    Pure gold lesson! Studying Whit's style has been a tremendous aid to my development as a swing/western swing comper. He's one of the best, most authentic players today in this traditional approach.

    This is PERFECT!!! Sir, you just upped my guitar playing in ONE LESSON! Thank You!! Now, who in their right-mind thought to give this a "thumbs-down?" That smells like the very strong odor of jealousy!!!

    Saw Cowtown in a small patio in Paonia, Colorado once. they were playing a much bigger show that night for the county. Most amazing trio I swear. This guy, as the other two, are at the top of the game. Superb playing, technique and taste. Every song ... so lush.

    Not sure if you have another site with notation & theory? But if No. I recommend adding visual aids to your lessons, which will assist in so many ways, time sigs, and chord progression breakdowns & why. This would help players newto Western swing, but coming from other genres...👍😃🎸🎼🎶🎵

    it's an Fmaj 7 - if you l play an Fmaj 7 at the 5th fret and drop your pinkie to the E on the 7th fret 5th string (which means you now have two Es in the inversion) then its the sane as an Am. Also A minor is relative minor of F.

  • @fiddlefolk

    @fiddlefolk

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TheJazzcritic Actually Am is relative to C Major. Am, Cmaj6, Fmaj7 chords have the same triad. C,E,A. What determines which chord is which is determined by the bass note. Example: F bass note with A,E,C triad = Fmaj7 chord. The cool thing knowing this is you can play your Aminor licks over Fmaj7 or Cmaj6 licks and they sound awesome. All those licks are actually interchangeable over all 3 chords.

  • @fiddlefolk

    @fiddlefolk

    Жыл бұрын

    @@craigparker1146 the 3 minor in the key of C is E minor. That triad with a C in the bass gives you a Cmaj 7 chord. So that basically means that all of your Cmaj7 licks work over E minor and vice versa

    Are you really teaching people to fret with their thumbs to play rhythm guitar? Sorry, that seems self-taught and unnecessary… You can go back to Freddie Greene to see a much easier way to do that. 😉
