Just got in a rabbit hole about light weight setup lastnight and searched your wrx setup Able to install a deka battery? Light and very cost effective too. 🤙🏽

Nice! I seriously almost bit the bullet on the PC680 kit but I had plans on utilizing the battery space. You know how it went...lol.

Living in Alaska, I can say these vehicles do not like cold, it's mostly plastic so it cracks and breaks. More importantly I need a battery blanket, for you southerners it's basically an electric blanket you plug in as well as your block heater.

Inquisitor Squish the 900 series MeLe Mount and a Braille B3121 would handle some cold just fine.

Love my 900 series mount on my 15 wrx! Went from the 600 series to the 900 series. Mitch is awesome, high five for mitch!

Regardless of mounting system shedding pounds be it battery weight or other is a good thing but to be able to combine weight loss with enhanced engine bay clearance is well sweet 👍👌👏

Not that I know much about batteries but the cold cranking amps between the odyssey PC925(330) and Optima Red Top(720) are pretty different and living in the northeast I know that’s a big concern when it’s cold obv. Like is this difference that big of a difference for a Subaru? Any chance a box is being designed for the optima? Also my FMIC sits on my stock battery it sucks so love this product!

It's funny how this video showed up on my feed because I tried to start my car yesternight and noticed the battery died. Picked up a replacement from Autozone.

I was wondering do the newer models 15+ have firewall issues still? flex and spot weld breaking.

Great video, but I’m wondering should you reduce the size of your battery? And If it has roughly the same specs, does size matter? From what I know, your battery may die a lot quicker than it should, when replaced with a smaller; comparable battery.

Braveheart CHASE OR AMEX? That is not the case entirely. Most small battery issues that arise in our professional experience has been due to end user error. We have a great FAQ on small battery use but also have our 900 series mount kits out that allow 6 new, medium size batteries. These kits are as close to OE spec batteries but still allow you to lose a few lbs from the nose.

Will this trip any codes when changing them out ?

Hey man. I have a question. I have a 2016 WRX and I’m looking to upgrade intercooler on E60. I want to keep a budget and do the GS TMIC. But a lot of people are telling me it’s a waste of money compared to the ETS FMIC. What are your thoughts?

I would get a front mount.

Have you ever had any issues with the pc680? I have aftermarket gauges and I am going to be 500+ and I'm not sure how well this better would work for me but my parts guy recommended it

No issues at all. Aftermarket gauges are not going to effect it at all. They don't draw a lot of power.

Laylah Cox with those power levels, and assuming you’re build is a Subaru, we would recommend the new 900 series mount. A lot more battery options that can handle the added stress of multiple fuel pumps, E85, etc. If any questions shoot us a message.

Would you still have to remove the battery for changing spark plugs with this mod or is there enough clearance?

You won't have to remove it anymore, but having no battery will make it easier.

Is there any cons to going with a smaller battery? Will it die out faster or need to be recharged more often?

I don't recommend it if you live in extreme cold temperatures. If you tend to forget to leave your lights on for hours at a time, I wouldn't recommend it.

Christopher Mendoza def check out the 900 series kits. They are as close to or exceed OE specs and still allow a few lbs lost. And clear most charge pipe kits if you get the mod bug.

Any disadvantages to running a smaller battery?

Not for extreme cold climates, air suspensions or high powered sound systems.

Worst mod, lol, this is the mod everyone regrets, your car will hate it in the winter, it is not worth it my guy.

hey chancho at standard operating temp maybe. Batteries are very sensitive to temperature and it’s energy density is heavily reliant on its weight as well. These small batteries could “claim” higher power, but it’s depletion due it being smaller will run though more cycles of energizing and depleting. Meaning it’s life span is reduced dramatically since batteries don’t like being drained so much and re-energized. This is one of the worst mods by far in a vehicle. I know numerous of people that always go back to the original due to this issue.

hey chancho I Checked the cold cranking amps on that small battery. It’s 170, that’s abismal. A typical cheap battery from auto zone has at least 600 CCA

Easily fixed with the 900 series, which is why I upgraded from the 600. Zero issues now

CaSTizzy G that is not entirely true. With regard to Odyssey and CCA, 170 is their rating for cranking the car 30 seconds straight at 0 degrees F. Under normal temps it cranks at 520. We run the 680 in one of our current shop cars and have since we opened two years ago. Year round. In winter and in summer. To the track or local auto cross. Most times small batteries become an issue based on end user error. That has been our professional experience.
