My childhood friend’s mom used to make a taco salad with Catalina and it was sooo good. I was somewhat picky as a kid and I loved it
My platoon Sargent taught me a recipe with Catalina that I love. It has lettuce , taco meat, kidney beans, tomatoes, shredded cheese, green onions, nacho cheese Doritos and Catalina dressing. It is delicious!!

Sounds exactly like the taco salad my husband makes from his childhood. Sadly he puts ketchup on his but I am the Catalina or Western dressing type for mine!
I grew up on the Western dressing, it was a staple in 1970's Midwestern homes so it's a nostalgic favorite of mine. Best on a typical side salad or a classic chef salad imo. Catalina dressing is actually really good paired alongside ranch on a salad bar type salad - you gotta try it!
I love Catalina dressing so dang much. Kraft used to make a Tomato Bacon dressing that was fire!!!!! I miss it soooo bad!!!!

I use Catalina and taco sauce in my taco salad. So good!
Ask some seniors in your community to cook for them for a night. It's a great way to help the community.
My grandmother loved Western dressing. So I grew up with it. I love it on taco salad and walking taco, lol. It's garlicky and tart and lightly sweet. I think it's just what you're used to. Just think how boring we would be if we all like the same things lol 😂
Okay, so hear me out before you decide it's disgusting. 😂 I grew up eating cold taco salad with Western dressing. My grandma always fixed it--so often that when she passed, one of the things I just had to have was her famous "taco salad bowl." It's cold (yes, cold!) taco meat, chopped lettuce, shredded cheese and the Western dressing.(lots of it!). Everyone else always added tomatoes and onions, but I'm not a fan. It is delicious! Oh, the dressing needs to be cold, as well, for the best taste! I'd love for you to try it and hear your opinion!

My dad LOVES Catalina. We had it growing up, a lot. Not too shabby.
My husband is a Western man for salads & Ranch for dipping. I like all kinds of dressing. I do have a couple friends who will mix the French & Ranch together for their salads. It's not bad. Lol

@k1mmypooh602 love mixing those together too. My best friend taught me how to back in the 3rd grade. I'm 46 and still eat it. It's that good.
Growing up we always put Russian dressing on our roast beef sandwiches... I hadn't thought about that in YEARS.
I make a baked potatoe topper using Catalina dressing. In a bowl use 1 -2 broccoli crowns cut into bite sized pieces (no stems), 1 pound sliced white mushrooms, and 1 diced red pepper. Pour Catalina dressing, 1/2 to 3/4ths bottle, over vegetables. Mix well. Refrigerate for at least 6 to 8 hours, mixing every once in awhile( it will shrink in volume as flavors are absorbed). Top on a baked potatoe. Finish off with cheese, sour cream, or green onions. Enjoy! So good!
Taco Salad with Western Dressing is my faaaaaaave
Easy recipe idea to use the rest of your Catalina dressing. Chicken Thighs, 1 packet of onion soup mix, apricot preserves, and the rest of that Catalina dressing. Bake and enjoy some super easy, delicious Sweet and Sour Chicken.😊
Midwest Supper Club favorite has to be Dorothy Lynch salad dressing. I grew up with my grandma making her home made version, shaken in a mason jar and set beside a sad “tossed salad” of iceberg lettuce, some sliced carrots and radishes and tomatoes from the garden. If you can’t find Dorothy Lynch salad dressing where you live the recipe lives on Pinterest. Same for refrigerator pickles and creamed peas. Welcome to Iowa!
I grew up in Michigan and we used Western! My husband and I use it now for taco salads. Supppper good
Catalina on taco salad is the best!
DUDE you have to try Catalina bread!! Get a loaf of garlic bread from the store bakery, top with Catalina dressing and shredded cheese then bake.. OMG 🤤🤤
My family has always been Catalina. You really want your mind blown mix Catalina and ranch together 🤯 it’s SO good!!
If you're gonna do a true test on if you like Catalina, you gotta make taco salad. It's the ONLY way I'll eat it, it's not taco salad without it for me

You got sweet french. Try the regular
growing up my grandmother had catalina and the creamy french dressing in her fridge and man does it scream my childhood. Because she would always make a throw together salad before we had dinner and im telling you that orange colored dressing always hit 👏🏻
Catalina is my favorite. ❤ Sometimes, I add hot sauce or horseradish to make it spicy and use it in place of BBQ sauce on BBQ-ed meats. Yum 😋

This is how I like Catalina dressing. I live in Arkansas! Catalina Salad Lettuce Shredded sharp cheddar cheese Pinto beans 1 can drained and rinsed Cherry tomatoes cut up 1/2 pint Red onion Fritos Catalina dressing 16 oz Add Fritos right before serving
A little catalina and a little bleu cheese on a salad..chef's kiss!!

@@andrearostad7306 I’ve tried it with homemade French and store bought Catalina and I found them to be very similar. I guess if I had to choose a favorite it would be the Catalina. I should also add that you need about 2-3 lbs of bone in chicken pieces and bake at 350*F for 50-60 minutes. Reduce the cooking time for boneless chicken. Also good for the slowcooker, just increase the cooking time.
The Catalina or the Russian make for one hell of a chicken marinade, trust me. Do that next, I promise you. Now I can’t give out my family’s secret recipe for it because it’s way more than just the dressing, but play around with it and you’ll see. It’s fantastic.
I was first introduced to Catalina dressing as a teenager and loved it. I do like a lot of different dressings so it fit right in, but I do have to have a taste for it since the sweetness can become a bit overwhelming
There’s a recipe where you use the Russin dressing with a can of pineapple tidbits, and some chicken and you can make your own version of sweet-and-sour chicken in the crockpot.
My raggedy salads do not include ham or bacon. It’s more like iceberg, croutons, cheese, cucumbers, and maybe shredded carrots lol
Catalina is used a lot on taco salad it was a good pot luck salad taco salad with Fritos and then add the Catalina and mix last minute not bad but I’m a ranch b too lol 😂
I love the Kraft Catalina!! I use it on my taco salads with nacho cheese Doritos all the time, it’s SO good!
Loved this! I love all your videos that I have seen. Thanks for trying things, so we won’t have to! ❤
Catalina is the best one I use it in my taco salad it works everyone loves it.. 😊
Your videos are such a treat a treat.🙂🙃
In the northern plain states - Western is often used on a salad made of lettuce, nacho cheese doritos, cheese, corn, and taco meat. It's a staple for any church pot luck.
There is a restaurant here in Atlantic Canada called Pizza Delight. They make a pasta salad with fusili pasta, that frozen mixed vegetable blend, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheddar cheese, and Catalina or French dressing. I know it might not sound good, but it's really good. There are lots of salads that use those dressings. I know someone who got French dressing thinking she would like it, and she found it too sweet. She hates to waste so she played around with it. Added in some vinegar or lemon juice, even tried mixing it with some plain greek yogurt. Some worked better than others. But she was able to use it up.

Your friend is commendable. My mom always taught us that having food is a blessing & that there were (and still to this day) children who were hungry in our small town. To this very day, I've never forgotten that lesson... My mom is 87 yrs old & her words are STILL TRUTHFUL 🥹🩷😥
CATALINA Bishes!!!
Love Catalina and love the reference to one of my all time favorite conversation "Step Brothers"
You should do Thousand Island comparisons and include Bob's Big Boy, Lite House and Ken's.
I love Catalina!❤
Catalina with spinach, fritos, corn, and pinto beans! Sooo good
My favorite is Western....its like chick fil a Polynesian sauce...mmmmm....its super good on taco salad too ...the bottle has the recipe on it too ...I think😂
We love Catalina with taco salad! It’s yummy with all the typical taco salad ingredients. Don’t skip out on salsa and sour cream too. It all taste so yummy together. We use Russian with equal parts pineapple apricot jelly and crushed pineapple. Bake your chicken in the sauce mixture and serve over your favorite rice. Family favorite!
I love the Western or Russian on my regular salad with chicken. I love the Catalina on my taco salad, yes taco salad. It shouldn't work but it does.

Catalina is for taco salad, the one with Doritos at the picnic!
MY FAVORITE AND ALWAYS IN MY PANTRY IS CATALINA.
Russian chicken. Chicken breast or thighs whichever you choose, a bottle of Russian dressing and can of whole cranberries all dumped in crockpot… cook like you’d cook chicken & serve with mashed potato’s or rice.
Roast beef and Swiss melted on a pita. Dip it in creamy French or Catalina. Delicious. I used to also make chicken tender wraps (chicken tenders, lettuce, and cheese wrapped in a tortilla with French or Catalina dressing. My grams used to eat cottage cheese and pineapple with Russian dressing. I can say I never tried that lol.
Love me some Catalina reminds me of grandmas house Catalina salads and the smell of pine sol . We were a ranch house so when I went to grandmas I knew I was getting some of that Catalina dressing so good
Love the title 😂😂😂 now i gotta watch Step Brothers 😂
Catalina is yummy. I don't eat it very often because I'm a ranch b**ch but it's my favorite for when I want something different. I've gotta say though.... that Garlic Ranch (was it a ranch? Lol) that you tested in the other video is friggin awesome!! It's like the garlic dipping sauces for pizza. I love it with chicken strips & fries. I'd probably love it on pizza too. I haven't tried that yet but I will!
Catalina goes on chicken pasta salad. Broccoli, green onions, bell peppers, carrots, & chicken that’s cooked with Worcestershire & Cajun seasoning. I’ve added spinach, tomatoes, romaine, shallots & cucumber too. Just depends what I feel like. Just giving you an idea for that Catalina.

My Mom’s Cheatin’ BBQ sauce: 1 bottle Russian dressing 1 jar apricot jam 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix It’s so good! Very sticky 😂 And Western is great on a Taco Salad with Kraft Green Goddess!
As an eighties kid from MN, I remember Ranch and French put together on a salad. Also, Western was a popular restaurant salad dressing.
I’m a thousand island dressing girl myself 🥰🥰
We are a Catalina family (after ranch, of course) but the zesty Catalina is the best!!! 😍
FOUR “Watch your face” in one video?? Love it I’ve never had any of these dressings 😂
You can take the losers and leave them in the work fridge for your coworkers to steal, lol
Haven’t had it in a while, but I Love Catalina, especially in taco salad. I just hate they use Red 40 in this dressing. Imo the tomatoes should have been enough to use for the color
Science in the Car Kitchen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The Catalina is good on a taco salad 😊
My dad introduced me to Catalina about 40 years ago. Still my fav
I always thought wishbone was inferior, so glad to hear Catalina won!
I love all kinds of dressings, and I love both Catalina and French 😋 Growing up, Mom made a delicious Black Eyed Pea Salad to go with bbq or grilled meat that used Catalina and I still make it today. It's super easy: - Two cans of black eyed peas, drained and rinsed (you could use any bean you like, really) - Half a red onion, diced (I love onion, so I add a little more) - 2 Haas avocados, diced - Catalina dressing (add to your desired consistency) - salt, pepper, and hot sauce to taste - Optional additions: olives, crumbled bacon, spinach or arugula, tomatoes, parsley or basil So that's the basic recipe, plus additional suggestions. Don't skip the avocado though, unless you must. Avocados taste really good with Catalina dressing!😋💜
I use Catalina dressing when I make Taco Salad
Catalina has always been my favorite
My ol' man loves his salad with Hidden Valley Ranch and Kraft Catalina mixed. But he also thinks a salad is only iceburg lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. 😂 His are anyways.
I normally NEVER eat kraft cause yeah it taste like platic but the Catalina from kraft is amazing ! Especially on a homemade sub with chicken
Betty's dressing, so good!
I havent come across a red french dressing. Is that a u.s thing? In Toronto its an orange colour. I like the Catalina though. 1st dressing I ever tasted as a kid.
Use dressing with some onion soup mix as a marinade for chicken
We are a Catalina household!! It’s my Dads favorite! My mom always keeps at least 2 bottles in the pantry as back-up!
It's the mutha truckin' "CATALINA WINE MIXER"😂😂😂 Come through with the "Step Brother's" reference 👏👏👏👏
They Don't taste the same. Also the Wishbone French that is Orange is Amazing! I'm not a craft girl either but for Catalina it is #1.
I like a Catalina. To me it's a bit tangier and less sweet than French. I use it in my basic wraps when it's just like ham cheese and some veggies and it's super yummy.
The title brought me here😂 but I use Catalina on taco salad or taco /fajita wraps and things
I love Catalina dressing I love to use it for taco salad and it makes a very good pasta salad with whatever veggies you'd like an add a little mayonnaise to it so it has like a creamy zingy flavor my fiance makes me make it all summer long
Taco salad! Salad mix, taco meat, crushed doritos and catalina/french! Amazing!!!! ❤❤
My favorite was the French dressing, then again... I don't think I've eaten it since I was a little kid. So my tastes may have changed. I remember loving it with the tomatoes. The sweet against the sweet and acidic was my jam growing up.
Use the extras to marinade meat for grilling. The sugar gives the meat a great char
Catalina is delicious on pizza. Seriously. Try it.
Catalina is great but I always add a little salt to cut down on the sweetness. It's great as a dip for carrots
Big basic salad with romaine for texture. Ground beef or whatever with taco seasoning in bigger crumbles. Whatever else ie onion, black olives, etc use the Catalina and Doritos crumbled up on top. Bomb.
Russian dressing is a go to for noodle dishes. Hell, I've even been lazy and used it on spaghetti. It was tasty.
Western and ranch together…love it
Catalina goes on taco salad
To use up some of that left-over catalina dressing: saute onions and peppers, add cubed cooked chicken and catalina dressing... heat through - serve over rice. 🧡🧡
Try Catalina on pepperoni pizza. I promise you’ll love it 🥰
I've been in a Western dressing phase for a while after not having it for years. Now I want to try the Russian.
I use some western in my taco seasoning with crushed red pepper for my taco salad. A lil sweet&spicy
