining his symmetry and muscle maturity. Not taking anything away from Ronnie he went all in and left nothing at the gym that’s for sure but so sad to see his health struggles and painful life now and endless surgeries trying to reduce his pain and improve his quality of living

Yep!! I always thought Dorian in 1993 was astounding, and his improvement from 1992 was a one off in bodybuilding history! But Ronnie from 2002 to 2003 is just another level of ridiculous and impossible!! He was already a 5 time Mr Olympia, and a fully mature (38yrs old) and fully grown bodybuilder - yet he added around 50lbs of muscle - IN ONE YEAR!! Having said all that, my preference is still for the overall look of Arnie in 1971 and 1974, although obviously he isn't beating Ronnie on stage! The problem with Ronnie and all todays guys is how they look "relaxed" and how soft and bloated they look when not posing - see 6:20! Arnie and the guys from the 70's and 80's always looked hard and tight, and since we don't walk around posing all the time isn't that a preferable look??

No, that's not the case. Dorian Yates was the One Who decided to become big and to change the competition. He started the Mass Monster Era. Coleman instead Always wanted to be as big as possible. And he was big some years before(i think 1999 Is the best Coleman).

@Dj_M1 Dorian yates started the mass monster ERA. Everyone knows. The difference between Dorian in 1992 and 1993 IS incredible. Everyone before wasn't that big. He was the one that changed the game. I think you missed all. Coleman had some issues, that's why in 2002 was smaller. Dorian in 1992 was not at his full muscular potential on purpose. Then he decieded to be bigger.

My good lord, what a difference. He went from being a Greyhound Bus in '02, to a Mack Truck in '03. Je-sus! I'm interested in looking into Big Ron saying he was all naaa-tur-aallll in 2002. But as we know, Ronnie claimed he was natural when he earned his pro-card, and low and behold, I've always kinda believed him. Notice how I said, 'kinda'. Yeah, well, we'll never know exactly, right? With that said, I think it wouldn't be too far outside the fray to say that Sergio Olivia Sr. and Ronnie Coleman most likely had the most 'pure' bodybuilding genetics, that we know of. Anyway, just wanted to add something else, and that's how much I (we) appreciate your daily content of hilarious and introspective narrative you deliver, Marx. I look forward to it everyday. Thank you.

'02 he tried to get tighter, like 'his 99 and '98 shape because in '01 Jay took it to him. In '02 Ronnie was spilling out, soft, gooey and looked like Michelin man or Pillsbury Dough Boy. THe problem was he did two shows that year and '01 Arnold was maybe his all time best. So in '02 Ronnie got tighter but smaller and Gunter almost beat him in '02. In '03, Chad cook his kidneys with some beans, BBQ sauce, HGH, and more insulin. Honestly Ronnie only looked good in '98, '99, and '01. After that it was downhill for Ronnie but the IFBB let him win it becausee he had the combo of mostly size and conditioning and some shape.

The side triceps shot in from 2003 is completely doctored. You can tell in the lighting around his stomach Look at all the doctored thumbnails they look the same. It's too hars comparing blk n white pic's of the 70's guys let alone when it's hd and Eonnie at his heaviest n shredded. 2003 was impressive !! But his midsection was blown out. And he started to look like those roided up bulls he loses his shape. It pushes human limits I get it . But I don't think Bodybuilding is supposed to just be 90% size. Or else Paul Dillet would be 7 x Mr.O everyone has different structure and a guy 5-5 can have more muscularity than a guy 6ft
