I have the original WeighSafe hitch and like you said, it’s a work of art. Idk of any other hitch that I would take the time to clean and polish, but with this one I do! I rented a mini ex last year and the guys at the rental shop all gathered around to watch the scale as we were placing the mini on the trailer. They were blown away. I have and love the Blue Ox Sway Pro for our TT. I am curious about how the two hitches will compare all said and done. Thanks for a great video!

Can't wait for all of your reviews. I almost got this hitch but it was 2x mine. I have a Husky Centerline TS and I just came back on a 500 mile trip. If you review this one, guys tighten up the bolts that keeps sway in check (Those pivot bolts). I brought it all the 150 lbs and man that made a massive difference. I don't tow with a heavy 2500, so you guys might not notice it as much. But I have a 7500 lbs trailer pulled by a 2016 Expedition and it was way better. Also I replaced my Trailer King RST tires with Goodyear Endurance tires for the ride back and it was WAY worth it! Ride and tracks much better!

I found this hitch performance is really good. To me, the biggest disadvantage is how friggin heavy the weighsafe hitch is. For that reason, I built a little dolly. I have it the same height as the truck receiver. The hitch on the dolly slides right in or out of the receiver, and never needs to be lifted.

Thanks for the review. I have one of these. I have towed my ORV 27trx about 6000 miles with it. I agree about the pins. Need to keep several spares as the originals are getting pretty bent. A bigger issue is I have gone through two scales. For some reason they keep breaking. Dealer fixed it the first time by replacing the head unit. Second time I had to go through Weigh Safe. They sent me a rebuild kit that I have not installed yet. Scales have a life time warranty, but kind of a pain that I have to fix 4 month old expensive wdh myself.

The steel you are calling "thin" and would like to be thicker does not pull the trailer. It only supports the anti-sway bars...and is reinforced by having a dual design on the other side to share the load with. Also, it pivots on the bolt...so the forces it experiences are not laterally, but just sheer tension based on the bolt. Just a thought. I am sure it is more than enough.

I really liked this video Cory! That is an awesome hitch!! While I can understand your cons I wonder what the failure rate of the hitch is. If it doesn't have problems then the engineering is sufficient. I love just about everything about this hitch! The look, the app, the ease of adjustment, the built in scale, but not the price. My $220 Husky Centerline TS is a fraction of the cost and does well. Still, I like that Weigh Safe!! Love this series!! Keep up the good vids!

I have a few miles on mine. Making sure the trunion bar pivot bolts are torqued to spec will help keep your distributed weight setting. There seems to be some break in at the pivots initially that impacts the distribution. Agree on the pins, I sourced some extras because "two is one and one is none". Heavy as hell, looks beautiful but tows like a dream. 5 minute setup that's perfect every time.

Have you had any problems? I used a weigh safe once and it blew the seal for the gauge after one drive. It was also very hard to get the correct amount of WD when loaded to the max. Had to raise the brackets up, and then the adjustment bolt stripped. I think Weigh Safe has made a few adjustments since then in their app, and maybe on their hitch, that may reduce these issues. However they do have videos on their website on how to fix all these issues, so maybe a lot of people are having problems?

It is unfortunate that one of the “Key” things and attributes that most “Americans” consider is PRICE (for better or worst, we are all “Consumer’s” after all - and in a Market Driven Society, “Price” is King!) So one of the things I would consider, paying a High price for is if what I’m “Carrying” is WORTH the Higher Price. And if I’m hauling a $40,000 vehicle 🚗 (which mine is) then I believe it is 100% WORTH IT to shell out a $1,000 dollars 💵, for a product (Weigh Safe) like this 👍 GOOD JOB 👏 on the Reviews BTW (the Overall [Hitch Battle 2021] is even BETTER (video/review))😁👍👍👍👍👍

The swing pen type spring as seen on the tractor lynch pins fail far more often than clip pins or Hillman pins. Their only good attribute is the thickness of the retainer if the springs don't fail. I have seen multiple lynch pin springs fail on my tractor implements and prefer the Hillman or better yet large clip pins now as a result. The only time clip pins are a concern is when I am driving a the tractor in large grass than can snag...but that can happen to all three types of pins. Heavy hitch chose wisely IMO.

I’ve got one coming. Actually the head and trunnion arms came yesterday and the shank and hardware should be here tomorrow. The reason I went this way is I have 2 tow vehicles depending on if I’m using my 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. The 3/4 is lifted and the 1/2 ton just has a leveling kit. It’ll be nice being able to use one head and shank and just easily adjust it versus needing two shanks and heads

Great video, I have the True Tow Weigh Safe and it performs flawlessly, like you said. I will have to disagree with your first con though. Every time I hook up my travel trailer I make sure the center bolt on the hitch is loosened off or you will have a harder time hooking up the distribution bars on the L brackets, also before I disconnect I loosen it off so it easier to disengage the bars. I don't think this hitch was designed to set it and forget it because your trailer weight will fluctuate and changing that in the App changes your numbers. I love this hitch.

Good afternoon! New subscriber! I originally came to your channel with your Godzilla videos. And then my associates over at Finding Our Someday talked about your channel. I'm hooked (no pun intended based on the subject of this video! I hope your final comparison video comes out soon! I have an Outdoors RV 22FQS that is built, but just waiting on a stove hood to be finished. My dealer in Poncha Springs CO carries the R3 and R6 recurve, as well as the Fastway Equalizer e2 WDH. So, I'm in the market to consider other hitches. My criteria is 1) unwavered sway control 2) practical for off road national forest and BLM roads out west. Some nice things would be 1) can back up easily in non standard woods areas and 2) not getting covered in grease every time I set it up. 3) I'd also add that it would be cool to be able to open my F350 7.3l Crew cab, long box tail gate. It has the FX4 package also. Safe travels!

The spring tension on the Hillman will spring out before the clip pin design slip off...and the sheer strength of the clip pin is going to be higher than the spring tension on the Hillman. Yes, the Hillman will have a higher shear strength, but the weakest link of all 4...(sheer or Hilman, sheer of clip pin, spring of clip pin, and spring of Hillman) suggests to be the weakest one would be the spring of the Hillman. Now if you could ENSURE the Hillman would always be in the drop DOWN position, then it would be strong...but if the spring opens and then it is in the upside down position, it will literally fall out freely. As a result, I would like a larger clip pin most likely.

I don't see how always needing adjustment on hook up is a con. My assumption would be that as your trailer hitch weight changes, so needs the setting. That seems to be the whole premise of the hitch. Also another "pro" is the ability to open the tail gate.

So the tube wall thickness doesn’t at all need to be thicker and the hitch already weighs a lot. I think the adjustment bolt is adjusted while your hooked up. That makes me think it’s got a spring or something like that inside for its scale to work. So it makes sense that when you remove the load and the hitch you’ll have to make some re-adjusting. Plus any weights in your trailer, exact placement of rig on the ground and how much fuel in your truck and fluids in your trailer will necessitate re-adjustment.The small pins, ehhh, no biggie. Don’t lose them or buy extras. There is no reason at all to make them bigger but if the hitch was yours you could always re/drill the, and get bigger pins.

In all Weigh Safe hitch assessments I have watched, no one mentions that the hitch is slightly longer than other hitches. When I installed mine, I had to lengthen the safety chains from my Rockwood 2516s otherwise I could not connect the chain hooks to my vehicle. Not a big issue but I did not expect that issue. On the plus side, my tailgate fully opens without interference from my power jack. With my previous Equalizer hitch, my tailgate came in contact with the power jack housing and I could not fully open it while connected to my trailer.

For example: #1 - put the shank into the receiver, #2 - slide the scale onto the shank to the correct height, #3 - put the bars in. If I can do it that way - I'm thinking I would be Ok. Maybe 30-40 pounds max for each piece ??

Do not turn off the vehicle stability control/trailer sway feature of the truck. Why turn off a safety feature? You want all the help you can get when towing. There is nothing about the truck stability systems that will take away from what a weight distribution/sway control hitch does. In fact, they will work together to try and save you when you need it. This is speaking from years of engineering experience, personal towing experience, and times when truck stability and trailer sway features have saved me. Maybe something you read said that airbags or auto-level features aren't needed with weight distribution systems. This can be true. Suspension leveling devices aren't usually needed or aren't as helpful when using weight distribution. And, if you use some type of leveling system it will affect the amount of weight distribution you are getting from your hitch. So, if you do use leveling with a weight distribution hitch, make sure to recheck how much weight distribution you are getting from the hitch. Some good videos by Equalizer hitch and Fastway Trailer to see this - (kzread.info/dash/bejne/inaO15VyoLSed8o.html) and (kzread.info/dash/bejne/n55m0dN6mc_ao84.html).

Just curious if you noticed a variation in weight shown on scale depending on angle of truck / trailer from front to back. For instance I installed at church parking lot to have a good level place. Drove home and backed uphill into driveway and parked by the house which has truck and camper both pointed downhill , truck more so than camper. And hitch reads 600-700 less than it did in level parking lot at church after setting it all up …….. hopefully my description is clear enuff you can understand what I meant. Just wondered if you noticed this during your use or if something is off …….

I was surprised to get the middle weight WeighSafe in its delivery box… just the weight of the product itself is heavy! The box weighed at least 70lbs… maybe 100. To me this was worrying because my midsize SUV only allows max 700lbs tongue weight so every 100 lbs in just tow components is VALUABLE in equating the RV I can tow! I wouldn’t take an over 600lb tongue weight rv considering the component totals. If you’re using a half-ton or HD truck feel free to ignore all of this. But if you’re using a midsize truck (Tacoma, Canyon, Ranger, etc), SUV (grand Cherokee, Durango, GLE, X5) or similar, be noted that she’s heavy just on her own 😅❤

I know they’ve been backordered so 20 days is understandable since they’re a small business vs a huge conglomerate. No tow ball is NOT cool but I’ll bet they take care of you quickly.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HITCH!! Purchased for my Jayco 330 RSTS and have significant trailer sway with this hitch because it doesn’t have enough adjustment for my spring arms to ride horizontal to the spring arm platform and only makes contact with about 20% of the surface area. I contacted Weigh-Safe and they were no help at all. Their customer service was minimal at best and don’t stand behind their product. I guess I’ll go back to an Equalizer hitch.

Interesting… I am in a 37ft, 10,000lb trailer right now and the True Tow handles it with ease. Like it’s on rails.

Wish mine did. My dry weight is 10,287 lbs, and I doubt I am over 11,000 loaded ( I travel light). Tongue weight is 1,500 lbs. My problem is there is not enough adjustability to get the 9 inches between the top of the coupler and the spring arm platform as is shown in the installation manual. This prevents my spring arms from contacting the entire surface of the spring arm platform, riding on only about 20% of the available surface. I’m losing about 80% of my friction area. I explained my problem to them as well as sent pictures documenting the problem. They need to at the very least inform customers to check and see if they will be able to get these measurements on their trailer before ordering. I’m now stuck with a $1,000 paper weight. I really want to support American made products, but Weigh-Safe did not even try to find a resolution or offer a refund since if doesn’t properly fit my trailer. Their customer support was severely lacking.

Disappointing product: The adjustable gauge gimmick might be nice IF it worked. Mine arrived with a gauge that was NOT accurate. Without a load, the gauge was reading 450 lbs. The cheap gauge makes me question the whole system. - Customer service was nice & friendly and sent me replacement parts. - Not happy with the fact that I spent over $1k+ and ended up with a 2-hour repair project right out of the box. They didn't want to send me a new hitch, just offered parts for me to fix it. - If were buying a new hitch again I would buy the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution hitch. - Weigh Safe's higher price does NOT mean higher quality. - Very disappointed🙁

Unfortunate. That said I’ve now tested 8 hitches and this one performs better than all of them not named ProPride. If it were me I’d fix it and ride instead of dumping another $900 on the Equalizer… but that’s just me.

@@WanderingWeekends Realy enjoyed your videos. Well done! As for my situation, I am fixing the gauge and keeping the hitch which. I am sharing my experience for the benefit of others. As for performance (without the gauge working correctly) it has been a good towing experience. I like the extra length that allows my tailgate to drop (2020 F250). Negatives: pin clips could be improved and the paint finish scratches easily, and the hitch is heavier than most.

Built in scale? ...I'll depend on our Sherline scale. The WD is done by square bars that don't flex, no flex equals a stiff lash-up. In my experience, not a good thing. PPP for me. Disclaimer....only towing for 35 yrs.

I’m not as enthusiastic about this video and some others. I think if you’re going to review a hitch and talk about it and take the time to single out components of the hitch that you should have a video of it performing in various conditions. A good example is with the Hensley 3P hitch. There are numerous videos of it in action.

Simply put I don’t have the time to strap a camera to my tailgate every time I find myself in a different driving condition. Folks enjoy watching the 3p (or Hensley) do it’s thing because of it’s unique movement. Watching this hitch work would be like watching paint dry. My viewers are smart and generally don’t need fluff in their videos. Keep in mind I’m not selling you this hitch, I’m simply sharing my experience. I look forward to your video regarding the matter. 🍻

It is most definitely money well spent. I just used your discount code and purchased the Weigh Safe hitch, and thank you very much for getting that to all of us. Also, I had a question about one of their products, so I called. The very nice lady that answered the phone, also answered my question. So I believe they will have great customer service!!
