Welding Workshop & Weldors Supply & Steel Co. Sponsoring Mine Operator!

Ғылым және технология

Have you found yourself saying, "If I only knew how to weld." That may come up while your prospecting for gold, sampling mines, fabricating a mill, building sluice boxes, trailers, truck beds, cranes, or many of the other projects in life where the skill of welding is required. I've been going to Weldors Supply & Steel for over 7 years so they decided to sponsor our KZread channel! How cool is that!
If you're looking to expand your skill set and need to learn how to weld MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, Stick/SMAW and/or Oxy-Acetylene safety, Weldors Welding Workshop offers classes in the afternoon or evening. Hardrock mining got me into fabricating and welding. I've lost count on how many projects we've done. Those few photos are just a tip of the ice berg. We're excited to share the good news with everyone.

Congratulations on the sponsorship! I have never tried to weld, but from my experience, it is a skill, and in some cases a true talent, that is valuable to have. I'm going on 56 years old (ish) and am considering taking some classes just to learn the basics, you know for that "If I only knew how" situation. Not that I'll ever need it now, but hey, you never know! For one example, I remember helping out on my uncle's dairy farm during the summers as a teenager, and there were times we lost days, one time a week, of baling hay because of broken teeth and tines and fingers on the rakes and balers or problems with the hay wagons that could have been welded right on site or at the farm rather than taken in to the nearest welding shop and waiting on them. Another example was with broken stanchions and other equipment in the milking barn and pump house that could have been repaired on site quickly. Sorry, a very long-winded way of getting to say that I would love to take the welding classes there to support your sponsor, but unfortunately the drive from Kansas to California would not be possible with (or approved by) my current employer. Oh well. Anyways, sorry for rambling, congrats again on the new sponsor, keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to your next video! Thank you.

Keith, I appreciate your entire comment and the time it took to type it. Great examples. Yep, Kansas is a bit far. I know I'm younger than you by 12 years, but I have a friend in his 60s who still takes classes when he wants to learn something new. You're worth investing in. I warn you though, welding is fun and addictive. You'll enjoy it.

That is so cool Sid! I enjoy hearing different experiences. Mine started later in life. I was always drawing, designing, and animating growing up. Later on, I realized I want to make what I'm drawing. Glad I finally learned stick and MIG. I still have lots to learn.

Congratulations on the sponsorship! Do they include training in basic weld inspection and NDE, primarily visual, mag particle and liquid penetrant. Those are good disciplines to have knowledge of as a welder. Radiography and ultrasonic inspection is way beyond a small school like that. I mention those because a weldment is only as strong as it's worst weld.

We hope to earn you back one day. Just sharing our excitement getting sponsored to help fabricate a large clarifying tank that I need to make to help separate out the colloidal particles after adding a flocculant. I also need to fabricate and test hydrocyclones that we'll be using. Those are the videos I'm working on. Harry's working on processing ore and recovering gold.
