    I use the OG Weigh Safe 15k model with a 29' TT that is scaled at 7100lbs loaded with a 950lb tongue. I always wondered if that hitch was too big for my set up. This one with the 12k bars would be better matched for my set up but I can't bring myself to spend $850 on a new hitch when the one I have is perfectly fine and less than 2 years old. I wish they had this when they brought out the old one.

    I've been towing with an Equal-I-zer brand hitch for almost 20 years. It has been absolutely rock solid in every circumstance and situation I could throw at it. But unless I'm religious about greasing the hitch head area, it gets quite noisy. This WeighSafe hitch appears to control sway in a very similar fashion. Does it stay quiet?

    According to the pictures it looks as if the new hitch bokts onto the shank as opposed to the original installing with the pins to where it can be removed in two parts. This might negate any weight savings when removing the hitch and could even make it heavier to remove. Just thinking out loud.

  • @JasonGroom

    @JasonGroom

    Pro pride is great, but for a company that claims to be the safest method of towing, and that it should be on every trailer, they sure do like to charge for it. The design is old, the R&D is paid for, and it is immoral to hold safety ransom to those who cannot afford it. A large amount of the safety advancements in the automotive industry have been openly shared patents for the better good. Now I did consider them, even though they are not an ethical company, their product is good. I called and asked them if they could help me locate someone to install it once it arrived. I have a bad back and bad knees, and they openly mocked my inability to do it, on two separate occasions with two separate representatives. So not only are they morally objectionable in their business practices, they feel it is ok to shame a person unable to properly install their product, a product they say that they are not responsible for if it is not properly installed

    I am a total newbie with tow behind hitches. Have always had a 5th wheel. Tow vehicle is a 2022 F250 HD 7.3 gas pulling a small 3900lb travel trailer. So how do I find my drop length and shaft size for ordering?

  • @WanderingWeekends

    @WanderingWeekends

    Жыл бұрын

    Shaft size will depend on your trucks hitch. Generally 2 inch, 2.5 inch, or 3 inch. Most 1/2 tons have a 2 inch. Most 3/4 ton a 2.5 and 1 tons can have a 3. Drop depends on your trailer coupling height and your hitch height. The trailer should ride very close to level. Determine what drop you need from there.

    You want 11 inches of clearance. The hitch is 3 inches longer than the drop indicates, so the 4 is 7, the 6 is 9 and the 8 is 11. So if you have 22 inches to the top of your hitch receiver, you can do an 8 inch drop, which gives you up down adjustments without offering a new drop if you change campers and require a lower head.

  • @JasonGroom
    @JasonGroom Жыл бұрын

    This is a great hitch, but why would they not use the pin design for the head. If it is middle weight it is targeting weekend warriors in the camper pulling area. They are so much more likely to be DIY, but you put this head on that requires 400 pounds of tongue, when they are less likely to have the tools to do that as a weekend camper hauler. If the pin design is good enough for the heavy weight, it should be great for the middle weight as well.
