I'm so proud of Simon. Talking about Mr Blobby so fearlessly. He's really getting over his biggest fear in life, one video at a time.

What a legend. 🤣🤣
The irony is that if ghosts were actually real and a place was genuinely, provably haunted, it'd be an incredibly popular destination for tourists, scientists and researchers.

Lol ghosts.
I don't know if they're a thing outside of the US, but abandoned shopping malls are also both creepy, and interesting time capsules of bygone retail culture. There used to be a 'deadmalls' website that had pictures of many of them. One of the most famous was the Dixieland mall just outside of Chicago, Illinois, since it was used for the famous shopping mall/car chase scene from the original Blues Brothers movie shortly after it closed.
Count me among those that really dig the abandoned stuff, really dug this one
As a person living near New Orleans - you say "Jazzland" and people just laugh sarcastically. It was actually rather popular at first - if nothing else, because finally there was a half decent theme park within reasonable driving distance for several colleges including the one in my town. But after Katrina, you'd have thought the place held a curse from the get-go, so many people became very nasty about it, "Oh I always knew that place was no good, it was a stupid idea" and so on. Sour grapes, perhaps, or just another outlet for the overall bitter aftertaste that we all had to deal with in the wake of the hurricane. (And the disgusting mismanagement of the recovery effort, around here folks STILL say FEMA stands for "fix everything, my ass")

I'm going to be that person and point out that at 10:15, the text says "Hurrine Katrina" instead of "Hurricane Katrina."
0:45 - Chapter 1 - Lake shawnee amusement park (United states) 2:50 - Chapter 2 - Pripyat amusement park (Ukraine) 4:20 - Chapter 3 - Dadipark (Belgium) 5:30 - Mid roll ads 6:50 - Chapter 4 - Gulliver's kingdom (Japan) 9:30 - Chapter 5 - Six flags, new orleans (United states) 11:25 - Chapter 6 - Cringley bottom (England)
I don't know man "the happiest place on earth" might be trademarked like "let's get ready to rumble".

Simon really has to hold back on his more serious channels when the subject of ghosts appears! All I can hear him saying is “BECAUSE GHOSTS AREN’T REAL”!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video! But I did kind of miss "het Land van Ooit".. which used to be a big hit in the Netherlands with a TV show, books and merchandise (Kloontje het Reuzenkind!) until the owners got bankrupted. The theme park was build around the concept of a land filled with knights, giants and a baron. The one rule was that children are in charge, not their parents. The sight was left to nature's forces up until very recently so you could find knights submerged, overgrown giants etc. They now plan to build houses there.
I remember Blobby World back in the day. Some of the office staff where I worked thought it would be fun idea to to go there for the day rather than have our usual night of drunken debauchery, I mean Christmas party. Thankfully I missed the whole hideous misguided affair, after I almost froze to death in a Transit van. I was heading to Glasgow travelling from Wick and became trapped in the van for a couple of nights after a severe snow storm north of Fort William. So missed out on it, damn, that was a close one. For Simons benefit, Fort William, Glasgow and Wick are all in Scotland. 🤣😂

Trust me if missing blobby land means freezing in a transit, I'll take it.
Disney's River Country Park in Orlando always freaks me out since it closed the year after I went in 2000 and there was never any official explanation why they closed it.
@ashb7846
Жыл бұрын
It closed because it was difficult to keep the filtered river water free of bacteria, and because Disney opened two larger water parks in the late 90’s that could hold way more guests. With the combination of deaths, expenses, and expansion over the years it just wasn’t worth keeping such a low capacity location open.
There used to be a western theme park near where I live. It had a train, shoot outs, the whole nine. All that's left now is the parking lot, sort of.
You might have added the former VEB Kulturpark Berlin in Germany, which had been abandoned after the reunion of East and West Germany. It looks like a little brother of the Pripjat Luna Park, only that it is accessible, and quite rusty...
Bottom Air just absolutely killed me for a couple of minutes! Crinkley Bottom might just be the most British thing ever. I say this as a Brit.
I've only been able to visit one abandoned theme park - Spreepark in Berlin. Abandoned when the owners were discovered to be smuggling drugs into the country via the rides themselves. The owners would send 'broken' rides to Columbia under the basis that it was the only place they could do the repairs, and hiding drugs inside the 'fixed' rides. The park closed down a long time ago, but when I was in Berlin in 2015 the family of the owners were giving guided tours of the theme park to try and make some money back. You were able to actually climb onto some part of the more stable rides and I have several photos of me and some friends I made there in carriages or on the rollercoaster tracks.
A couple of years ago I was driving through western PA and I found an abandoned water park. I have never been able to find it again. I have tried numerous times. It bothers me to this day.

The death of the child on the swings at Lake Shawnee occurred when a delivery truck backed into the path of the operating swing ride. Several were injured. Because of her size she had fatal head trauma.

Thank you for elaborating. I was about ready to yell at Fact Boy to back up and explain that one. That's not something you just casually mention then move on.
I was just thinking about these sort of things the past few days and how cool it would be to enter one at night.
Oh, I miss those old rides. The Twirl n Hurl, the Chew n' Spew, and the Scarf n' Barf. Good times!
Six flags new orleans wasnt just left to rot. It was used as several movie sets including the last two Jurassic park movies.....
Thank you Simon and crew, there are few things better than seeing a new video from you and especially one involving my love of amusement parks, awesome. Only wish you had mentioned Geauga Lake and the disaster that was Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and Cedar Fair demolishing it.
My god I was not expecting Mr Blobby. That's an OGBB meme right there.
That's the most beautiful pronunciation of Lake Pontchartrain I've ever heard 🙃
As an American I'm glad I grew up with the acid trip minus the acid that was the Teletubbies rather than whatever the hell Mr. Blobby is lol
Love this presentation! 👍👍 Oooh spooky! 🥶🥶 Creepy theme park? Ahh so that's why that a Final destination film was so scary with a Rollarcoaster accident - foreshadowed 😳😏
Mr. Blobby scared me ... need to go and change my armor !!!
Chernobyl is probably Simon’s most mentioned event. His oldest companion. His loyalest friend. His deepest lover?

Head over to the Brain Blaze channel and I think the two guys he has locked up in the basement chain to the radiator might disagree with you a little bit. Of course I’m not sure if a prisoner‘s opinion that somebody is the best employer ever and their best friend in the world is something you can truly take at face value
Bedrangled! Love it!
Loudoun Castle in Scotland was creepy enough when it was open. Now it’s been closed for a decade, even more so.

I watch all your channels and enjoy your commentary. I would like to see a piece on " Black Sunday" Bondi Beach 1938. A true story of heroism.

GHOSTS AREN'T REAL AM I RIGHT PETER?
Holy shit my home state of west Virginia was first on list. They do ghost tours now.
A theme park near me used to have a tied down Gulliver as well, the original owners planned to make the attractions inside of it (including a cinema inside his head) but they went bankrupt and the new owners kept the outer shell and turned it into a playground-- but it was so dark inside that it would be filled with kids crying from getting lost while climbing. One of the shoes was turned into a ballpit that smelled like piss, childhood memories. The thing was left standing for like 30-40 years before they tore it down to make room for more rides. Oh and it was tied down to a hill so everyone driving out of the area at night time would be greeted by a giant tied down man staring at them from a forest. His head was sold on ebay.
Keep up the awesome videos Fact Boi. Love the content!
5:00 Are the bones of the severed arm still there? Did they survive the demolition?
We have two here in Wichita: Joyland (RIP) and Wild West World (circa 2007 for a few months).
"Fifty thousand people used to live here... now it's a ghost town."
There are of course also other examples. There was also Camelot theme park in England. Here in Cape Town, South Africa, there was also one - Ratanga Junction. It seems a pity that Camelot was abandoned and closed down, as it was to do with England's most well known legend, or one of them, being King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. It is a pity about Ratanga Junction, as it was a nice theme park. It also closed down quite recently, in 2018.
I used to go to Jazzland every day when I was young. A summer pass was only like $80, and paid for itself after like 3 visits. And hats off to your pronunciation of Pontchartrain... You almost got it right, but most youtubers do far worse!
Lake Shawnee Amusement Park was featured in an episode of the paranormal investigation television show, "The Dead Files," which I had recently watched. That place really is creepy frightening. As per recommendation of the paranormal research team, the current owners have taken measures to appease the disturbed spirits on the land, which, as reported, has had success.
Was expecting Spreepark in Berlin to make an appearance.
Fucking hell. This man sells out to anything with an advert. Bringing us some facts, one advert at a time.
I can't imagine a more cursed themepark than one based around Mr. Blobby...
The park I miss most is Dogpatch USA. Smaller than the ones in the vid but popular in the 80s.
The animated text transitions are low key awesome. Props to the graphics guy.
Thank you
I bet that Simon went to visit Mr. Blobby's Theme Park when he was little. Oh the memories.
Ayo this is gonna be a great video
I still have a grand opening poster from jazzland from my childhood.
By the time Katrina made land fall it was a category four not five. Details, man. Details!
Ahh Noel's House Party, oh the pain, the pain......
If someone was smart. They would fix up that Radioactive Ferris Wheel at Pripyat amusement park and give rides on it. Call it the Radiation Ring. They could sell t-shirts saying I've ridden the Radiation Ring... Have You???.
Suggestion: New Zealand's tallest building, the Skytower in Auckland.
Ah yes. Animals of Farthing woods. More death and horror than Wartership Down.
So Mr. Blobby killed the animals of Farthing Wood?
The ferris wheel is one of the coolest set pieces in the Prypiat mission for cod 4
Of course, Mr. Blobby had to be on the list, cos we know how much Simon hates him... :P
It seems like they *should* put something near that forest to cheer people up.
Prehistoric Forest in Irish Hills Michigan. Wish there was enough footage to add to this video. Maybe next time.
It beats standing in line
What about amusement parks with longevity? Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen has been around for some time (might even hold the world record)
Blobby toilet.....the mental images that pop up from the pairing of those words....
I live in the US and remember Mr. Blobby.
There was an abandoned theme park that had a mummified shark. If I remember it was somewhere in Australia.

But Pripyat's is still a theme park. It's just that the theme is dark and the rides are radioactive!

Heh heh yeah Mr Blobby was my Saturday evenings 🤣
Hit by a truck on the swings... That's definitely a curse
"Now before we get started on the rest of the video-" Okay, I'm gonna go pee, this way Simon gets his watch time and I don't have to watch an ad for a thing I JUST paid for.
Action Park - now that’s an amusement park to do a video on.
Geauga lake was missing from this list
six flag's new water park...hurricane katrina
I visited the Shawnee Amusement park in the spring of 2018. As 'haunted' locations go it is pretty mundane. The broken, rusting rides covered in vines and brush do have an eerie quality, as would almost anything in that state. The story about the little girl was related to us as she jumped off the swing at the end of her ride and was hit by a truck driving past the ride. Given how close the rides are to one another I can't imagine why there was a truck moving through there but.... The more interesting part of the area for my friend and myself was the tale of the Shawnee and the original settlers to the property. We were able to see a long presentation about the history. Definitely disturbing.
you could say nature added it's own water park to that six flags.
Nothing like Chernobyl theme park.

Idea for Megaprojects: The Internet
@gabbyn978
2 жыл бұрын
Not the worst idea. The history would have to begin with those telephone line modems reaching across the USA, from mainframe to mainframe, then the specific concept of the ARPAnet that was supposed to stay operating under any circumstances, and how it got revolutionized by the invention of HTML - there are a lot of stories to be told.
