The 2nd annual West Kauai Long Distance Canoe Race was held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023. The weather was near perfect for the first leg of the race which started in front of Kukui'ula harbor and ended just outside the Port Allen harbor in Hanapepe Bay. The Kai'ola mixed team took first in their new Are Matahina. The men's teams had significantly more swell and wind for the second stage of the race which started just off the beach in Hanapepe Bay and finished outside the Kikiaola harbor in Kekaha. Congratulations to Hanalei for the win.
!!! Mahalo Nui Loa !!! to West Kauai Canoe Club for their work to make this race happen. As they did last year, the club gave special recognition to the Na Opio who compete in outrigger canoe racing. Once again, the club delivered an excellent race for a large group of top tier competitors on Kauai.
