    Just so you all know this is the same gen set as the 2000 watt inverter Predator at Harbor freight. Mine also plugged up the spark arrestor at about 60 hours. So the engine tried to push through it and was blowing black smoke from the back pressure and running rich from not being able to vent. I threw my spark arrestor in the garbage it is crap.

    Great video my friend... Thank you. I am trying to figure out how to install an extension on the exhaust so I can keep it running inside my generator shed but exhaust the hot air through a pipe outside the generator shed to keep it cooler in the shed when the generator is running. Any ideas???

    So I have a Yamaha 2200 watt quiet inverter generator that I ran for about 8-12 hours a day, every single day for a little over 1 year before I ran into any problems. Turns out the problem I had was a clogged spark arrestor. Thankfully I figured that out and how to clean it by myself. One big difference between the generator in this video and my Yamaha is that I can't take the spark arrestor out. Makes it a pain in the ass the clean. Anyway, I usually clean it every month or so when I change the oil. It ran pretty good for almost another year before I ran into the problem I'm having now that I can't figure out. One night the generator shut off after running for about 10 minutes. Took about 20 pulls before it would start back up, keep in mind this generator usually always starts on the first pull. But after I got it running it shut off after about 5 minutes and it just keeps doing that. I discovered that my air filter was practically covered with oil. I think when I tilted it forward to drain the old oil that it somehow got into the gas and eventually over time clogged my air filter with oil. I drained everything and removed the air filter, cleaned the air filter and put fresh oil and gas into the generator and started it up. It ran about 30 minutes before shutting off. When I was checking it out I found more oil on the air filter. I'm not sure what would be causing this or what I can do about it. Sorry for the extremely long comment but I want to give as much detail as possible so that someone might be able to help me. I run the generator so often because I basically live off of it. I'm in a rough time in life, living in an old rundown camper and the generator is my only means of basic survival. It was an 1,100$ gift from my former boss and friend and I want to show my appreciation for his incredible generosity by taking care of it as best as I can. Any help or advice from anyone reading this would be immensely appreciated. Thank you, God bless!

    Sounds like you have an oil leak. is there any oil marks above where the area around the air filter? if not then I would have to guess that the oil leak is internal to the engine and spitting into the air intake. NOTE: I am NOT a mechanic. but it sounds like a good guess..

  • @apathionking602

    @apathionking602

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@patzbit9562 I think your right about the leak possibly being internal. The only oil I can find seems to be coming into the air filter from some internal means. I'm no mechanic either but I definitely appreciate your input. Though I'm not sure what to do about an internal leak. Perhaps a bad gasket maybe. I'll have to look into taking the carburetor off and seeing where I can go from there. Thank you for responding, I greatly appreciate it.!

    Many people soak the air filters in oil in order to catch more dirt. So that's a good possibility why your filter was oily. Changing your spark plug to a iridium plug instead of what came stock with it is very helpful for those motors. Also never storing it for longer than 30 days with fuel in it unless you are running the can gas from hardware stores such as truefuel that can sit for a while and still be okay. Changing the oil often at the bare minimum once a year but some say 30 to 50 hours of runtime and you should change the oil.

    Need help- I used my Wen 2350 for 10 months and it refused to go into ECO mode one day. I took off the cover and found a small spring and a triangular silver piece at the bottom that had vibrated loose. As far as I can tell the ECO switch electrically opens or closes a switch which moves the silver piece and after looking for wear marks I determined which way it goes back on. The small spring hooks onto it somehow but I am not sure. I am also not sure why it came loose or if there was another parts to it. I need to see a pic or video of the inside ( with the opposite cover off) so I can see the part in place and working. Is there anyone that can help? I am living in my truck camper full time and it would be a big help to get it back up and running.

    My WEN 56203i recommends synthetic 5w-30 to cover the entire temp range, and at least 87 octane, and ethanol free is ideal, do not use gas with more than 10% ethanol, according to the manual.

    I use non-ethanol and Amsoil, mine starts acting up after a couple hours running a 21ft camper with only ac on, it’s central Florida so it’s hooooot. Ac is 13500btu and WEN 3800 is 50% power with wide open space around so not overheating, trips the internal breaker. The exhaust screen I cleaned with a torch

    Hi, I have the similar model, the handle in the middle is a bit flimsy. The handle warped together (cheaply made plastic )when I lift the generator from the ground! I don’t know if I got a faulty unit or Wen products are cheaply made! Could you give me feedback on that please, thanks you.

    I just bought the Wen 56203i and I couldn't get the spark plug out with the tool they provided. I had to ask a neighbor for help who had a better spark plug wrench. Also I was using the tool they provided wrong, I put the lever in the middle and tried using both hands on both sides. Apparently you get more leverage by putting the lever all to one side and cranking it that way.

    I just serviced our Wen generator (a 2350) and saw that, while the air filter element itself was not that dirty, the area behind it that feeds the carburetor (the area that is supposed to be super-clean) was all full of oil-soaked dust and dirt. We WERE using it in the desert - there was dust blowing around. I would have expected the air cleaner element to have been dirty, and it to have been clean behind it. Has anyone else experienced this?
