Hey "A" Man, as my southern friends say "thats pertnear perfect". I've been in construction over 30yrs, and I always look to see who does the job better than me, then try it that way (for any job). 1st rule to welding, "get comfortable". Hood down lights on.

For several years I mitered 8 and 12 inch pipe with 45s. Torch followed with grinder to make it look saw cut. I have pipe patterns that look like an eyeball. I'm sure you have seen them. The short side had to be offset about 3 eighths to get them to a true 45. I made copies of the patterns with artist mat board a heavy paper almost cardboard so I didn't damage the originals. Patterns are a lifesaver when facing hundreds or thousands of cuts.

By the way Aaron, I always hate it when that happens go to tack something together then the wire burns back into the tip. Such a hassle! It's to bad you don't always make your gates exactly the same length, height, and width. Because if you did then you could just build yourself a standardised pipe gate fixture and never have to fuss with levelling the pipe stands anymore. Especially if you put legs and feet on it to make it into a fixture table.

Never fails; the bloody wire pops out right after you let go of the piece and lift your lid lol. Try a more aggressive whip action with the flick of the wrist and more often then not the wire will unstick from the tip. Of course if you really gob one on, no flick of the wrist will save you lol
