We are so blessed to have you and your experience in bees & herbs. I am 67 years old and have decided that when I grow up I want to be you! 😀 I have just started keeping bees (2nd year), and have started delving into herbs. May God bless you and your family.
Beekeeping and dividing the colony and checking the progress and each movement of bees till the colony start honey production is the best experience, i had raised a bee colony from mere not more than 100 bees ,with one comb of around 5cm in diameter and that colony went upto 100k bees with full colony weight of around 100 lbs.....damn tat colony was the strongest and most honey producing colony
You are so honest and informative, always a pleasure to learn from you.
How in the world do you have older kids, I thought you were like 30. That clean living is really paying off you look amazing!!
Excellent video. I love the bees and the channel. Thank you for sharing 🙏
És a minha apicultor a preferida. A tua luz ilumina-me. Eu te amo muito ❤
We live in SE WA State where it got down to 9 below zero this January. This is low for us. Typically our lowest winter temp will be in the single digits above zero. We lost our hives. Since then we were able to meet a gentleman through our church who has 10 hives and didn't lose a single one. In fact, he has thermometers in his hives and he said that the lowest temp he recorded was 47 degrees during that cold spell. He has studied some of the characteristics of a natural, wild hive... kind of the way God intended before we 'helped' them out. In the wild they often settle into the hollow of a tree - one opening. No 'flow-thru ventilation'. In the wild, they have one opening. So here is what he did; He used 2" thick insulation around the hive, having only one opening. Use one hive body with no supers so that they won't have to heat such a large area. Since they're able to heat their hive more easily, they eat far less, (22 - 25 lbs of honey per hive for the winter). By eating far less, they create far less condensation, so there is no need for allowing the wind to pass through. He says it's that simple. Get rid of the second opening and insulate well. One hive body - no supers. That's it! He didn't lose a single hive... can't wait for winter to try it out. Thank you for all you do for us, Kaylee. God bless, Miles

They do not try to heat the whole hive, only the cluster is kept above critical temperature.

@@SirCamsmorethanalot I'm sorry, I didn't word that very well. The heat I refer to is not from a heater. It's simply the heat generated from the bee's activity and then retained by the insulation and the fact that there is no flow-thru ventilation. He didn't use any heaters. Have a wonderful day!
*This is great. It is something special being able to see the bees and visit them easily. I love the new set up fresh and clean. Always enjoy your content. Thank you!*

@@TheHoneystead I can't wait to see it. I must warn you about the cameras lol I added a camera in my apiary and as you said, it's like a baby monitor LOL I keep looking at it.
Watching while filling new half gallon jars of dehydrated herbs. You’re so good to your bees! 🐝
I never thought to move them some time in winter while they’re hibernating. Great idea. Thank You
I have eight hives and they all made it through winter, I thought for sure after the blizzard we just had that some or all would die. I love beekeeping, going on ten years this April.
Your bees are going to LOVE their new place. :)
Can’t wait to see how they do! We just did a hive inspection…
I really love your content.
The new apiary looks great. Looks like you have plenty of room to grow your colonies too. Thanks for sharing 🐝✌️💜🌼🍯

What a nice bee yard you have! Love it! I too am an herbalist and beekeeper (only 2 hives right now....well maybe 3 🙂) and it's been so much fun coming up with creations using herbs, beeswax, propolis, honey, pollen and whatever else I find! I have been learning about and using herbs since I was a teenager--just turned 70--unbelievable (arrrgh), and have just the past 5 years been putting it all together with bees. What fun! I wish you and your family all the best and many delights in this journey. God bless.
A beekeeper has no goal, only path :) Every day we learn something new, moving forward.
Thanks for your thoughtful explanation!
Keep us up to date on the orientation flights and if they stay there please. I have a colony that i want to move on another side of my tree line with my others. Great content keep it up 👍
Hello Honeystead indeed ❤! Thank you for doing and putting in the work with the beautiful bees😊! Thank you for a wonderful video ❤😊!!! Perfect time for the bees to start flying and looking for flowers!! Looking forward to the bees enjoying the pollen and nectar from the flowers ❤!!😊😊
Oh I love it!! 🥰 🐝
I just got 2 hive boxes sets and bee nucs coming in May! I'm so excited to start bee keeping!
This is so interesting! It really makes me want bees. It's pretty hard here in the cold dark North. But I saw hives that are insulated and my friend is learning about this. She had a grizzly attack and lost a whole hive, but managed to save one. I wish I'd have started sooner.
This is my third year beekeeping and first year of overwintering a colony
Thank you..... love it❤

Now that’s what Iam talking about . Yeah

Never complained about being cold in a bee suit. Usually on brink of heat stroke.
Love your videos. Miss your mom!! Please tell her hello ❤
Nice new place for the honeybee hives

Beautiful beekeper beautiful apiary
I dont keep bees, but they keep me. I plant flowers for them and they polenate my veggies. If you dont like bees do not come to my house. The air is often filled with bees.
We just did our first hive inspections this past weekend! I LOVE that it's beekeeping season again!! Is dark honey in spring usually from red maple? Any ideas? We have a lot of dead nettle too and pears blooming. Southwestern KY

Ok just thought I would ask. I’ve been looking for a wild lettuce tincture and finally found a store in Winchester that sells them but they are route of stock at the moment and sell out very fast. Do you know of any brands that you would recommend to buy from like Amazon?
May be too late now but if you had put an empty bee box back in the area you moved them from, you would have thousands of bees going there then becoming lost. Doesn't matter if you block or screen them in for days, most of the field bees would end up back there and you'll lose many bees. They need to be moved out of their old range or not at all. Decades long beekeeper speaking with many moves to pollinate or to better areas.
