Can you do a video on ㅃ,ㅉ,ㄸ,ㄲ,ㅆ vs ㅂ,ㅈ,ㄷ,ㄱ,ㅅ? I cannot, for the life of me, hear or pronounce the difference.

+Angela Celo I think pronounciation of ㅃㅉㄸㄲㅆ naturally come out when ㄱㄷㅂㅅㅈ are next to one of themlike in 국수 ㅅis spelled strongly, like 국쑤 not 국 수우~ it's quite different from ㅅ sound in 사랑, as it is spelled softly

Really late here, but I think of it like ㅃ is "b", ㅂ is a mix of "b" & "p", and ㅍ is "p". Same for the others; ㅉ is j, ㅈ is j+ch, and ㅊ is ch. ㄲ is g, ㄱ is g+k and ㅋ is k. ㄸ is d, ㄷ is d+t, and ㅌ is t. But ㅅ is defferent. ㅅ is more of a s-h sound, not like shhh but the actual h sound. so 자 is like s-ha. Its like you take a break between saying the ㅅ and the ㅏ. Whereas ㅆ is just a long, sharp sounding s. Plus, ㅅ can also make an "sh" as in she sound, but ㅆ can't.

w-what? university student? i thought you were like 16!
I've been trying to teach myself Korean but I'm finding pronunciation really difficult- I can seem to pronounce the sounds correctly but when I read words I tend to get them muddled up and I sound really awkward? Did you have the same issue at first or am I just really bad haha ???

I've been learning for a while now I find myself stopping... It's not that I don't want to learn (I totally do!!!) but I just don't know what to do anymore.. I find it hard to learn new Vocab without practicing in some way and it doesn't give me motivation enough if I don't practice with someone because I have no idea wether I'm doing it right or wrong... What should I do???

I forgot this one... Margo how can I differentiate the pronunciation between ㅅ and ㅆ I don't notice the difference thank you so much ♥
Have you ever thought about being an exchange student in Korea? Is that possible for you? If not, what other countries?
For the diphthong "의" I often hear it as a 'ye' sound. Like in '너의개', I hear it pronounced as 'neo ye gae'. Is that another way of pronouncing the diphthong? Thanks!
한국에 언제 와요?? 기다리고있어요~
gorgeous...thanks for this video...you're so pretty! :)
Margo love this series so much!! I have been in contact with you by Facebook and twitter and I have a pronunciation question... in "eyes nose lips" by teyang I'm pretty sure that the lyrics says 너ㅢ 눈 so it has to be pronounce like "no eui nun" but I keep hearing "no IE nun" and in other songs is the same... what's going on here? hahaha I hope you answer my question love you so much loves from Chile, adiós ♥

Eh? I'm confused rn I'm not getting something..are they like Verbs, adverbs, adjectives etc? Pleaseee answer back even though this is old. Also, do you REALLY have to worry about them when speaking or more of writing? Thank you!
웨는 주로 외래어에서 많이 사용되는데 '이게 웬 일이래' 에서처럼 좀 의외의 상황에서 쓰는 '웬'이 있어요!
Thanks for the video :) This video is pretty much interesting to me. Koreans called diphthongs "이중모음" which means "double vowels." I think this is because we combine two vowels there. In Korean, there are much Chinese (pronunciation is totally different but the meaning is almost the same). 이중모음 stands 二重 (double) 母音(vowel). When I pronounce diphthongs such as ㅚ, ㅙ, and ㅞ, I felt exactly the same with you. Although I am Korean, I cannot difference of their pronunciation. For 웨, we also use this word when we said 웬일이야? (What's happening to you? or what is this all about?)
고마워요
You help me a lot
Can you talk about ㅅ and ㅆ? I've noticed that they have the same pronunciation sometimes. And I've noticed that sometimes they are pronounced as an 's' but other times like 'sh'. Do you know anything about that? 😊

When paired with a "Y" sounding vowel (ㅛㅕㅑㅠ ect.) it becomes more of a sh sound so 샤 is a sha sound instead of a sya. The only other one is 시 and it's also shi and not syi! I hope you can understand, and hopefully someone else can correct me too^^ Goodluck!

How to differentiate the vocal 에 &애?

@3sooho3

+sarah iman Think like this. In English, there are 'bad' and 'bed'. Can you tell the difference between these sounds? It is exactly same with the difference between 'ㅐ' and 'ㅔ'. So, we can distinguish 배드 and 베드. But, in practice, I barely can tell these two are clearly distinguishable in Korean. There is always a context in a sentence, so I can tell what is what though. In another way to explain is something like... structural approach. the sound of 'ㅐ' is... like 'ㅏ' plus 'ㅣ' sound. So, if you try to pronounce the two vowels at the same time, it sounds like a little bit higher tone. the sound of 'ㅔ' is 'ㅓ' plus 'l' sound. So, if you try to make the pronounce the two vowels at once by combining them quickly enough, it sounds like a little lower tone. I hope this helps.
@3sooho3

+sarah iman Ah! another example is... 'bat' and 'bet' respectively 'ㅐ' and 'ㅔ'.

the ite is part of the word 있다 which is the verb "to have/to be there", and the myon is 면 which means "if" so if you put them together its 있다면 which means "if there is"
