If you only catch one part of this video, I’d recommend hearing out my thoughts at 24:04 about full body training. I loved getting to share some of these ideas with John and crush another workout together. Make sure you check out the vids we did on his channel as well (links in the description!). See you guys in another video soon! Peace!

I want a Gym like that. It's a dream. For your thoughts on full body, with my limited experience in fullbody I can only agree. A fullbody allow you more variation on movements. The recovery part is a bit tricky, I got back pain and a bit of elbow pain, but I can't start slowly...I'm an enthusiast.

Putting a resistance band on a Hammer Strength machine is absolute amateur hour. A Hammer Strength machine has already got a resistance curve that's been specifically designed to match the strength curve of the function of the musculature targeted by each machine across the broadest possible range of anthropometries & biomechanics. By adding a resistance band you're just reducing the productivity of the exercise by making the resistance curve too steep, which creates insufficient resistance for the first 3/4 of the ROM.

Then as soon as I start the workout I realize I dont have that in me when I'm working out alone and I always give up and take it easy on myself as soon as it starts to hurt! Dont get me wrong I'm still pushing myself and I still feel it 3 days later but working out legs alone , I dont have what it takes mentally to go to that place and push past the pain until my legs just stop pushing before my mind says that's enough.

Day 3 of the High Frequency training program. Loving it. For those interested in trying it there are three big take-aways: (1) if you're used to a bro-body split (hitting only say arms one day or chest another) then you'll find it difficult to restrain on volume. But you'll also be joyful with how you aren't absolutely smashed at the end of your workout. You'll still have gas in the tank. (2) Follow the prescribed loads and volume in the book. While it's tempting to think you know better and either increase the reps or RPE, the program is designed to load and de-load; you'll get time for the higher volume, heavier loads later. Finally (3) the program offers good variations on each movement. So if you're like me and you hide from certain movements, this program does a wonderful job of giving a range of movements, and sprinkling them throughout the programming; you have no place to hide. So far, so good.

I personally hate RPE training. Constantly over analyzing how many reps we think we have left is mind numbing. It’s easier just to think about leaving SOMETHING in the tank on the heavy barbell lifts, but taking the lighter isolation work to failure.

  • @tann_man

Adam Darwish sounds like you’re replacing load percentage with RPE. In that case weight doesn’t matter so long as RPE is x for y sets of z reps. alternatively replacing reps would look like: RPE x at y weight for z sets or replacing sets: RPE x at y weight for z reps
