I know a lot of you guys probably won’t believe this, but it’s a true story. My grandma has a cockatiel (a small bird) and she takes him everywhere with her. So one day, she took him outside, and suddenly he flew off her shoulder and a hawk snatched him from the air. My grandma was devastated. But after about half an hour, she started to hear him call, and then he flew back into her yard. And he is still alive to this day.

Small dogs are always an easy target for EVERY predator, never let your pets outside in a place where predators roam free without supervision, specially if they’re small breeds of dog... True. People should be more responsible when having a pet in an area that has a lot of predators especially birds of prey because they can easily snatch your dog or cat and thats it. Eagles have also been recorded killing dangerous animals like foxes, bobcats and even coyotes so a small dog or a cat would be just a free meal

I am so very sorry, but if you leave fluffy little dogs outside without being with them anywhere, predators will often get them, even in the city. I have a red tail hawk that follows me every time I walk my little white dog. Hawks can carry off a 20 pound plus dog. Also if you knew there were coyotes you were aware enough to not leave any dog (even bigger dogs)outside, plus your fence is not going to protect your dogs from coyotes, mountain lions or any predator.

Red Tailed hawks cannot carry off a dog let alone a 20 pound dog. Even a bald eagle can’t carry off a 20 pound dog. Birds can only carry their body weight at most more likely only a third of their body weight. A red tail Hawk weighs like 2.5 pounds. They’re not going to carry anything bigger than a squirrel most likely.

Horned owls, eagles, hawks, coyotes, bobcats can appear out of nowhere. I'm not judging her at all, she didn't understand the danger, but it is important to raise awareness. That might spare another dog owner from ending up with a broken heart.

The area was unclosed on the roof and sides, front and back were open. Redtail came gliding down isle it happened in a blink of an eyeDog survived. I thought the dog owner might have a heart attack.

in those areas, it is best thing not to own small breeds. gldien retrivers, german shepherds. belgian malinois and shepherd dogs are the best to own. Its disheartening and sad yes absolutely, but even I have a Maltese and I watch that SOB like a hawk. Why because there are redtails around here, Hawks that is, and if they're hungry, guess what? That Maltese is gonna look appetizing. It's partially the reason why I don't like little dogs. You have to watch them especially if you're in the wild. Common sense. As tragic as it is there's something to be said about living in a place with larger wildlife, with a pet that's a bite-sized snack. Same if you live in a place with wolves or coyotes. You best have two or a year that's fenced in like this. Those things will call for your dog and get them to leave the property to find them. 100/100 they'll be killed and eaten.
