WEYMOUTH DORSET | England's best seaside holiday destination?
Weymouth, a charming coastal town nestled in Dorset, England with an amazing beach, historic harbour and boat trips galore, is a magnet for holidaymakers seeking a quintessential British seaside experience. Its popularity stems from a winning combination of stunning natural beauty, historical intrigue, and a vibrant atmosphere that caters to all ages.
Award-Winning Beaches: Weymouth boasts a golden arc of sand - Weymouth Beach - consistently ranked among Europe's finest. Imagine clear blue waters lapping at the shore, inviting swims, while gentle waves lull you into relaxation. Hire a deckchair, build sandcastles with the family, or simply soak up the sunshine - the beach beckons with endless possibilities.
A Glimpse into the Jurassic Past: Dinosaur enthusiasts rejoice! Weymouth sits proudly on the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with prehistoric treasures. Embark on fossil-hunting expeditions on the beach, unearthing remnants of a bygone era. Take a thrilling boat trip for breathtaking views of the Jurassic Coast cliffs, their geological majesty a testament to Earth's history.
A Family-Friendly Wonderland: Weymouth caters to every member of the family. The SEA LIFE Weymouth aquarium sparks wonder with its diverse marine life - witness graceful sharks, playful otters, and an array of fascinating underwater creatures. Kids will be enthralled by Sandworld, a seasonal haven featuring awe-inspiring sand sculptures that change themes each year. Let your imagination run wild amidst these incredible creations.
Historical Gems: Delve into Weymouth's rich past at Nothe Fort, a 19th-century marvel offering panoramic vistas of the harbor and bay. Explore its network of tunnels and gun emplacements, whispering tales of battles fought and triumphs won.
Weymouth Harbour: Take a leisurely stroll along the Weymouth Harbour, a bustling hub with colorful boats and a delightful selection of restaurants to tantalize your taste buds.
Adventures Beyond the Beach: Weymouth offers a plethora of activities beyond the beach. Explore the RSPB Radipole Lake, a haven for birdwatchers, where you can spot swans, herons, and a myriad of other feathered friends. Hike through the scenic landscapes or take a serene boat trip on the lake, a perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature.
A Gateway to Further Exploration: Weymouth serves as a springboard for exciting adventures. Journey to Portland Bill Lighthouse, a sentinel standing guard at the southern tip of Portland Island. Climb to the top for unrivaled coastal vistas or simply admire its iconic silhouette. Immerse yourself in local history at the Weymouth Museum, where exhibits unveil the fascinating story of the region, from prehistoric times to the present day.
Hidden Gems: Escape the crowds and discover Bowleaze Cove, a secluded paradise ideal for tranquil swims or sunbathing. Glide across the crystal-clear waters on a kayak or paddleboard, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Whether you seek relaxation or adventure, Weymouth's hidden coves offer a chance to unwind and create unforgettable memories.
Weymouth's charm lies in its ability to cater to a diverse range of interests. It's a haven for families seeking a fun-filled escape, history buffs yearning to explore the past, and nature lovers drawn to the beauty of the Jurassic Coast. We love Weymouth. We've been once and stayed at a campsite in the village of Nottington. We also went to the Abbotsbury Swannery and the Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens. I'm really looking forward to going back again. There's so much to do in and around Weymouth.

Weymouth looks gorgeous. Lots of historical interest and a great sea front and harbour. Great memories of coach trips to the area when I was a lad.

In my honest opinion I'd say Whitby is one of the best. I've visited both Whitby and Weymouth. Weymouth I visited years ago. There are 2 downsides in Weymouth. Back then the public toilets were not very clean. And then there's the closure of Brwers Quay. It was a quant little shopping area. Whitby is a bit like Weymouth with one side of the bridge is the harbour and the other side is the town, 199 steps. Whitby has a swing bridge, Weymouth the bridge goes up.

Since I was a child along with the donkeys and Punch and Judy there have always been little fair ground rides on the beach but I have to say the ones now are too much in your face 😟

Thank you so much for this wonderful video. Being stuck living in New Zealand at the moment there is nothing better than seeing my beautiful home town to lift my spirits. As a child I spent a day on the set of the film Far From the Madding Crowd, it was an amazing experience. Dorset is just a magical county 💕

Its was alot of fun especially when you are 7 years old. I was a few feet away from Terence Stamp riding his horse in the circus scene. I only spotted myself in the audience about 10 years ago 😂

Be sure to see a different side of comedian, Jim Davidson in his motor yacht videos, especially the one in Weymouth (He is a qualified Captain now, after passing his Yacht Masters exam a few years ago). He shows you around inside and everything.
