Welcome to STATMed Learning

Hello, my name is Ryan Orwig, and this is the big picture “welcome” video for STATMed Learning.
I created STATMed Learning when I realized no one was comprehensively teaching medical students and physicians* HOW to effectively study, maximize their time, and show what they know on board exams.
At least, not in a way that made sense to me. I wanted our program to be based on the science of reading and learning and taught in a manner that is contextualized to medical school and medical board exams; it had to take into account weaknesses in the profiles of many learners at this advanced level, including those who feel like they just cannot manage the firehose of medical education, to those with ADHD (or “ADD”) or those with a reading or learning issues, to those just looking for better ways to study or show what they know on classroom tests or board exams like the USMLE, COMLEX, shelf exams, NAVLE, or specialty boards like Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Peds, etc.
I’m a reading and learning specialist who has exclusively worked with frustrated medical students (etc.*) since 2005, and I founded STATMed in 2012.
STATMed is just me and my colleague David, so if you work with us, you are only getting to work with the best. We’re not tutors, and we do not deal in tips. We teach end-to-end systems, using custom-built methods that combine operationalized evidence-based learning strategies with real-world pragmatic tools that are designed to put our clients in charge of their learning for the rest of their careers.
We offer three main platforms:
1) The STATMed Study Skills Class: For 1st and 2nd year classroom-based didactic learning, from
lecture-based to flipped classrooms to problem-based models.
2) The STATMed Boards Workshop: One-on-one tear-down and rebuild for boards prep learners
who identify as “bad test-takers”
3) The STATMed Reboot Camp: Also for boards prep, but this combines the full boards workshop
along with a robust set of study skills so you can attack the boards in two all-new ways
* When we say "medical student" or "physician," this also includes other health science professionals, like veterinarians, PAs, Pharm Ds, et cetera. Thank you!
