Well, actually it's perfectly possible to solo a raid dungeon that just came out. Developers have a nasty habit of overlooking glitches and other funny stuff that makes what should be extremely hard challenges into a piece of cake. Then comes the patch and the dungeon actually becomes hard to get through.

First half of Season 1 I assume? Because then I stopped watching. I personally like overpowered main characters, and I like the romance with Asuna(?), but what happend in around episode 15 and it becoming clearer and clearer that it is a harem killed it for me.

if you remember from the anime, in the first month a lot of the players collapsed in game and disappeared. They never said it directly but they alluded to the reasons you mentioned. I remember Asuna bringing this point to Kirito.

If the characters were more interesting, if it had a better writer, if the game world was more developed and interesting, and if there was an ACTUALLY good villain instead of a dipshit scientist who's like "I forgot why I did this' I could have been something good. Watch Log Horizon if you want a better "people trapped in video game" anime. Or like.....ANY other anime of that caliber that's come out in the past 2 years.

The first 3 episodes were great, and given you got a whole world with 100 levels to explore plus the real world to reflect on everyone who is trapped in there... there is no fucking reason not to stretch that tone and feel of the series during several seasons, why the fuck didn't they? Who wanted fairys and an FPS? And why so many almost rape scenes, the series could have been great WHAT THE FUCK?

Here's how Sword Art Online could've been good: Make the story arc that the show is NAMED AFTER take more than one season (they could've been trapped in there for WAY more that just one season, not skip and entire year in the story) Give Kirito some character, make it seem like he can't decide whether up stay in the game or get out Remove 2 or 3 of the people that fall in love with him (the 1st one is fine and so is Asuna) Make the last season of the show about Elfhiem to wrap it all up (without the incest, shower scene, rape by tentacle monster scene, but keep in the final rape scene to make the villain seem like the creep he is) Make it so that Asuna actually looks like she had been malnourished and had not done anything for a year ( like they did with Kirito) Give more insight to the game mechanics of SAO (like I said, make he show more about the game in the title) Only make Gale Gun Online a side series, not a main plot (along with the adventures in Elfhiem) and change the fan service with female Kirito I like how SAO didn't end on the 100th floor, they could've kept in the twist, just needed some better execution Kirito and Asuna's daughter/ Cardinal Code thing needed more of a complex character arc, like maybe she was actually put in there because the game's creator had a daughter that died in real life, and this was supposed to be her If anyone has anything else to add or change w/ this list pls tell me

I love SAO to death, but Log Horizon was also so good because of the way it basically showed off the formation of a makeshift government and technological advancements.

This anime had more (plot) holes in it than you will find on all porn websites combined

I love SAO, but I'm totally fine that other people hate it. Every anime has is weak points and that is fine. What is not fine is people who make fun of other people for watching a show. I mean, does something really make you want to judge someone just for what they watch? One show? Maybe they like every other anime that everyone else likes, but just because they like SAO, everyone freaks out and despises them immediately. For me, I'm fine with it. You hate SAO, that's completely fine. Go for it, just don't make fun of me or other people for it. It's not fair and just stupid.

It looks pretty. There. There is one good thing about the show.

In my opinion this is probably one of the best shows I've personally ever seen but that's what i think

I love the first 14 episodes of SAO, they're some of my faveourite anime episodes all together. The entirety of the rest of SAO can go drink a glass of molten steel. Honestly, I feel like I love the first part so much simply because of the escapism. Nothing more, nothing less. Imagine freeing yourself from the shackles of this fucked up, boring world to live in a virtual reality where you earn your living by slaughtering monsters, leveling up and clearing raid dungeons. All the while picking up mega waifu material like Asuna. I'd trade everything in a heartbeat to live in such a reality, deadly VR device or not.

No human being has that much KLEIN sight....

There are people on earth that try to argue that this is a good anime. Please kill me.

I didn't mind the GGO arc since they brought in a new main character who actually had depth and a character arc. Then the person who goes from a girl with PTSD using the game as a form of therapy to overcome her personal demons gets thrown into the harem, not to have a significant role again. That's the biggest slap in the face the series could give.

if you were to make an anime, how do you give someone character? what would you do?

Well, I know most people hate this anime, about 99%, but you know, I am the 1%. That may sound stupid, but, let me give you a run-down of why I like this anime. First, Kazuto(Kirito, for the 19% of you who just clicked onto this video because it's a Weegee video) is like he is because of his troubled past. Before that, I want to say, spoilers. Kazuto is a 14 year old boy who met his "little sister" at a young, young age. As he grew up, he learned that his sister is not a sibling, but his cousin. Soon, he rejects his training in swordsmanship and his grandfather wails on him. His sister agrees to work as hard as both of them, Kazuto starts playing computer games to help him, and he gets a Nerve-Gear to play SAO. This drives the solo characteristic in him. Then, the "plotholes", as you call them. Well, the many different quests he goes on are just that. Sidequests. Note, once he strays from his sidequests, he gets right back to clearing floors. Every episode, he gets to higher floors.

As for the Nerve-Gear, while the creator said he had some issues with it, I can back him up a bit. As the anime clearly states, the Nerve-Gear is a technology that's comparable to microwaves. If you die in the game, the gear sends intense heat throughout your head to fry your brain, simply by using the microwave-like programming in it. If you wanted to make a video about this sort of stuff, Weegee, at least pay some attention to what the people are saying when these things come up. 1 more thing. The reason people hate beta-testers is because all these people are in a life-death situation, the beta-testers know secrets that many of the other people don't, and that they have a leg-up in survival. So, what I'm trying to sum up, is that SAO is definitely not as bad as others may think. Give it a chance, and join the 1%. Besides, that 19% and possibly more, maybe 39%, probably never even gave it a chance. Just try it. I mean, I finished SAO in less than 24 hours, looking forward to SAO II.

While I don't think SAO is as bad as Weegee made it out to be, And I genuinely enjoyed the majority of it when I watched it, I still think it's pretty bad at times. It has some pretty glaring plot holes. (that aren't related to pizza, like who cares, Weegee you even came up with a freezable way that he could have ordered it, but still made it out like it's some important aspect. Low hanging fruit, that isn't even that good.) For example, When Kirito hacked the game to save Yui, why didn't he also enable the log-out feature? He made a game compile an entire enormous sentient AI into a crystal gem, in like 5 seconds, with no knowledge of the game's coding, but didn't do the comparably simple task of switching the no, to a yes for the menu's logout function. If the first season had been more about just showing people dealing with the fact that they are trapped. They know that they are probably going to die. They have to figure out how to deal with losing their lives in a place they've never been, where no one really cares about them. The potential of what happens, and what could have happened in the first season, is enormous. It takes place over two years, but manages to make it feel like 2 months. Basically, with the exception of season 4, Take the worlds of each season, and really show how they work. Show how people interacted within them. Show how people interacted with each other while inside them. They could have made each season into 3 seasons, with much better content, and character progression. We would have actually gotten to know who Kirito, and all the character, were better, and why they care about anything in the way that they do. Could have seen what Asuna did for a year and a half before finally having anything to do with Kirito again. There's just so much they could have shown us, and they didn't. And I haven't even said anything about what could have been with season 2 and 3 if they were fleshed out. That's why SAO isn't that great. All that said, I think SAO is enjoyable for the most part. It just could have been soooo much better. Season 1 is good, 7/10 if you ignore a few plot holes, And are okay with a romance arc. Season 2 is okay, 5/10 it had it's moments, but wasted a lot of potential. Season 3 is decent, 6/10 could have done a lot more with what they had, and given better reasons for Kirito to remember who the guy was without make up a whole arc that never happened. Season 4 is all over the place at times being 9/10 and at other times being 2/10.

+Hunter Koenig Ummm bro, Kirito didn't really have a troubled past, he just didn't know that his sister wasn't his sister. There are plenty of other anime characters out there that outshine him in that department: spike from cowboy bebop, eren from AoT, the Elric bros. from FMA/FMAB, Vash the Stampede from Trigun, and the list goes on and on. As for his "sidequests", that's called filler. Those episodes do nothing to further the story to clear the game and actually hinder the show by straying from the main storyline and giving out mediocre storyline in its place. Not to mention that most of them serve to create Kirito's own fucking harem which completely goes against the clearing the game goal for the show's first arc. Kirito should have been more of a very minor side character if anything and it should've concentrated on a group of friends instead. One of the friends could have died right before everyone was told about the whole "die in game= die in real life" reveal, and that could've been the group's spurce of motivation for clearing the game like how the death of eren's mother served as his motivation to kill all of the titans. SAO had a really terrible protagonist, bad writing, a SUPER disappointing world, and the worst romance in entertainment since fucking twilight.

You can say anything about SAO, but the OST is pure gold.

you have that incest bit backwards.Asuna un-develops. She starts as a badass and becomes a housewife, having little to no true importance. The last part would be subjective....if they didn't give us a 100% reason every time he won without a problem, or introduced any problem without having him blow through it. Several times he breaks the rules of his own universe 'its just a game' except when kirito needs the plot to break for things to work, then he can will away status effects and COME BACK FROM THE DEAD

Calling it one of worst shows ever is overstatement. There are turds like Isuca, Cosprayers, Mars of Destruction. In short, SAO it's not even in top10 shits.

I have a friend to really likes this show and after leaving him to go home he yelled out "I'M COMING TO SAVE YOU ASUNA" I then decided to not talk to him for a very long time

i would recommend this series, to people who are just starting to watch anime and don't have to many standards to go by

I love this anime but i love jokeing about how bad it is xD

I started to watch this show just after the first season finished and quit on episode 7 and haven't had any urge to re watch it

Now I want to see him talk about Accel World.

Meh, I feel like you bashed the show a little too hard. It wasn't that bad. Some of the plot holes and story jumping were explained. And the end all about the nerve gear: it's Japan. Plus, they did explain the main game creator made all these changes secretly. How one man was able to do this idk, but it was sort of explained. I agree about season 2 though. They ruined it there.

Since this was the first anime I ever watched all the way through, I love it. But I can admit that you addressed a lot of real problems with it, and I enjoyed watching this. You got a like and a sub :)!

I'm not surprised that the writer wanted to reboot the series now.

5:55 Look up the "Martin Fury incident" for World of Warcraft. Character named Karatechop got a hold of an item that instantly kills all enemies within 30 yards. Needless to say his entire guild was banned temporarily for their miracle raids in Ulduar. I believe the item in question now kills the player wearing it upon use. Only reason they were caught was because of the in game achievements being done simultaneously at the time was impossible.

If it had ended after episode 12 I honestly would've been fine with it. Game gets beat, creator is confronted, Kirito wakes up, goes off to find not Asuka But thanks to bad writing, it didnt know when to stop.

That main character problem is sort of fixed in the sequel, because he seems to have a form of PTSD.

I thought the show was alright but this still made me crack up. Weegee is probably one of the only KZreadrs that can make me laugh when I don't agree with him.

well yeah probably? Doesnt change the fact that he said he ordered the pizza in advance. How can you make a point on something like that, when he literally did what you said he didnt do? Personally reading the novels made the series more enjoyable, as the only thing left unexplained is how the nerve gear works. However, nobody can explain technology that doesn't exist, so it is just said that it connects to the nerve system in some way. Before reading the novels, the anime made me think scientifically about all of the plot holes to draw conclusions that made sense, allowing me to have a little fun while watching. The books just confirmed my hypothesis, more or less. My only problem with the series is that the only non female friend kirito gains, klein, gets little screentime in both seasons and the movie, apposed to the females who get a lot of screentime and a little fan service. Sorry for the paragraph, but this show, no matter how bad, will hold a place in my heart as one of the first anime I have watched behind soul eater, fullmetal alchemist, and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. Also, I really started getting into anime after I watched sao, sao 2, and sao the movie: original scale. No game no life and no game no life: zero will still be my favorite anime though

@@canamemiku i'm saying that A-1 did what they could for the time allotted. I may not agree with some of the story cuts/changes, but I certainty enjoy the show a lot.

@@canamemiku Oh and I wish they included in the anime that Shino Asada actually doesn't wear corrective lenses or sunglasses. The glasses that she wears are bulletproof and help her stay out in public comfortably. ThE mOrE YoU kNoW

Imagine this was Cooking Mama and the game creator did the same thing.

Sword Art Online should of been a comedy, slice of life anime. Kirito is a badass in the game but made fun of constantly irl and the harem thing requires actually character development.
