Kane is still playing today, albeit for the Detroit Red Wings. He isn't as good as he used to be but he is still good. The Hawks traded him and let Jonathan Toews because they wanted to rebuild. And finish last so they could get the #1 draft pick and get Connor Bedard...

he had his 2nd highest 5v5 goals per 60 of his career this year, and 2nd most game winners (in only 49 full games). several other of his analytics were at or near career bests, esp relative to teammates. and if you actually watch his goals for the year you may be surprised by what the goals actually look like, esp as the goes on. the 'in his prime' modifier people use on Kane needs to be put to rest.

Kane and Toews really defined hockey culture during their Hawks dynasty years. Without them I wouldn’t be the hockey fan I am today. Kane also changed the way smaller players are valued in the league. What a clutch player, and he’s still going strong after an extremely invasive hip resurfacing surgery. He even just scored an overtime winner last night for Detroit in true Kaner fashion.

If you’re talking about the OT winner that he scored in his Chicago return then you are absolutely right!! I was at the game and as soon as he was all alone on the breakaway I instantly knew the game was over. Showtime was about to end the game and I was honestly happy with that outcome. Yes, the blackhawks lost, but man it was awesome to see a legendary moment like that live.

Patrick Kane won the Stanley Cup in OT against Philly in overtime in this video. Watching a team win a series in OT is one of the best things in sports (provided that you don't get eliminated as a result, of course). Next thing you should look up is series-winning OT goals. I've never seen pure euphoria like that. It's one of the best things to see in sports. You guys have probably never seen a crowd react like it does when the home team ends the series like that. As for people to look up: McDavid, Jagr, Lidstrom, Bedard, Ovechkin, and Crosby. Everybody except for Bedard is a first-ballot HOF person. It's too early to say for Bedard, though. He just got drafted.

Kane is one of the most clutch players of all time. The bigger the stage, the more important the moment, the more likely he is to win in spectacular fashion. I feel lucky I've gotten to watch his career. And now he's doing what no other player in history has been able to: return from hip resurfacing surgery and dominate.

That last goal, as you now know, won the Cup for Chicago. The Kings are the only other team in the last 20 years or so to end the season with an OT winner like that. They ended 2014 with a game winner in double overtime. One you should look up is series-ending OT winners. There's a boatload of those here on KZread. I've never seen pure euphoria like when the home team wins a series in OT.

Kane is probably the best American to ever lace them up. As a Flyers fan it pains me because the year he was drafted the Flyers had the worst season of any team but lost the draft lottery, then 2 years later Kane scores the game winning over time goal against the Flyers to win the cup. He had a game breaking ability to take over games. You would see him rushing up the ice with the puck and just know it was ending up in the back of the net and he wouldn't be denied. He just had a switch he could turn on in the playoffs. Special talent, special player, fun to watch. Won 3 cups with the Blackhawks and probably should have been the Conn Smythe recipient in every one of those runs

I love how you guys reacted to the Stanley cup winning goal he scored. Has to be one of the craziest endings in sports history. Nobody except Kane knew it went in, you can see many of the Blackhawks players were confused and didn’t want to celebrate too early.

Is "spin-a-rooney" an expression in the UK? I've heard reactor Adam Couser also use it. The North American word is "spin-a-rama." Patrick Kane, who's still playing at age 35, is second all-time in scoring for U.S.-born players. He's recently returned from major surgery, so it's questionable if he can play long enough to overtake the leader, Mike Modano.
