@nxyla 💖 It's the same the other way round too y'know. Look at the number of graduates ivy league schools churn out every year. How many of them get the top jobs and positions promised them? They end up working in the same office or place as people who go to regular universities, those who go into tech sometimes end up working for ivy league dropouts. It's a good start to a better future, sure but most of the students have the resources and ability to do well anywhere.🤷🏿

it's so predictable, but there are so many little things that i absolutely LOVED! like the fact that she doesn't actually just give up her dream for him. the way he asked her before he touched her arm. the way ben and mandy were actually platonic friends the entire way through without there being some awkward "but i always loved you". the way mandy isn't jealous when graham's mum brings up the ex girlfriends (like, she does then joke about it after in the 'guess i have jessica etc to thank for that' but it didn't feel bitter, and i appreciate just the acknowledgment of, yes, chances are, someone you date will have dated before). that ben is just consistently an adorable mess. the way mandy is very embarassed by her parents, but doesn't go on to say anything mean about them. it's cringe and CHAOTIC. but it's also v cute

@@netflixpartyy also the way Graham actually took in SO MUCH of what Mandy said, even early on. like her comments about actually making the promposal about the girl, which he then does. or, in general, showing that some people learn better when doing something they love and just don't vibe with from the front or by the book teaching. he does well in AP psych because someone took the time to go "how would he learn this best" and then he proceeds to actually do well because someone took the time

I'm so glad the best friend wasn't the stereotypical 'gay best friend', and that 2 straight friends of opposite genders could be best friends and not make it weird. We never see that in movies. I never thought I'd say seeing 2 straight best friends of opposite genders is refreshing but it is tbh. Nothing against gay ppl of course, I am one I just mean I'm glad they removed the stigma that a platonic relationship can't happen. The dynamic was so great, I actually unironically loved this movie.

wow, lots of kudos to the writers for this movie. it has all the heart of the disney movies i used to love as well as a lot of modern sensibilities. they made a normalize asking for consent scene that didn't come off as weird or overly performative, they kept the best friends as friends, they didn't make the protagonist jealous of his ex girlfriends. i'm honestly just really impressed.

This movie looked interesting to me because of Milo and Peyton and at the beginning I thought I was gonna be super cheesy but tbh this movie is so good and I'm glad that the best friends stayed as best friends also Ben and Leytoa had no right to be SO CUTE!! 8/10

my personal headcanon is that graham actually sent the letter after she gave it back to him. just narratively I feel like that’s a much better resolution to that whole storyline than to say “oh turns out she didn’t need it after all and got into harvard anyway”. it’d also be a cool move on his part, to realize that she chose him over harvard knowing what that meant for her, and by giving him the letter she was putting her fate in his hands

Help why does this movie actually feel like a teen movie minus swearing or any adult topics?? D-Coms actually have that teen feel now and I’m not sure if I should be happy or terrified

dude no bc I was going in with no expectations, bar on the floor. I was just gonna watch it bc it had 2 Disney actor icons, Peyton & Milo.... bUT WHY DO I LOVE IT SO MUCH???!?!?!?!?!?! it was so good and I loved ben and Latoya so much like slay.. also the amount of representation was very cute. the classmate in a wheelchair, lgbt characters, it was very very slay of Disney
