Each year, the Waimea Town Celebration on Kauai includes the first six-person outrigger canoe race of the year. Hosted by the Kilohana Canoe Club, it's always super fun, with great competition and lots of opportunities to see friends and acquaintances that we've not seen since the end of the previous season. Many mahalos go out to Kaina, Dave, Mahealani, Val, and all the others who work so hard to make the race possible. Special thanks to Capt. Andy's Sailing Adventures for their support of outrigger racing on Kauai. Also, special thanks to Keoki's Paradise, which can be found contributing to pretty much every worthy cause on Kauai - you guys rock!
And last, may my poor DJI mini 2s drone rest in peace at the bottom of the ocean. I crashed it during the first race - pure operator error. I was swooping down while rotating around the Kilohana na opio team and held the down stick just a bit too long 😒. The good news is that the phone I use to control the flight captures 1080p resolution video so at least the footage wasn't a total loss.
