i think the writer's mistake was making his feelings romantic from the get go. I actually love their dynamic too. should have let his feelings built for wednesday very slowly. coz lets be real, wednesday might be a likable character/heroine but as a romantic interest, xavier is right to (eventually) realise there's nothing to like about her. they deserve another season of building that friendship and tension without making the romance too obviously one-sided like this season.

Xavier and Wednesday have so much chemistry and are honestly perfect for each other, but their relationship wasn’t written well. Hopefully in s2 they take the time they need, build a friendship, and then build a romantic relationship. Eventually becoming endgame.

@@nikkiej.5875 I think the writers should have gave us a little more detail if he had crushed on her since they were kids. At least that would explain why he was quick to be jealous of her with another guy when he only had few interactions with her after she showed up in his life again. But there was no detail other than a flashback verbally told by Xavier but not shown to the audience unlike Wednesday's first time crying. Hopefully in season 2, Wednesday's relationship with Xavier is explored with a bit more depth other than a one-sided crush from Xavier's part.

It’s the writers fault, Xavier and Wednesday are literally perfect and have so much chemistry but it wasn’t written well. If they took their time with their romantic relationship and made them gain a friendship, hinting minor details of the romantic side. They’re so perfect for each other but the writers need to take time with them.

But don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean cringy as synonymous with lame or awful, or as an insult. Everyone does cringe shit, it’s a normal part of life. I like her character but we are not going to sit here and pretend that she is a good character sometimes I wanted to punch her specially at the beginning because of how she treated her mom.

“Who said I was ready to speak with you” is my fav. Xavier did the same thing with Bianca, treated her horribly at the Rave’n and tried talking to her days later like nothing happened. Aht aht!

I believe they should just pretend like he wasn’t even there in the first place, re-cast him, someone else plays the part of Xavier and the original actor gets dumped off the show to be left to deal with his bs, but Xavier is a character that has so much development potential

Now, the main problem with Tyler x Wednesday is… All of it, just all of it. It was toxic, people need to stop shipping these two just because they’re a guy and a girl. They have no chemistry and Tyler literally tried to kill every single one of her friends and then tried to kill her. Same with Wednesday x Xavier. Also the main problem when Wenclair is… That it probably won’t happen. Netflix has been fighting against Wenclair shippers viciously.

He is dedicated that's for sure KAJAKAKSJ I hope they grow closer next season, platonically or not their dynamic is top tier - she's so done but he also just ✨ doesn't care✨

Some thoughts on ‘bland’ Xavier. A recurring theme in most Tim Burton films is ‘misfits’ world’: he usually offers the audience a chance to experience the story from the perspective of an outsider. This project is not different from the rest; here the said outsider is Wednesday, thus, all events and characters are presented through her eyes. Therefore, however exiting it might be to watch her roasting everybody around, the audience should also remember that this is an extremely biased depiction of facts and personalities. The story being told from the POV of Wednesday is the reason why, for instance, Enid, at first, comes off as over-optimistic, almost to the point of insanity, with her unyielding enthusiasm, fixation on gossip and with her grotesque pile of unicorns. Or why Tyler seems like a sweet, good guy who is always there for her (until you finally wish he weren’t). Or why her parents’ displays of affection look so out of place and almost on the verge of indecency. Or why Xavier seems like a sad and plain bummer - that is because Wednesday sees him this way. His sensitivity and implied psychological issues are the only parts of his personality she focuses on as they are the only ones relevant for her detective endeavors. She is not interested in his thoughts, ideas, beliefs, or hobbies, that is why they are not introduced (and I believe, shouldn’t be introduced) at the current stage of the story. However, just because his traits and interests are being ignored by one person, it doesn’t mean that he has none. Moreover, I daresay that he cannot be just brooding and whiny. The premise for this character is that he is, first and foremost, a popular guy. Further, he is so well-established in their ’cool kids’ group that he can afford to break up with the most popular girl and the said girl would go out of her ways to get him back. Maybe some viewers forget the high school experience, but teenage world is ruthless and cruel; empathy, tolerance, acceptance are, unfortunately, the things that are learned later in life (that is why bullying is such a daunting problem). There are numerous rules by which school dynamics work, and which set the criteria you should meet to remain popular. You cannot be just an annoying brooding type and stay in the center of a ‘cool kids’ clique. If you want to see how things turn out for such students, look at what happened to Ewan. To conclude, whatever the actual personality Xavier has, there must be more to him than what we are allowed to see. Maybe next season the writers include some interest on W’s part, and we get to see it. If they won’t, well, then he’s still a clean slate character - don’t miss the opportunity to project any kind of personality you like!

I wouldn't say it's told from Wednesday's POV. The story is centered around her, but we were given access to information that Wednesday wasn't. Mostly Tyler and his dad, but this also extends to Bianca, Xavier, Lucas, etc. It isn't like Euphoria where the main character Rue is narrating everyone's story and feelings and has a profound affect on how the audience sees things. Wednesday would be an unreliable narrator, but she isn't the narrator. This story is told in 3rd person

I think you have a point. Plus the season 1 isnt all about Xavier tho. Its about the monster Hyde. So it kinda revolves around Tyler more than Xavier. Season 1 just gives a free little insights about Xavier. Maybe in Season 2 we can feel the Xavier real vibes there. Besides this is definitely more than 1 season so we cant conclude anything final yet so people gotta chill 😅

@@BluAru did you even watch the show? He’s the same age as Wednesday, probably 16 since they are in the same class. Not sure what you saw made you think he was obsessive? He told Wednesday off plenty of times, didn’t go to the dance with her when he found out she was spying on him. Told her to pound sand when he was locked up in jail. Told her firmly he wasn’t the monster. He didn’t get into a fight with Tyler because of her. His drawings are connected to his emotions, he feels connected to her because he’s in love - pretty simple to me.

This man did not take one breath in eight episodes I swear

I loved that she didn't give a fuck about any of the men in this show who were trying to get with her. It was so refreshing to see a girl see through their bullshit and not get SO into the guys like she was seeing things through rose colored glasses. Once she realises that she might be, she gets her vision and is like "shit I'm getting away from this guy." (btw Tyler was not it anyway. His personality was literally as exciting as a cardboard box and really thought she didn't need anybody besides her friends to be there for her cuz everyone needs some friends she can count on) I was so glad she didn't end up with anyone in like a relationship cuz the guys were trying too hard and I was over it. I think xavier was beaten down alot but it was kinda funny and he kept trying like dude this girl does not ant to fuck with you lol But wednesday carried the show and was literally my favorite

Exactly idk why so many people shipping Xavier and Wednesday. It’s super clear she’s not even remotely interested in him not one bit. Tyler on the other hand, you can clearly identify he has feelings for Wednesday too but as you said he wasn’t so down bad or desperate for her like Xavier was, Tyler could get his mind focused on other things.
