The means and methods of construction are ever-evolving. The ways in which we access information has changed radically over the years. The demands of owners to bring projects to fruition with ever more demanding timelines is no secret. Is it no surprise that granularity and precision in keeping specifications accurate is ever more difficult.
• We will use relevant examples from Division 9 “real life” disconnects between a manufacturer’s requirements, a specification writer’s language, and the ultimate end result in the field.
• We will examine current ANSI & ASTM language, various examples of manufacturer specification language, and some reoccurring specification mis-fires which occur in spite of everyone’s best intentions.
• We will review actual case study examples to illustrate possible resolution paths.
• At the conclusion of the presentation, the examples provided will offer timely solutions of specific on-going “fixes”, and hopefully be a jumping off point for closer communication between all stakeholders to minimize future “punch list” issues.
