West Seattle businesses hold rally ahead of light rail decision

On Thursday night, West Seattle businesses held a rally ahead of a decision about where the light rail extension will be built. Sound Transit will not announce its plans for the location until later this year, but there is a grassroots effort to raise awareness now.
For Laurel Trujillo, a lot is on the line.
"My time, my money, my everything has been poured into this business for eight years now, and all to be faced with a bulldozer essentially coming in and demolishing it,” said Trujillo.
At Ounces Taproom and Beer Garden, it's a possibility because Sound Transit wants to add four miles of light rail service from SODO to West Seattle's Alaska Junction neighborhood.

So cut a deal with them to have your bar connected to the station. You’ll get more business than ever before

Honestly. There is nothing in that area. I think it would be a good spot for the light rail because going over there as a bus rider is long and complicated.

How did she not know this? The locations and plan have been in the works for 14 years. The vote for it was in 2010.

Why couldn't there be commercial facilities inside the station? A bar, restaurant, and other conveniences within station sounds perfectly reasonable to me and happens all across the globe. It also sounds like a great way to fund the light rail through rent.

No one wants to ride unsafe filthy public transit, and deal with their unreliable schedules, and insanely bad budget management. Bring back old Seattle. Less public transportation. Less density. Less tech.

The light rail train always runs on schedule unless there is a major disaster! It isn't a bus. It doesn't get stuck in traffic. The bad budget management was the monorail. A completely different body. Some of the light rail projects are opening early because they are ahead of schedule.

Sound Transit and public transit in general is a lost money endeavor with barely 25% of the funding coming from the ridership. It is a giant money pit and the taxpayers are getting screwed.

That is patently misinformed. I've been on the train from SeaTac to Northgate and it was packed the whole way. Every time I've ridden the train it has been close to full or even standing room.
