    I’ve noticed that in the last 10 to 15 years the vast majority of all items introduced by fast food chains are always spicy or hot. Very rarely is there an introduction of a product that is just a unique flavor without it being touted as hot or spicy. Most new items are just another variation of chipotle, habanero, jalapeños, Tabasco, green chilies,, red pepper, etc.

    @@PCgamer923 stopped at Jack in the Box for lunch today because it was 9 in the morning and I wasn’t in the mood for second breakfast so they were the only option for lunch. I got my favorite burger there, the Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger. They now charge $15 after tax for the medium combo w/curly fries where I live. When I got my burger, they forgot the bacon, the sandwich looked to be ~1in less in diameter than I remembered (but they bumped the quality of the bun up probably hoping that people wouldn’t notice the burger shrinkage) and they freaking charge for ranch now. I was so disappointed, I don’t think I’ll be going back there anytime soon.

    Items labeled "spicy" are always avoided by those who do not like spicy. However, people who like spicy want spicy. So, it is perplexing when a product is marketed as spicy, with the inference being in this case "super spicy with all of the ghost pepper symbolism... why companies just produce lackluster medium or mild spice. If it's marketed as ghost pepper... then make it friggen spicy.

    I remember when the spicy chicken sandwich first made its debut as a limited time item many decades ago, and it had quite a kick to it. It quickly became my favorite. It didn't take long before the spice got watered down. The same happened to their chili, which was once amazing, but the last time I had it, it was just loaded with salt. You'd think American companies would take chili heat seriously. I always take my own hot sauce with me on the road. 8)

    Anything new will have a promotional poster and take up half the menu, so it’s hard to miss. And generally if you eat fast food you’ve already had everything on the menu. So people end up ordering the new thing, often it’s the same thing but with different amounts. Like 20 chicken nuggets for $6 or something, and they call that new

    For me, it’s the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige. One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, “Wow, three for free!” and the nice friendly McDonald’s worker laughed and said, “I’m going to call you 3-for-free!”. Now the staff greets me with “hey it’s 3-for-free!” and ALWAYS give me three packets. It’s such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald’s restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I’m in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs. I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it’s delicious! What a great restaurant.

    I feel as though the spice will never live up to expectations. They can't actually incorporate ghost pepper. People would have to sign a waiver everytime they order it due to the danger, and people could make cases of it being too spicy if it damaged their body in any way. Its probably some knockoff or diluted so much it doesn't actually burn.

  • @Idran

    @Idran

    Жыл бұрын

    They're only dangerous to that point if you eat like multiple pounds of whole peppers in a single sitting. Like, 2% of your body weight in whole ghost peppers. When it's just a few ounces like this, there's no danger at all. Especially since at least some of it (like in the breading) is going to be dried and ground. I guess you might count that as diluted? But it's only diluted in so much as it's being used as an ingredient instead of eating a whole unprepared pepper. The FDA would come down on them _hard_ if they were advertising a specific ingredient that they weren't actually using. That's a multimillion dollar fine and an injunction to stop sales type of thing.

    I like the kicked up just enough notch to add another dimension of flavor. I can "handle" a fair amount of heat, but I like it as a seasoning, not an overwhelmer. The real reason that people gravitate so much towards excessive amounts of heat is that your body thinks it has become burned when you experience the sensation of being burned. It feels the heat and it translates in your brain to that you have become injured. Your body is nice enough to send out biological responses to being burned or injured. It will pour out excess serotonins, etc. to combat your perceived pain. This gives you a high of sorts The body ends up craving that high, and you are drawn to the taste of more excess heat, at greater levels, to get that high.

    I don't know if anyone else picked up on it, but the portal being inter-dimensional (rather than intra-dimensional) means our friend here is getting Wendy's from a dimension not our own. This has wide-ranging implications. Will this chicken sandwich be the same when I get it?
