I live in Sydney studying, but I am here on a student visa and my Australian boyfriend is stuck in WA. I Have not seen my family for almost 2 years now and my partner for 10 months.

Have you thought about getting the DFAT flight from Canada? My friend just caught one of the last ones in Vancouver heading into to Darwin and she was told there’s possibly two more coming this year! I’ve researched this like a crazy person so if you need any help girl I’m always here xx

Next time your in aus you should open an account with ING because they don’t charge international fees. Such a lifesaver. Or westpac do travel cards so you don’t get charged either and it can hold multiple currencies. Hope you make it home soon, it’s getting really bloody hot already !

Sorry to hear about Dubai 😢 Such a struggle.. Hopefully with Australia opening our borders in November it makes it a little bit easier for you and Alec. Such a confusing scenario being in Aus too.. I'm in VIC and at this rate its going to be easier to see my family in the UK than my friends that are a 2 hour drive away in the same state, or my family in SA that are a 1 hour flight away 😂 not a lot of logic here hahaha

Instead of using your card and having to pay fees, have you considered transferring money to Steve then getting cash from him or using his card then paying him back?

Tip, get onto ING! No international transaction fees, it’s the best! And it has one of the highest interests rates. The book, Barefoot investor explains it more in depth.

I did have an account with ING but then I was going to move to the US & started closing my accounts

for real, why don't you just get a property in Mexico and keep chillin until its all over with? Or at least get a long term rental. I know there are visa limitations, but as far as I understand, you can fly out to a nearby country and re-enter for another x amount of days into Mexico!

What I think really sucks is from my recollection you were going to go home and your flights got cancelled so that is why your stay was extended in the US. It wasn't like you were trying to break the law or take advantage. I seem to remember your flights getting cancelled NOT BY YOU!!!!! You were trying to leave. We moved back to the US from France just a few months before the pandemic hit THANK GOD!!!! I loved france while we lived there but glad we were not stuck over there during all this. Praying you all get a good resolution soon.

Sweden vaccinates everyone, even just tourists. I know it’s getting colder and you probably don’t have Sweden on your list to visit haha but even just for the possibility of vaccine, it’s a good visit for a while. You can also say hi to my family for me haha🇸🇪🥺🧡

what was your understanding upon leaving aus? did they make it clear that it would be this difficult to return prior to you applying for a travel exemption? i'm sorry you are having such difficulties...can't imagine being away from my family and literally not being able to return to them. i appreciate australia's concern but hope their government is able to see a clearer picture of the positive vs negative impact of these policies and work everything out. i am very thankful to not have the pressure of keeping an entire nation safe and healthy on my back! wishing you guys safe and easy travels in the next few months!!

The understanding was that my visa was to be accepted to the US as well as Australia to be a little more open to travel with the vaccine roll out etc. Australia hasn't stayed on track at all and had such a slow roll out of vaccines than the rest of the world. I understood it was going to be hard to get back but not impossible. Still always looking for new options though

Not sure if it's helpful but I have a Brazilian friend that didn't manage to get vaccinated in Portugal (where I am) and he did in London. As a foreigner. Might be worth you take a look into it. Good luck, sending lots of good vibes!

Here in the US, we can vaccinate people who aren't citizens/residents. I have vaccinated people from Mexico/the Philippines etc who don't have a local US ID. Not sure if they have a system like that in Mexico.

No one was arguing, it was a joke. Also not every couple decides to mix everything when they get married

Trying not to sound rude, but it was quite naive to except anything around travel and returning to Australia during the pandemic. If you join travel exemption groups and discussions, there are still people that have been trying to get back into Australia since the start of the pandemic, almost 2 years at this point. I completely understand wanting to be optimistic, but considering you were lucky enough to get back into Australia at the start of the pandemic, you maybe shouldn’t have left Australia until you had your fiancé visa, or international travel had opened up. Just my personal opinion, I have been apart from my partner in the US for 10 months now but we both knew we’d be waiting for international travel to open up before we’d be seeing each other again, and it’s been super easy coping with the distance knowing from the start that we’d be looking at maybe 1 year + before seeing each other again.

Maybe that is the case for you babe, and I congratulate you for that but I was struggling doing long distance and when I was given the opportunity to leave for work/personal reasons with the exemption I took it. I am not complaining about the situation I am in, I am just sharing with everyone my current situation. Like I have said 100000 x over. I am grateful to be doing what I am doing and be able to safely do that from anywhere in the world until I can go home and return to my family. Till then I am waiting like every other Australian.

I guess I just see a lot of people who have had to spend a lot more time apart, while also still having a lot less certainty around being reunited. And these people seem to display a lot more understanding of the circumstances the world is in, being that we’re experiencing a global pandemic. Obviously we only see a snippet of your understanding and emotions on the matter in these videos, I just think it is a bit out of touch to have left in all the complaining/criticising maybe? You just seem quite frustrated at a government that has literally saved thousands of lives with its strict travel restrictions. This is your channel obviously and I really am trying to be constructive so my bad that it’s probably coming across quite blunt.

I guess what I have to say is if you constantly compare one person's experience and situation to another's, you will literally go through life thinking everything isn't fair and the world owes you or others something. I agree that we should prioritise getting people home who haven't had the ability to do so earlier, which is exactly what the government is doing right now with the DFAT flights. I am not frustrated with the current situation, what I am frustrated with is every plan I make gets cancelled or destroyed and so because of this I have a right to be frustrated with that just like every other person who has had to deal with this for the past 2 years. I could easily fake being perfect in my emotions and not be as real as I have been to please people like you, but I prefer to show people (who are interested, who watch these vlogs) the shit that is actually going on in my life and how that makes me feel etc. As I go through more of these experiences and mature even more and more in my lifetime then maybe my reactions will be different and even then I will still authentically put out the version of ME that is real and not staged for KZread. ❤

It’s unfortunate when people almost act as if another person experience isn’t as valid or as if they know the ins and outs of that experience. The comparisons really don’t help especially within these online interactions… individuals tend to feel entitled enough to harshly judge or be on their high horse constantly berating random strangers online. You are a human beyond this screen and ppl need to really remember that.
