Weld Repair on a Bent Motorcycle Frame and Straightening i picked up a $400 Honda XR100r dirt bike to rebuild on my Moto-Vated207 channel but soon realized after getting it back to the shop that it needed some metal welding and fabrication. The subframe was bent, the crossmember was broken, the exhaust was bent and the steering stops were broken. I used my welding and fabrication fixture table and clamps to fasten the motorcycle to the table as I jacked the bent subframe into alignment. I then test fit everything to verify it was in perfect alignment before welding.

Brandon, scissors jacks have their place in my shop. At work, I use them on our pressure washers when changing a wheel, but in my shop I use them for levelling things out, or as in your case, for applying pressure where needed. I once but a transmission jack using one, and, while it wasn't perfect, was most helpful on my 4runner.

Bryan Fry spot on. I was thinking Porta power or bottle jack and neither really seemed like it was the tool for the job. I use my scissor jack to service my small yard tractor lol.

Always remove headstock and bearings before welding on the stem. You didn't talk about welding around gasoline. This is a serious concern!

@Sean Signer Where was there any gasoline? It wasn't even on the bike and it also didn't have a carburator.
You'd never know that those little taps with a rubber hammer could do so much.

I should have explained it better. The jack was doing the bending. The hammer is used to relax the metal so it doesn't spring back. As your hitting it you can usually see it bend more which is how you know it's working. It sounds weird but it doesnt take much

@@BrandonLund I have a BmWK1200Rsport. But i like Scooters b/c keeps me out of trouble w/ cops. I scored a wrecked 2021 Yam Zuma 125 for $30 +$150 auction fees. Triple & front axle bolt bent, neck twisted & bent. If I had my MIG I'd straighten the frame. So much plastic bolts to the frame around the neck--to make it all match up I'd have to get the front sweep perfect. So today, ordered new frame~$500. Forks with triple=$220. Hope to finish @ $1500 total into a $3000 bike. $4500New THAT'S A BIG HOPE! Any ideas to make this cheaper? Ever done a flood bike? Final thought, there was like a triple clamp mark in both tubes. The mark was exactly at the bottom of the triple clamp--like the start of a kink. Thoughts? Do you check tube runout here because simply being in the triple clamp will egg shape the tops of the tubes doesnt it?

It can egg the tubes for sure. You would probably love my other channel Moto-Vated207. I just picked up a wrecked 2020 Yamaha MT-03 and rebuilt it for my wife. I did a series on it. Here it is if your interested. I pulled the front end on this too kzread.info/dash/bejne/gmlptMino5XWqrQ.html

I noticed that too but in real life it's straight up and down.
Your back wheel didnt alligned perfectly maybe your swingarm is mis-alligned .

@Rey Tiosejo it must be the camera angle because it doesn't look like that in person. I actually plumbed the front and rear wheels then checked the engine cradle for level and it all checked out.
