I took a canoe trip down there as well. Very beautiful. It was an amazing trip.

During April 2014 went canoeing down Weeki Wachee river. Not wise!! The river is very narrow and even more narrow due to fallen trees in the river creating obstacles. During the first half of the river trip, the current was moving us too fast. We flipped over in the area where there was hardly any room to pass where there was a tree sticking out of the water and another tree laying across the river. Went canoeing down Weeki Wachee river about 8 years ago and didn't have the problems we did this year. The water was beautiful and so was the scenery. Overall, we enjoyed the trip but will not go down that river again. Also, there were too many sharp turns we had to make due to so much zig-zagging. Will be looking into going down other rivers that are wider and try out kayaking instead of canoeing; no matter which one as long as it is wider and more stable to prevent tipping over. Oh yeah, we saw a manatee there as well. As there are listings for White Water Rafting with the name of the rivers with their current levels, I wonder if there could be something done similar to that for rivers in the area. If there was a way to grade this river, I would say this is for the advanced level due to all the sharp turns, obstructions in the river and for being so narrow.

Some places went down to about 25-30 feet. It was amazing!
