The triplets are almost eight weeks old and the nest seems to have gotten much smaller with the growing size of the eaglets. Treasure was hopping and trying to do some wingercising, goes to the front of the nest and then wants to slide in next to Sterling but that is not a good game plan and a squabble ensues. Sterling is peeved and bites at Treasure's head who is right on the edge of the nest trying not to fall off flapping its wings. Treasure took the bonking and remained on that section of the nest and hung its head for a few minutes afterwards.
As the eaglets begin to wingercise more in the coming weeks, tempers are bound to rise with wings hitting one another. They will have to take turns at exercising their wings lol
Chet will fly in with a fish and he begins to feed Koa and Treasure. Sterling gets in there to get bites. Koa grabs some big bites of fish & swallows and also will do some self feeding! Koa swallows the tail and has to work it down its throat afterwards. Treasure works on self feeding as well and Sterling has a nice crop - another successful feeding by Dad for the triplets. Nest info: Eaglets WE1 (Koa), hatch 3/9 -3am; WE2 (Treasure), hatch 3/9 -7pm; WE3 (Sterling) 3/12 hatch by 4:10am; Thunder (F) 15 yrs old; Akecheta (M) (wing tag 61) 8 yrs old.
This eagle pair is a success story, part of a bald eagle restoration program started by the Institute for Wildlife Studies in 1980. Their nest has been active since 1991 and has been streaming live since 2005.

lh2906. Having gotten this far without falling--not likely they will now, from anything they do. They have good balance and if they slip off Edge of Nest can "Wing Glide Down" the sloped rock surface below to a holding crevice or flat open space that can hold them for rescue. Dr. sharp rescued one(from last E trio several yrs ago) from the prior nest position above this one when it fell off edge of Nest. Full Flight ability just around Corner ! L H . Thanks for posting.

Hi Kathleen no they won't be banded this year - loss of funding is the biggest reason now that the Montrose settlement funds have been exhausted. I hope that next year they might be able to fit the banding into their budget.
Looks like one little one isn't getting any food ! 🤔
