The following video features various news and talent opens from WGN-TV in Chicago (available outside of the Chicago market through WGN America) from c. 1965 to present.
This is a reupload of the compilation originally uploaded on October 24, 2013 to include additional talent bumpers and opens, including the addition of a few clips from 1965 to 1980, available on FuzzyMemories.tv, as well as the intros and talent bumpers introduced in September 2014.

I lived in downtown Philadelphia back in the 90's and my cable company at the time had WGN. Whenever I watched their newscasts, I felt like I was living in another city.
5:15 was my favorite intro! Always loved the fly up!

Those Night Beat intros take me back when i used to stay up Summer nights, just to greet my father when he came home from work late nights.

What nostalgia. It takes me back to times I came home from work late at night, put the TV news on and saw/heard this familiar lead-in. Just great!
The wonderful world of magic is the music opening of the nightbeat intros from 1968 to 1981 which shows the city at night
I used to get WGN News on WGN America while living in Des Moines, IA
Oh the memories! I grew up in Chicago watching WGN. Does anyone remember the weather warnings with Marty McNeeley and the hands signing? That scared the bejesus out of me everytime!

In this clip 9:32 to 9:57, lt was WGN-TV'S WGN News at Noon Video Open From Monday Afternoon, January 9th, 2000.
that should say it was available outside of the Chicago market through WGN America from 1978-2015. WGN no longer does simulcasts of their news anymore.

love the classic openings.the one with marty mcneelly is from 1968.they should bring this one back
For some reason here in Kansas City we got WGN's noon and 6pm newscasts on WGN America.

Can you find the one in which the camera is panning across the Chicago skyline in broad daylight and hot pink and silver graphics flashing on screen which read Chicago's Very Own (or whatever it was) along with the 1980s nine logo?
Man can some one tell me where I can find the musicians who played the night beat intro, I would like a copy of it for my jazz group. It would be a great surprise to play for our older crowd. I love this beat. smooth, jazzy and somewhat sad but I love it.

At 6:00 to 6:20 and 7: 00 to 7: 30 you catch glimpses of a young Sonja Gantt , the daughter of a former mayor of Charlotte NC as an anchor . She returned to hometown and continued to anchor at a local station for about 20 years until she was retired .

I can honestly say hell has frozen over. Also very surprising that Fox Television Stations decided to take the CW to WPWR-TV after starting up My Network TV the same time.

I love Marcus Leshock as an anchor, but i hated him in the open and rejoins. His voice IMO sounds super robotic, and like he's nervous but him as an anchor he has a super great, warm, and funny personality.
