I've had three in my life. Lost the last one, Leo a 14-year-old, little over a year ago due to cancer. Most amazing dogs. Extremely intelligent, fun, loving, and loyal. Each time one passed was losing my best friend.

Sorry for your loss. Losing them is terrible, they are unforgetable every single one. Over 30+ years I've lost five myself. They will be forever missed. My current two German Shepard rascals are 10 and 12 months old and I'm loving every minute with them. Nothing compares.

All dogs are wonderful, but German shepherds are a true gift from God. Bloody hilarious, loyal, cuddly and the best friend you could ask for!

I had at least 1 GSD for over 35 years! I adopted one that 3 others couldn't handle. She was wonderful! They just didn't give her the time and affection she needed. After her, it was GSDs all the time in my life. I love the breed! Sadly, I’m too old and disabled to have another, and I miss them terribly! I downsized to a Cavachon, who I love.

When I was a kid we had a German shepherd. This was in the 1980’s. When my brother and our friends would go outside and wander the woods all day he was our escort/ bodyguard.❤❤

I've had my German Shepherd, Roxie, since she was 10 weeks old. She's 10 years now. She's been through it all with me. Meeting the love of my life. Moving in together. Getting married. 2 kids later and my youngest is 19 months now. And still Roxie will always be my baby. Not a lot of people understand but true dog people under this. Roxie was in fact a gift from God given to me at the right time.

Sometimes too smart for people that own them and end up in shelters or abused. The dog is extremely smart and trainable. Wish I could say that about some owners.

We had a German Shepherd dog when I was around 13 and my brother was 10. He was a very good dog, and yes, very smart. A sweet boy. too, to his family. Anyone else better watch out. My paternal grandma got inside our home while we were out. Von would not allow her to move off the couch. He would growl showing his teeth and rush at her.

German Shepards are an exceptionally intelligent breed. Smart enough to know that by being absolute donuts always guarantee a laugh from their owners.

I am a 61-year-old German Shepherd owner. I actually have two of them that I have raised from a pup. One is 11 and one is seven and they have been phenomenal companions, helpers, etc. The German Shepherd, without a doubt, is one of the best breeds out there. I have owned many different breeds like black lab and Rottweiler, but my German shepherds are by far my favorite now, and will be all I ever own

I am 76 and have had 6 GSDs. All from Germany of Schutzhund lines. 5 out of 6 have saved me from burglars. They really really love me, are so smart and fun. They need good training, especially social training. I can take my dogs anywhere and they are fun loving, unless the person has bad intentions. My youngest is only 2.5 years, so we have a long time together.

It's never long enough time together. I've had five at the same time of various age overlapping with only one remaining now at 12. When you have your own pack, you feel like a gang leader and when you open the van door it's like watching how many clowns get out of the VW Beetle. What's really funny is going through a guard check point gate and watching the persons expression when they open the liftgate.

Hard to beat for cuteness! The Shep expecting a 6-month-old baby to throw the ball for him. No words to describe the mixture of amazement and sheer joy at that moment!!! In fact, the whole video was an absolute joy. A great BIG thank you to the compiler!!!

My last 2 Shepard guarded/watched my grandchildren playing in the yard. He'd get up and walk to the side of the yard while they were playing. He'd get up and go to the other side of yard when the children moved, and lay down again! :)

I love my shepherds because they fill me with energy when I ought to be tired, and force me to snuggle when I think I don't want to. Hardly a day goes by that they do something silly or bad, and it sounds strange but I have had other breed dogs who behaved perfectly, and didn't bring me the same joy.

They're thinkers. My dachshund is a thinker. Smartest, most intuitive dog I've had after some of the best of the big breeds and mixes of the usual fave breeds. Buddy was a dumped pup who found my front door. I am in awe of his instincts and smarts. He can pick a creep out of a crowd and start loudly backing them towards the exit. Nobody sketchy allowed near his people or property.

All dogs are precious , that's why all dogs go to heaven !

German Shepherds are my favorite dogs of all being super intelligent, loyal, loving, protective of their owners, who will never let you down. And the best companion anyone can have, besides, they make terrific baby sitters for kids too. And as Police Officers they are the greatest. Our Shepherd would just go limp and dead weight when he didn’t want to do something, and if you tried to pick him up, he’d welp like you were hurting him. He would sing, chase sprinklers for hours, and he was all about the ball. Miss that dog.

This is so true that’s why I have eight of them. They are my kids. They are my only family.

This just makes me miss my shepherd. i wish i had the time and energy for a gs puppy.

We invest so much love in them they become an integral part of us and then , too soon they’re gone and it genuinely feels like part of you has died.

One of my grandpups is a German shepherd. He is so smart! I love how he looks at his parents. I swear if he had opposable thumbs he could take over the world😂

Very Loyal Dogs...i used to walk my friends German Shepherd...we have to almost spel the Words...even if we said i thing i walk to the station, if his fog heard it he runned to get the leach ..and he was so protected of me if someone came in my direction in the parks he runned to my direction..to be around me... My beautiful,,Yorkie,,

a vet told me the word down & sit are first words we use with dogs. so when you want your dog to get off the furniture don't use Down say off...x

@thresaann7388 Actually they are very keen on understanding limitations...when I was injured my GSD knew and was careful. He even went down steps on a leash one stair step at a time while watching me and waiting.

Alot of these dogs are Belgian Malinois another brilliant breed💜
