    0:43 The packaging is how it should be done. Saves waste. Stops tons more plastic going into landfills, oceans etc and killing the whole planet. If anything, I'd like to see string come with paper packaging. It's not like polyester is vulnerable to the air or anything.

    I string my own and have a reel of this string. Honestly, it's not my favorite because I like more feedback than it gives, but it's not completely dead. Right now I have it in a Head Extreme Pro (last year's version) at 46lbs, which seems to work well for that racquet. I originally tried it at 40lbs but it was too powerful and also felt too muted. This string changes its feel pretty quickly as it seems to stretch and get too powerful after only a few hitting sessions, and I do pre-stretch it when stringing. I've also used it in the Babolot Pure Aero at about 45lbs with the same results. My string of choice for the Babolat is the Luxilon Smart at 45lbs, and the Volkl Cyclone (16 or 17 gauge, black) at 48lbs in the Head Extreme.

    Thank you for chiming in on your experience. I just got another set of it and would like to give it another try without expectations. What's also cool is I just got Smart and Cyclone and have never tried either of those, so glad to hear you are enjoying those at lower tension. Hope you're getting some good hitting in!

    Just came across your channel. love the editing, music, and the views of various scenery. I'm not sure if you have tried a similar string in Volkl vSquare. It plays fairly soft/comfortable and tons of ball bite. I have paired it up with a smooth poly cross. Tier One Ghostwire has been a favorite of mine. Notching is very minimal and the snap back is amazing. I just got a set of ultra cable and will try with ghost wire as well. Thanks again. clicking that sub button

    This is an awesome production! Great job! I’m a total ultra cable junky..just bought a reel of it. I love this stuff but I think I strung too high in one racquet (volkl vsense v1 pro at 45 lbs). That’s my preferred racquet but the other racquet (volkl Organix 8 315g) at 43 gets noticeably more bite. I’ll just add that I think these strings feel soft for me...we at least they feel arm friendly. Love this string!!! P.S. I don’t string but my stringer says he keeps any extra for his weed whacker...makes you wonder😆

    Thanks man! I just strung up a customer racket with some and was reminded how sharp and chunky of a string this is. There's some softness to it for sure but just in the hand and stringing it up I was like wow this is in a different category than others - it just maintains its square shape like no other. Anyway, someone just sent a set up my way to try again so can't wait to try with a fresh new look on it!

    Realizing this review is from a couple years ago but wondering if you still play with the string and still as high on it. I’ve been on it for a couple of months in a spin frame. Wilson ultra XP 100s. Found it too loose initially at 50 lbs but seems to be working well at 55. Any thoughts here? Thanks!

  • @6064jkr
    @6064jkr3 жыл бұрын

    Great review, nice change from the boring and pointless reviews that many others do! This is presently my favourite string, but I hybrid it with a soft cross. The crosses break before the Ultra Cable goes off, so about 10-12 hours hitting. Far from feeling stiff, strung at 48lbs with a soft cross like Sensation Control, it feels soft, but the feedback and control are unmatched for me. I find all polys generally perform better in a hybrid with a soft cross. Full bed polys can feel too dead for me.

  • @EvokeTennis

    @EvokeTennis

    3 жыл бұрын

    I was going to say I would think the sensation would get torn up but you’re right if it last 10-12 hours then that’s probably what a full bed would last anyway before it died, so that’s a great idea!

    This string is so sharp you can shave with it in the mornings, It shreds the felt off the tennis balls, I strung mine at 51 in a 18x20 Prince TXT 100p. After 2 hours off play i have shoulder pain but its a fun string. I prefer RPM Blast and Yonex PTP.

    Finally got chance to test drive UC and I'll just say you don't need to revisit it again. Its all spin, no power, no comfort, and the sweet was too large to a fault. I found myself swinging out of my shoes only to have the ball make it to the service line which was driving me nuts. Anyway, ended up cutting it out after the second session when I started feeling some pain in my elbow. I have an extra pack if you want to try it again, its on the house! Just another vote for you trying Black Cyclone 18g.

    It's odd that you mention this string as being really stiff and not arm friendly but tennis warehouse mentions this string in one of their vlogs for their favorite soft copoly's. I'm wondering if it was the racquet you had it in or the low tension you used? typically for soft copoly's I bump up the tension since they tend to drop to fast. wondering if it softened up a bit after a few sessions?

  • @EvokeTennis

    @EvokeTennis

    4 жыл бұрын

    When I tried Ultra Cable I didn't look up any of the stiffness specs on it, only knew that it was one of the highest spin potentials. I did just look on TW's stiffness tool and saw it was lower than I expected, a 175. At the time it seemed stiff compared to my normal setup, and felt stiff and chunky while stringing up. It definitely softened up, but I think I need to give it another go after reading your comment. Going beyond the stiffness number is the material composition and how it feels, each one being a little different.

  • @jugheadfla

    @jugheadfla

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@EvokeTennis Unfortunately, everyone seems to be out of the packs so have to wait till mid July to try it. Material definitely has something to do with it. I compared this string to another soft poly I've been using lately, Tourna Big Hitter Black 7, and both have the same exact stiffness, same high tension loss %, nearly the same energy return %, but spin potential for ultra cable is doubled that of BHB7???? Definitely has my attention.

    Red code might be stiffer, or at least I think of Red Code as similar to RPM Blast, no? Quadrotwist is definitely on the soft side (also the black is softer than the white, which is weird as the typical is, the darker the stiffer). Good evening, I realize that your channel is new, with few subscribers and few views and has everything to grow, a suggestion I have for you is to do a review of Head Hawk Touch, since Tennis Warehouse hasn't done it yet, and many players want the head hawk touch review, just read the comments from the head hawk review and the head hawk rough review, i think that would be a good opportunity for you, it would be an exclusive channel from you the head hawk touch review, to that can attract more subscribers and views, just a tip, I don't know if I'm right, I really like your channel, and congratulations on the reviews.

    Hey Rodrigo that's a great pro-tip from you on the Head Hawk touch, you can see even with the few subscribers I have you guys are incredibly helpful to guide this channel in the right direction. Since it's a new channel it really takes dozens and dozens of good videos just to start catching on so people can actually find it. Currently the videos are taking me around 20-25 hours to produce in total so I am trying to find ways to still get an accurate review of the string but not spend too long on the play testing part - because there are so many good ones to try next! Anyway, really do appreciate the feedback and support. I know myself I probably wouldn't watch a channel with few views and under 1000 subscribers - so it's people like you that make it all worth it. If you want, send an email to info@vacationtennisco.com so you can get your giveaway stuff!

    Quick summary on Head Hawk Touch. Nice feel and precision, decent spin and very under powered. String 1-2 kg less than others. Tried it a few times but at that price tag you can go for Alu Rough

    How's the tension maintenance vs hyper?

  • @EvokeTennis

    @EvokeTennis

    I thought this held it together for longer than hyper 17, but felt I had more control with hyper in general. I never quite wrapped my head around this string and it was a bit of a mystery - a fun experience overall that I would try again. I would pick hyper g if given the chose between these two right now.

    Basically trying out everything I've ever hit with or played - just used Ultra Cable aswell, i strung at 45lbs, in a flexible racquet and it was hurting haha Spin G is a nice string i've used it quite a few times, when it breaks in, i think it's generally solid all around, been meaning to use it again because my understanding of strings / feel improved alot since, been about 2 years

    That's cool you are playing around with stuff. Yeah Spin G looks pretty aggressive just from the package but haven't heard too much about it - which is kinda cool going into some of these strings blind and just getting a feel for what they are vs what they are marketed as. Like I said Ultra Cable is a BIG string not some little toy haha
