You know something? I don't think they put the White House Press Secretary's office far enough away from the White House Briefing Room.

  • @partyguy101ify

There's a method to their madness. By placing the Press Secretary's office opposite the Briefing Room instead of next to it, it allows the Press Secretary to gather last-minute information in the bullpen on the way to the podium. The walk-and-talk, which White House staffers probably do in real life given the fast-pace nature of the job, allows the Press Secretary to get pumped up before getting behind the podium. Otherwise, you would feel like Toby and not give a shit which does not play out well in front of the cameras.

i think it's worth mentioning that cj takes the most inefficient way possible to get from her office to the briefing room. she goes thru the lobby twice, she goes in circles, etc. there's a video somewhere out there that shows you exactly what route she takes

She’s circling around all the offices, ostensibly to drop off documents with various people but really so Sorkin can get his long walk-n-talk shot and pretend that’s what the Press Secretary really does before a briefing

CJ took the most inefficient way to get to the briefing room. She goes from her office down to the deputy chief of staff bullpen, through the lobby, down the hall to Leo’s outer office back to the hall and into the communications bullpen back to the hall, back to the lobby and into the deputy chief of staff bullpen down past her office and into the hall outside the briefing room. She could have just turned right out of her office, then turned right in the hall and been a few seconds further briefing room but then she would have missed Toby, Leo, and Sam.
