Weight Distribution Hitch Installation - Weigh Safe True Tow
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Introducing the first ever weight distribution hitch that can truly distribute your load with ease. With our continued efforts in revolutionizing the towing industry and offering our customers a Towing Peace of Mind, we now offer a truly complete weight distribution system called “TRUE TOW”. Our Weigh Safe True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch includes “True Tow Technology” and comes manufactured with the following features:
A BUILT-IN SCALE to measure both tongue weight to ensure 10-15% of GTW and distributed tongue weight to truly give you a distributed towing system.
A LIVE ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM built into the head assembly with an internal pivot point that eliminates the need to remove the head assembly for re-adjustment resulting in a much easier and quicker installation, anytime adjustment, not to mention it saves a significant amount of time.
EASY HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT using our dual pin key lock assembly providing safety from theft and ease with 1” hole increments to provide more accurate height adjustment compared to competitors with 1.75” hole increments.
An EXTENDED SLEEK DESIGN that generally gives you the ability to lower your tailgate or open your liftgate without the trailer tongue/jack interfering.
DTW (Distributed Tongue Weight) Tool application for smartphones (android and IOS) or available on our website to set up the highly accurate distributed system by outputting a DTW that the Weigh Safe gauge on the hitch will read when distributed correctly.
It TRULY distributes the tongue weight of the trailer between the back axle of the towing vehicle, and the axle(s) of the trailer and returns the lost weight off the front axle to provide the customer a safer and smoother ride.
Provides ANTI-SWAY friction areas that help to reduce sway caused by wind or passing vehicles.
Instead of one hitch for one specific tow vehicle and trailer, it’s now ONE HITCH FOR ALL tow vehicles and trailers. The True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch can be easily interchanged between different tow vehicles and trailers so you can put trailer brackets on as many trailers as you want!

We love our Weigh Safe hitch. We purchased it recently based on the wonderful information in your KZread videos. We had recently purchased a newer much heavier travel trailer and were looking for a better hitch. We feel very comfortable driving with our large toy hauler travel trailer even in windy conditions. We recently stopped by your Lindon, Utah location and received some assistance from Liz and Eric. Liz was very helpful in seeing that we got what we needed. Eric serviced our hitch and answered a bunch of questions. He even recommended a new hitch pin which we were able purchase on the spot with Liz's help. A great customer service experience!
Best weight distribution hitch I’ve ever used, yes you do have to extend the chains but... I love that I can lower my tailgate without hitting trailer jack. App is easy to use once you enter all measurements. I also purchased the steel slider with a 2” ball to use on my smaller trailers, again another great option and easy to switch ball sizes.

How did you extend your chains? Im about to do this to My trailer, im missing like a foot in order to have some droop and be able to cross.
So before setup, one needs to load the trailer (camper) like it's being used and go weigh it or just use GVWR?
Waited 20 days to receive mine to end up missing the tow ball and brackets. Customer service stopped answering when I asked to have these missing items expedited. Unfortunate their customer service is lacking. Sure hope I never have any issues down the road with the product.
What’s the max drop height for this WDH?
Does the ball need to be greased?
bellissimo, secondo me dovreste esportarlo e omologarlo anche in tutta europa!!!!
Can you back up, or need to jack knife trailer if in a tight spot?

You can backup as long as it is not a significant grade change or sharp turn!
If the pin weight after adjusting the spring arms is heavier than your vehicle allows should you not use this system? My truck says I can tow 10000 but have a max tongue weight of 1000

I wouldnt think so, Since it will always be 2-3 times higher when the bars and distribution weight is calculated

Yes. It’s not true hitch weight once adjusted but rather disturbed weight you are now reading. More like how much tongue weight from original reading and what has been moved into forward suspension added together roughly.
@puntabachata

The adjusted weight is like weighing yourself on a bathroom scale and then reaching down to pull the scale up. It does not increase your weight on the ground.

@@puntabachata that's a great mental picture you painted there
In the case of a toy hauler. We have one similar to the one shown. We often haul without the garage loaded. In our case, that do we do? Have 2 weights for the calculator and 2 settings? I assume this will take a couple visits to the truck stop for the cat scale to get actual trailer weights for both scenarios.
so when i unhitch my airstream how can i secure it so its not stolen. do i take the whole hitch out of receiver or whats the best way.

I use a hitch stabilizer, which is basically a u-bolt that goes around the receiver and the draw bar. It makes for a way quieter tow and has the added benefit of basically bolting the draw bar to your vehicle. Of course it is still vulnerable to theft, but it would take a way more determined thief.
Insulation video?
3:17 you're measuring from the top of the tongue / frame, not the top of the coupler.
Is there going to be an option for this to be adopted to old weigh safe hitch?

Our True Tow Weight Distribution Hitch will not be compatible with any components of our current drop hitches. However, our True Tow draw bar is compatible with the Steel Weigh Safe slider mount.

@@weighsafe what is the link to that? I just ordered the steel 2 inch shank to a 8inch drop what can be added to this hitch?
I'm not understanding the step at 1:22. Wouldn't having the ball 1 to 2 inches higher put the camper out of level?
@weighsafe

Great Question! The distance will depend on what the tongue weight of the trailer is and what kind of suspension is on the tow vehicle. Setting the tow ball higher than the trailer coupler will help account for the amount of sag the vehicle typically sees once loaded. You always want your trailer to be level with the ground when towing!

Beware - This does not work on 8" frame
The manual says 1/8" for every 100 pounds of hitch weight. This video says 1"-2". EXACTLY WHICH ONE IS IT????? Accurate info would help a lot!!!
@weighsafe

Thanks for reaching out! In the video he explains that "Generally, the tow ball should be 1-2" above the coupler". In the Owner's Manual it provides a good rule of thumb is to set the tow ball 1/8" higher for every 100lbs of tongue weight. You'll typically see users towing with at least 800lbs of tongue weight with a weight distribution hitch, which would calculate to at least 1" if you follow that 'rule-of-thumb'. So basically, the 1-2" mentioned in the video is a common recommendation based on the 1/8" 'rule-of-thumb'. We apologize for any confusion and hope this clears it up for you!
Use a pintle and never worry about anything
you should really cross your safety chains (6:25). It is much safer if something ever went wrong with the hitch

Those are the sketchiest safety chains I've seen lately... twisted up, cobbled together, and the hook safety clasp isn't closed. Cool and impressive product, but those chains are scary.

What do you plan on hauling on the trailer?
Your “C Channel” Bracket is installed upside down. It should be installed with the square holes to the front, not the back. This is so the nuts are towards the back of the trailer.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HITCH!! Bought this for my Jayco 330 RSTS and there is not enough adjustment between the spring arms and the spring arm platforms to allow adequate contact to supply enough friction to help with the trailer sway. I can only contact approximately 20% of the available surface area which is just not enough. Contacted Weigh-Safe and was basically just blown off. Their customer service was no help at all and didn’t even try to find a solution. I am buying a different brand hitch because this one is too dangerous for my trailer.

Why are your bars that bent?
@rjwhite5438
2 жыл бұрын
@@Thirty-OughtSick Their design does not allow for the 9 inches of clearance on my trailer they call for in their installation manual between the top of the trailer coupler and the bottom of the spring arm platform, I have only about 7 inches on my camper which does not allow the spring arms to sit horizontal to the spring arm platform. This significantly cuts down on the amount of friction to reduce the sway control. My biggest frustration is the total lack of care or willingness to help provide a solution from their customer support department.
