+Angela Celo I think pronounciation of ㅃㅉㄸㄲㅆ naturally come out when ㄱㄷㅂㅅㅈ are next to one of themlike in 국수 ㅅis spelled strongly, like 국쑤 not 국 수우~ it's quite different from ㅅ sound in 사랑, as it is spelled softly

Really late here, but I think of it like ㅃ is "b", ㅂ is a mix of "b" & "p", and ㅍ is "p". Same for the others; ㅉ is j, ㅈ is j+ch, and ㅊ is ch. ㄲ is g, ㄱ is g+k and ㅋ is k. ㄸ is d, ㄷ is d+t, and ㅌ is t. But ㅅ is defferent. ㅅ is more of a s-h sound, not like shhh but the actual h sound. so 자 is like s-ha. Its like you take a break between saying the ㅅ and the ㅏ. Whereas ㅆ is just a long, sharp sounding s. Plus, ㅅ can also make an "sh" as in she sound, but ㅆ can't.

Thanks for the video :) This video is pretty much interesting to me. Koreans called diphthongs "이중모음" which means "double vowels." I think this is because we combine two vowels there. In Korean, there are much Chinese (pronunciation is totally different but the meaning is almost the same). 이중모음 stands 二重 (double) 母音(vowel). When I pronounce diphthongs such as ㅚ, ㅙ, and ㅞ, I felt exactly the same with you. Although I am Korean, I cannot difference of their pronunciation. For 웨, we also use this word when we said 웬일이야? (What's happening to you? or what is this all about?)

When paired with a "Y" sounding vowel (ㅛㅕㅑㅠ ect.) it becomes more of a sh sound so 샤 is a sha sound instead of a sya. The only other one is 시 and it's also shi and not syi! I hope you can understand, and hopefully someone else can correct me too^^ Goodluck!

+sarah iman Think like this. In English, there are 'bad' and 'bed'. Can you tell the difference between these sounds? It is exactly same with the difference between 'ㅐ' and 'ㅔ'. So, we can distinguish 배드 and 베드. But, in practice, I barely can tell these two are clearly distinguishable in Korean. There is always a context in a sentence, so I can tell what is what though. In another way to explain is something like... structural approach. the sound of 'ㅐ' is... like 'ㅏ' plus 'ㅣ' sound. So, if you try to pronounce the two vowels at the same time, it sounds like a little bit higher tone. the sound of 'ㅔ' is 'ㅓ' plus 'l' sound. So, if you try to make the pronounce the two vowels at once by combining them quickly enough, it sounds like a little lower tone. I hope this helps.

  • @3sooho3
