I'm nowhere old enough to have have experienced anything from the early 70s much less remember it, but these ad reels are phenomenally interesting and -- of course -- look fantastic. Having to dial 10 digits for every number you call wasn't brought to Illinois until the mid-90s, I don't think the 708 area code was introduced until the early 90s. It is a blast seeing all the 7-digit phone number complete with letters. When I would hear the whole klondike 5 kind of thing on TV shows, it seemed nutty. By the time I really paid attention to TV commercials, Lincoln Carpeting at NA2-9000 was the only business still using that concept in their business phone number... but who could blame them, that jingle was super catchy.

I really enjoy the commercials OVS unearths. They're a great time capsule of American culture. The Knox ad at 6:00: I found it quite interesting the girl was so upset about breaking a nail after briefly handling a bowling ball. I would think her anger over breaking a nail would have quickly been surpassed by the intense pain she'd be feeling after dropping that bowling ball on one if not both of her feet!

My father and I went to a Chicken Unlimited for dinner when they were practically dead to place an order. The guy at the counter said, "We are out of chicken." Without missing a beat, he replies, "How can you call yourself 'Chicken Unlimited,' when you ran out of chicken?"

Why would anyone order a burger from a chicken restaurant?

A lot of families have kids who are picky eaters. A lot of fast food chains try to offer burgers, hot dogs, or nuggets for the benefits of those families. I don't know if it is a sound business strategy to overly-expand a menu too much for those kinds of people, but it is smart business to have a few bland foods for your average kiddie to enjoy.

The same reason why people order chicken wings from a pizza place. Pizza hut takes orders all the time.

At 89 cents for a full meal I don't care if it's a chicken place. Matter of fact I will pay an extra 38 cents and not complain about it. Today For 89 cents I can't even buy a loaf of bread .

It’s Only in Chicago. Those small chains were very competitive with each other as well as towards the big chains. They are bit sensitive toward New York and LA. Always trying to get an edge.

@@joshuaturnage5243 I did an inflation calculator check, and it's $6.86 in today's money, but you can't buy all of that for $6.86 at a restaurant today.
